  1. The Sabres would have to move up twice, imo, to take a shot at #3. I would think they would have to at least move into the top ten then take a run at #3. Looks way too expensive. Can someone explain why some seem to think Grigorenko was significant trade value. I get that he is a former 1st round pick. Nothing he has shown since that day screams NHL Player. I'm willing to listen. I see posters add Grigorenko into trade discussions and the first thought in my mind is why would the other make any significant investment to acquire Grigorenko. IMO, his value at this point is of a middle round draft pick. 4th or 5th round in return. I think a 3rd would be a generous return at this point. Again, I'm willing to listen.
  2. Neuvirths Glove gave up his dream of being in law enforcement once he discovered that penal codes were not forms of enhancement.
  3. Thanes16 is currently holding Thanes15 against their will in a secret room somewhere within the Harbor Center.
  4. grinreaper was asked to talk to kids at a local community center about Civil Rights where he proceeded to give an impassioned 20 minute speech on lactose intolerance.
  5. Heimdall owns a Jennifer Smith 'Real Doll'.
  6. Fans might be less worried about Malkin's age if he could play a complete season.
  7. I would have thought you would have gone with thinking Steve Montador , may he rest in peace, was a top four defenseman. For myself, thinking Derek Roy's talent would out weigh his immaturity.
  8. At this point I would think giving up the amount of assets needed to land Malkin would slow down the Sabres progress. So much about moves like this is about timing. As you said this is the wrong time. If a team picks up Malkin the expectations immediately becomes a Stanley Cup in 2-3 years. The Sabres are currently not in position to support a Cup run in that time frame. 3-4 years down the road this is the type of move I would expect the Sabres to be looking for. IMO, the focus for the Sabres over the next 2-3 years should be to develop young talent and continue to acquire and flip assets. At that point this first wave of young prospects should have filtered themselves, some will be entrenched in their positions on the roster and others be shown the door. There will be deals that make sense over the next few years, deals to elevate the talent level and add NHL experience will be needed. Timing will dictate the size and impact of moves the Sabres will make. Deals will have to make sense in the grand scheme of becoming a Cup contender.
  9. Fired? Just kidding. #21 in 2015 and a likely top 10 pick in 2016? Top six forward at the very least would be my guess.
  10. Werenski making the assumption that Button is wrong and Hanifan does not fall. If Hanifin falls he's my pick. I don't think Provorov gets past the Devil's at #6.
  11. The Sabres can offer, I highly doubt the players would sign the offer making the offers pointless and making the Sabres look bad.
  12. Unless Toews and Kane retire the Hawks will be Cup Contenders for some time. Possibly 3 Cups in six years. If they win the Hawks enter that conversation of all-time great teams, along with the Oilers & Islanders just behind the Canadians.
  13. The Pens drafted well enough to win a Stanley Cup with a core, Crosby, Malkin & Staal that where all drafted in the top 5. The Pens have had less success drafting when they started routinely drafting in the bottom third. It's pretty simple, drafting top 10 is better than drafting 21st. If the Sabres have the assets and a willing partner in the top 10 then they would be foolish not to explore it. IMO, it's important for Tim Murray to stay aggressive in all aspects. Nothing has been accomplished so there is no reason to sit back. I don't know about that. Using the quick eyeball test without looking up numbers I would say 8th has been more productive than 21st by quite a bit.
  14. If the draft goes according to Hoyle than that #8 pick is likely a chance at the 2nd or 3rd rated defenseman. Depending on which mock draft ends up being accurate that can be either Hanifan, Provorov or Werenski. You're proclaiming the Sabres have "all-stars" when all they have right now is potential. Not every player the Sabres currently have is going to pan out. It's far too early to stop amassing talent and start looking for roster filler. The Pens have a Stanley Cup and a series of 100 point seasons. I'll take that return. What the Hawks have is nice, I settle for a Cup and permanent contender status.
  15. I know some here really like Pysyk, for me I have a "meh" attitude on Pysyk. He'll be a decent NHL defenseman, likely a decent second/third pairing guy. If I can flip him for a more dynamic asset I would make the move. I just don't see Foligno and Pysyk as being difference makers. In the early stages of the re-build I want to concentrate on impact players, roster filler comes further down the process.
  16. I would love if the Sabres took a run at Dougie Hamilton. I think the 6 x $6 mil is the contract he will likely end up signing with the Bruins. The kid is a player and I wouldn't mind over-payng to see this kid in the blue & gold.
  17. I don't see Pysyk or Foligno as part of this team's future. If I can use them to upgrade the roster and I would do it. We are already coming away form the 2015 with one of the top offensive prospects, I would gladly flip Pysyk and picks for a chance at one of the top 2-3 defensive prospects in a deep draft. I don't see Foligno as having much more than what we have already seen. He is 3rd-4th line guy 10 goals and 25 points. I like his physical play, IMO, Rychel would be an upgrade in hockey talent. Overall it makes the Sabres more talented and , IMO, doesn't slow down the Sabres progress at all. I would not expect a top 8 pick to take "several years" to make this roster.
  18. I remember waiting for the mail to arrive with my Sabres open practice tickets just for the honor of taking a bus down to the Aud before the sun was up just to watch #11 practice. My old man worked two jobs so we there wasn't much time or money to take me to Sabres games so the open practices were my only real chance to see the Sabres up close. We got there real early and were able to sit in the reds.
  19. My only expectation for 2015-16 is to have more pieces of the roster in place at the end of the 2015-16 season then what they started the season with. I'm hoping they add another piece or two via trade and a couple of the young prospects grab a firm hold onto a roster spot. This season will be the first step out of the darkness, I'd like to see a huge step forward.
  20. Win or lose in the Cup Finals you have to give it up to the job Steve Yzerman has done in Tampa Bay. Trading for Bishop and Callahan, drafting Kucherov in the 2nd round and Ondrej Palat in the 7th round of the 2011 ended up being great moves. He may have inherited Stamkos but he definitely has his stamp on this team. If Bishop continues to improve the Lightning may be in the Sabres way for a long time.
  21. Going back to a previous discussion about dealing the #21 pick to Columbus, if Columbus called the Sabres and offered up the #8 pick for example: To Buffalo: #8 in 2015 #68 in 2015 Kerby Rychel To Columbus: #21 in 2015 #51 in 2015 Mark Pysyk Marcus Foligno do you advise Tim Murray take the deal? Is it out of balance? What would be needed to balance out the deal if you feel it is slanted one way or the other?
  22. After a strong World's, is there anything Jack Eichel can do here during this combine to cause the Oilers to seriously consider Eichel at #1?
  23. 1) It's unavoidable at this point. 2) I prefer Bylsma, if I have to figure out how to spell and pronounce the man's name I am going to use it. 3) This is only the first contract Bylsma signs with the Sabres. 4) 35% chance unless they go out and get a goaltender. 5) Female fans with Adam's apples.
  24. Kunitz makes sense from a numbers standpoint as well. He has two years left at $4 mi & $3.55 mil,
  25. Team Storm Cloud without me is like the Four Horseman without Ric Flair. It's like watching Paul Roma, Chris Beniot, Dean Malenko and Mondo McMichael hold up the four fingers. I would hate to see Team Storm Cloud bastardized into a sewing circle with a bunch of old ladies bitching and moaning about everything. It was never the purpose. We rallied against the Staus Quo and are now faced with the New World Order atop the Sabres Nation we so desperately needed. We got what we wanted, to complain now will for the sole purpose of complaining which diminishes what Team Storm Cloud was all about.
