Got to be able to take a shot if you're going to dish them out. Nice wheels on #9. He is definitely a better skater than #19 here for the Sabres.

Where should they have stopped? Which moves that were made were unnecessary? Would fans prefer Miller, Vanek and Pominville to all still be here? I know I don't. I know this team has been tough to watch, it's just still too early in the process to get frustrated. It's like complaining how the Harbor Center looked the day after they cleared out the lot and started on the foundation. It's a bold new direction for this franchise. A franchise that has for far too long relied on band-aides and short term solutions to maintain mediocrity. With great sacrifice comes great rewards. Times flies by pretty fast, before we all know it we will be dancing in the streets celebrating something special. It's been a long time since I had as much faith in something as I do in the direction this franchise is going. I have zero doubt our patience will be rewarded. As a whole, I think people of this board have been pretty tough of Terry Pegula, and justifiably so. There have been a lot of missteps during the first few years of his ownership. It was foolish of those who thought things would turn around instantly for the Sabres. Pegula has stepped into a new world he knows little about. You also have to keep in mind that Pegula is a shrewd business man. You don't luck into putting yourself into a financial position to purchase a NHL and NFL franchise. Pegula is figuring it out as he goes along. As he does, Buffalo sports fans are going to reap the benefits. I'm not talking bells and whistles. I'm talking about on ice success. -

This was a pretty decent effort for the Sabres. It's only 2-0 until the Sabres start taking penalties. Not many teams can stay with the Penguins when giving them five chances on the power play. The players the Sabres are counting on for offense need to cash in some chances. Two minutes into the game Moulson is on the door step and fails to cash in. Later, Gionta is all alone in front of the net and shoots it off the glass. Bury one of the chances and the complexion of the game changes. -

For any chance tonight the Sabres need to stay out of the box. The Pens power play is running a 39.5% clip this season. That is a Playstation level percentage. Here's hoping the Sabres can bog down the pens and frustrate them. There are some professional hockey players on the Sabres roster, tonight would be a good time for them to show up and prove it. -
Yes they are. It is there only purpose. Some treating it like a toy doesn't change that. I certainly hope this turns out not to be true. Hopefully the number of gun owners in this country continues to decline while the rest of the country continues to evolve beyond the need for guns.

It's more reliable than meaningless Corsi/Fenwick numbers.
-
The Corsi and Fenwick numbers are nullified by one undeniable fact, we are talking about the New York Islanders here. There are two things we can count on. John Tavaras is going to miss significant time due to injury and they will make a horrible trade at some point during the season. An ideal trade scenario for the Sabres would be Myers ending up with one of the Alberta teams for a #1 pick. I had hoped to see a different Myers coming into this season, it's apparent to me that he needs a change of scenery to jump start his career. The tools are there so there is value.

I'm still pretty positive. Right now it's all about growing pains. I think this roster has more to offer than 5 points through 11 games. Plenty of time to build off their strengths, penalty killing and goaltending.
-
This thread appeared faster than I predicted. Stafford has to have the higher trade value at this point. I can't imagine Hodgson garnering a return of anything more than a mid-round pick when you factor in his contract.

Apparently there is no amount of lives lost more valuable than the right to target practice. Hopefully those who read this and go play with their guns at least have the decency to say thank you to Gia Soriano, the 14 girl shot and killed in Washington. Another victim sacrificed for the sake of a small minority's hobby.

It's a world we created. It's not Utopian, it's a problem that if addressed seriously can be resolved. Two thirds of the country live without any fire arms in their homes. There is no reason the other third can't as well. Or. at the very least, make gun ownership more difficult to obtain than owning a car or home. If a person feels that strong about needing to own a gun then they need to do a lot more than drive to the local Walmart. I gladly admit my views are at the extreme end of the spectrum. IMO, it's time to fight extreme with extreme. People are being gunned down hourly in this country and the status quo is accomplishing nothing.

