  1. 7 shifts for 5 minutes is a regular shift?
  2. Now the league controls the Wells Fargo Center scoreboard? Please, loosen the tin foil. When that action is the only reason the one player is in the line-up you bet your a$$ it matters.
  3. Not if he is trying to equate what happen in Philly to the Leafs game or Bruins game. They are different situations. Simmonds is a productive forward who plays a regular shift and 16:30 a game. It's an "offense" every time Scott steps on the ice. The NHL is recognizing what Scott is and what his purpose is. The major flaw in your logic is pretending Scott is just another player. Scott is a goon that represents what the NHL is trying eliminate from the game.
  4. it is obvious that this "world is out to get to the Sabres" is a coping mechanism for those having difficulty reconciling the current state of the franchise. It's a delusion, it's sad and it's embarrassing. It's the type of rhetoric we should be mocking fans of other teams for not creating.
  5. I stand corrected, Scott is a goon that plays 4:57 a game. Eriksson may not come up in conversations when talking about elite players, you can be damned sure fans all around the NHL know who he is and know he is more than just an average player. Sabre fans don't have a legitimate gripe. Rolston was fined for throwing a goon out on the ice. That is not what happened in Philly,
  6. Berube or the organization should be fined for Emery's actions. Will they? I doubt it. Neither Simmonds nor Emery are 4 minute a game goons which makes it a different situation,
  7. Has anyone stopped to ask why there would be a biased against the Sabres? What would be the point? Though, it could explain why Regier is still GM, the NHL won't allow the Sabres to fire him.
  8. There is a Grand Canyon sized difference between John Scott and Burrows. I know you know that already.
  9. Kessel went after Burrows and they fell to the ice. If Kessel "wanted no part" he would have skated away.
  10. Not sure when you lost your ability to read. I've already said that Emery should be facing secondary discipline. It was very uncomfortable watching Emery go after Holtby. Unless, your somehow trying to tie what Simmonds did to John Scott going after a star players head from the blindside. I'm sure your not, that would be very embarrassing.
  11. There's nothing wrong with playing on the edge. Players like Kaleta and Simmonds have to go about things a little smarter. They are of no use to their teams in the penalty box or the press box. They have established reputations in the NHL, sometimes that is all you need. Kaleta plays as if he is still trying to establish himself. He should take a close look at Ott. Ott picks his spots. Teams are already looking over their shoulders and are aware when Ott is on the ice. Ott doesn't have to proves anything to anyone at this point.
  12. The referee was warning players away. I was watching the game as it happened, it was very uncomfortable to watch. Simmonds dd nothing wrong. He knocked a player down with a clean hit and started a scrap with another player. The Flyers were lifeless and he was trying to inject some emotion. It was when Emery decided to get involved that things got out of hand. If there is secondary discipline it should fall heavily on Emery.
  13. I thought Peca did that years ago.
  14. Considering the position the Sabres are in, it's a decent return. I would have preferred a player much younger than Moulson with years left on a contract or years until UFA is reached. Overall it will depend on what the Islanders decide and what the Sabres can get in return for Moulson at the deadline.
  15. It's an asset that doesn't have a true value until the Islanders declare. It's like playing poker without looking at one of the cards. Like Regier or not, the Sabres need to maximize all assets and opportunities as they present themselves. The trade deadline is an opportunity.
  16. Not a big fan of the "protected pick." It makes it more difficult to move at the trade deadline, if the Sabres were so inclined. I would like to see the 2nd round pick upgraded to a 1st if the Islanders defer the #1 to next season.
  17. Thanks to the Oliers, Vanek was very well paid for his time here in Buffalo. As much as I would love to see the Sabres and islanders finish 29th & 30th this season, I expect we will all see a different Thomas Vanek in an Islander uniform.
  18. I was thinking Ott. Ehrhoff would be bring the greater value in return.
  19. This is a sad day in Sabres history. Vanek is one of the most talented Sabres of all-time and to have this team driven so far into the ground where trading a player like Vanek becomes a necessity is frustrating. The return is OK, A year or two ago if you said Vanek would fetch only two draft picks and a pending UFA likely to be a rental I think fans would go nuts. Where the Sabres are now, you just have to hope that Vanek does not a positive effect on the islanders and those picks have maximum value. I understand what you are trying to say, it just really doesn't make sense to me. A team that could possibly be looking to acquire picks isn't likely to move "young assets or youngish players in their prime that are capable of stepping in and contributing right away." Teams will do what most do and what the Sabres are doing, move veteran big ticket players in exchange for picks. Teams looking to rebuild usually don't start by selling assets with long range potential.
  20. If you are talking "relevant" only, I think the coaching staff is making this team relevant. Contending will come as they fill the holes on this roster.
  21. You have to consider that the Walking Dead is carrying a fan based built off of the comics. It is also a niche show. There are not any other horror genre shows like the Walking Dead. It's either the Walking Dead or some version of 90210 with vampires, werewolves or witches.
  22. I'm sure that 1971-72 team didn't cost the Knox family $60 mil.
  23. What is that saying? A chip and a chair. My last $40 on the Islanders. If that is allowed.
  24. Betting on the complete randomness of sports.
