And it will be the first time either will get any serious run on this board. Grigorenko has been a hot topic for some time.
-
IMO, being a 1st round pick is the only reason he is a topic in the first place. Same exact results but drafted in the 2nd and 3rd I doubt he gets much mention at all. You are right that the early push to the NHL has skewed expectations. Realistically we are looking at a player that is at least 2-3 years away from being NHL ready if ever.

I had thought that there was some concerns about Grigorenko before the draft, that he was a risky pick. Here is what one site said about him before the draft. Analysis: Grigorenko is this year’s most polarizing player. He’s an exceptionally gifted offensive player — when he wants to be, which isn’t quite often enough. His consistency is an issue and he came under fire for a disappointing playoffs, but it was later discovered he was playing with mononucleosis. When he’s on his game, he’s an electrifying scorer with imposing size and skill. Grigorenko has done everything he can to prove his sincerity towards playing in the NHL in the weeks leading up to the draft.

What you have here may be a perfect trade scenario for the Sabres. You have a 12th overall pick in Grigorenko that is floundering within the organization so what do you do with him. You look for a team with a decent prospect that for one reason or another is falling out of favor and may be willing to move him. Sometimes an asset runs it's course sooner than anticipated so flipping that asset for a similar asset in the hopes the change can effect the assets in a positive way. The only issue I see is from a Detroit standpoint, I can see where they wouldn't feel the two assets involved are equal and may require additional compensation likely in the form of a draft pick. Mantha is a little bit bigger. If I'm Detroit I would at least want a conditional third round pick, possibly turning into a second, in a Mantha for Grigorenko deal.

I can't see how Grigorenko can expect any guarantees based on his professional career to date. He hasn't even earned top six minutes with the Amerks let alone the Sabres.
-
Staal to the Red Wings would do wonders for Datsyuk and Staal. Staal is wasting away his prime down in Carolina.
-
If the Sabres were to retain his rights this could really work in the Sabres favor. Let him go to the KHL and learn the game. If he improves than sign him then.
-
Thanks! I was thinking actual dollars since the Cap wont be an issue for the Sabres for a while. I'm a huge Kessel fan. I've said previously it is the wrong time to add Kessel. He needs to go to contender. I can see Kessel putting a team like Montreal or Anaheim over the top. He'd be wasted here in Buffalo at this point.
-
Do we want Brown at this point of his career? His offensive game has gone awol the past two seasons. 27 points each of the last two seasons. I know what he brings outside of the offensive game, but I need more than 27 points for the $7 mil a year I would be paying.

If Stamkos and the coaching staff don't get along, you get rid of the coaching staff. There is no way to sell a Stamkos trade to their fan base.

At age 34? That's a huge gamble, a little too rich for my blood.

We can not ignore that Sharp's production dropped 45% in 2014 from 2013. Even for a contender I just don't see the value when taking into consideration the cost. We are talking a #1 pick and taking on $10.5 mil over two seasons.
-
Why give up #13 when the Kings can just buy Richards out?
-
The best I would offer for Sharp is a conditional 2016 4th round pick. If he scores 25+ goals for the Sabres than that 4th becomes a 3rd. I make that deal knowing I can flip Sharp the following year for more than I paid for him. He's a $5.9 mil cap hit over the next two seasons. The Sabres have the cap room, they could use it to their advantage.

100% agree. When Jason Giambi was in Oakland he had a great qoute. "We play like all-stars, party like rocks and bang like porn stars." That is the level of confidence I want spilling from the Sabres locker room going forward. This isn't the 1970's and every fan in the arena isn't wearing suites and dresses. Let's toss that polite Canadian farm boy image we have know for too long and toss it in the trash.
-
#21 or #31 for a 33 year old? Sharp is a finishing piece of a Stanley Cup puzzle, not a building block. If the Hawks are looking to dump salary, I would want Raanta or Van Riemsdyk to be included especially if I am giving up quality assets like the #21 or #31 picks.
-
The Sabres are not getting into the top five without a top 10 pick. Your package might get the Sabres into the top ten, they willhave to then take that top 10 pick and build an offer around it for a top 5 pick. 21 to #4 or #3 is too big of a jump unless you plan on adding Girgensons and/or Ristolainen to the offer.

As we evolve and our knowledge of the universe expands people will no longer need religion to fill in gaps. IMO, the "mystical primary force" is organized religion's weakest selling point. As you said religion will need to adapt. For religion to do so they have to come to the realization that many of their stories need to be treated as fables and taught as such. Jonah and the Whale, David and Goliath, Noah and the Ark, Jesus walking across water need to be presented differently. I am not against spirituality but I believe when you cut through all BS, for lack of a better word, there are very valuable thoughts and ideas at the core of Christianity and other religions. Removing the gods, saviors and saints will only help the core messages at the root of every religion actually grow.

More too my point, I question how many people qualify as a "true Christian" under your guideline. it seems with each passing generation the hold that Religion once had is less than the generation before. Under the idea that you are either growing or you are dying,I believe Religion is dying with the passing of each generation .

I have to wonder if Kaleta was not from the area if he would already be a distant memory. As a hockey player any difference he makes is usually a negative in the form of a penalty or suspension. As far as his attitude, I think Bogosian gives me the attitude I need along with Girgensons and I hope Eichel and others. The Sabres also have Weber and Deslauriers so i'm not seeing where Kaleta fits in or has anything to offer the Sabres, other than being from the area.

Will there ever be a time where religion becomes unnecessary? I see numbers reported about this many or that many millions of Christians in the united states. I would like to know how many actual "Christians" there are. How many people actually believe that there is a God overseeing their lives? How many actually live lives free of sin out of fear of not being allowed into heaven? How many are just going through the motions because religion is the part of a routine handed down over generations. A quick search indicates that 83% of Americans are "Christians", I would guess that number is much much lower if you count only those living Christian lives and not just everyone who fills in "Christian" on a form or a survey. The void in peoples lives that religion once filled in now being filled by the complications of an ever evolving society which cause the number of actual Christians to continue to dwindle.

Pastjoe will raise his hands in the air, but he refuses to wave them like he just don't care.
-
That's what I initially said, it would be way too expensive. I still want the Sabres being in on the discussions at some level. Like Malkin, I don't think he is the right player at this time, I still want the Sabres making the inquiry.
-
For the last 14 years, on June 19th Sabres Fan in NS hires homeless men from a local shelter to reenact No Goal.
-
If #3 is in play and the Sabres were not at least making inquiries I would be deeply disappointed. I'm not even sure how much secondary trade value Grigorenko has.