Don't most receivers/backs look to the scoreboard to see where the defender is?
-
Nice win, Jets did their best to make it easy for them. #53 Nigel Bradham was the Jets more productive player. Great time for a bye week. Get healthy and time to start designing an offense around Orton's skills.

Any gun ownership should be limited and strictly regulated. You don't need extreme fire power to hunt deer or rabbit or to protect your home from a wolf or cougar. Single fire riffles should remain available for hunters with yearly permits, inspections for illegal modifications, mandatory safety classes and individually serial numbered ammo which need to be accounted for (empty shells need to be turned in with time, date and location of where it was fired} before a permit will be renewed. The wild west days need to come to an end. One doctor dies from Ebola and the country is losing it's sh!t. People are being gunned down in this country on an hourly basis and we stand by and do nothing. Using a gun greatly reduces the victims chances of survival. Wasn't it last summer where a young girl was stabbed like 20 times by classmates and survived? There are bad people in the world who want to do harm. guns allow them to be far more effective. Fixed it for you.

No "responsible" human being would be a gun owner. A person can sneak into the country and obtain a firearm and kill two officers tells all you need to know about guns in this country. Those officers and a young high school student being shot dead are as much about the inaction dealing with this country's gun pandemic as it is on shooters actions. By all means, keep deflecting blame and creating bogey men if it helps your conscience.

GDT 10/25/2014: Sabres at San Jose Sharks 4PM EST MSG B, WGR

This was a solid W for this squad and hopefully the start of a turn around. They just need to keep working. I thought Reinhart played a strong game. This was the first game this year were I thought he looks like he belongs in the NHL. I thought the effort on his back checking was pretty solid. Confidence and points will start piling up for this kid he keeps putting out that level of effort. I'm not a big fan of Torrey Mitchel's game. His passing is really poor and he gives up possession of the puck way too easily, Several times yesterday, and through out the first nine games there were opportunities to make plays and keep possession where he would just toss the puck to and empty wing or dump into the offensive zone without his teammates being in position to fore check. I don't think Mitchel sees the ice very well. -
The two law enforcement officers and the young female student in Washington would still be alive if guns weren't as easy obtainable as cigarettes, But hey, let's keep blaming bogey men instead of addressing the real problem.. More lives lost so people can keep playing with their toys.

No doubt if it were $5 a gallon it would all be on Obama. Funny how things work that way. Question all you like. The company I work for was getting smaller under Bush/Republicans. Under Obama it is thriving and growing. All indicators point to a growing economy. If Republicans are now concerned about the deficit maybe they should look back all the money spent on wars they created. They are using the same method of tracking jobs and unemployment they used during the Bush dark ages? If the numbers under Obama are bad, I guess that the economy under Bush and the Republicans was catastrophic.
-
Unemployment is below 6% for the first time since July 2008, the Dow continues to climb to over 16,500, 248,000 jobs added in September to make it 55 straight months of of growth and inflation is holding at about 1.7%. I guess we can hand the economy back to the Republicans and the "job creators" if you prefer double digit unemployment, the Dow plummeting to below 10,000, losing 100,000 jobs each month and 4.1% inflation. Face it, Obama is posting some pretty solid numbers, he is successfully un-BUSH-ifying this country. Give the man another 8 years and this country would be in a golden era. Dare I say, the Obama Presidency is becoming a dynasty. It's just a fact, Republican chances lessen the greater the voter turnout. How every Republican is not embarrassed by this says a lot about the party.
-
I saw a news article that gas prices have dipped below $3.00 a gallon in some areas. Another example of the tyranny that is President Obama. First the stable economy, dropping unemployment and now this. How are we not rioting in the streets is beyond me.

The Democrats as a whole have done a piss poor job stepping on the throats of the Republicans. The Republicans haven't had a success policy since the abolition of slavery and yet they win elections. The Democrats need to somehow find a way to counter the fear mongering that Republicans rely on. If Democrats could turn the conversation into a discussion on accomplishments the Republicans would have nothing to counter with. Even if the Republicans were to win both houses nothing would change. They couldn't possibly get less accomplished than the current group.
