He's 22 and seemingly on a fast track to a Norris Trophy. The Oilers have a ton of forward talent. What they need are players to round out that talent to take the Oilers to that next level. If I'm the Oilers GM I'm making that deal and flipping the #14 pick in a deal for O'Reilly.

You bring in the former Bruins GM to make your team like the Boston Bruins. Lucic is Mr. Bruin plus 3 first round picks. is it likely? No. Impossible? No as well.

Who is the GM in Edmonton? Before this morning I would have said no way are the Sabres giving away the #21 pick for an average backup goalie and $3 mil of dead cap space. So anything is possible.

This would be a horrible trade if it becomes true. A goalie who won 8 of 24 starts for a playoff team and basically freeing up cap space for Ottawa for the #21 pick in the draft would be a horrible waste of a valuable asset. I wouldn't give anything more than a 3rd round pick and even then I have doubts.

Not the same at all. Under the point system two ties equal a win which is ridiculous.

Use the pointless ties as a tiebreaker for the final standings. There, problem solved, they now have meaning. Can we now get rid of the ridiculous point system.

Doesn't that happen all the time under the current system? What's wrong with a simple wins/loses system. Why do we need anything else?

A better idea is to get rid of OT's all together and reward zero points for ties. That way teams will be going all out at the end of games knowing that it is win or nothing. Put the emphasis on winning and nothing else.
