Couldn't disagree more on the LA Kings. This is a franchise gearing up for a final run at a Cup with the core group they have now. I am 100% certain contenders like Chicago and Anaheim are not happy about the Kings acquiring Lucic. I know I am a minority of one but I don't think McDavid make the Oilers any better. He's more of the same of what they already have. 3-4 years down the line they will regret passing on Eichel. Calgary's addition of Hamilton will have a far greater long term impact than the Oilers drafting McDavid. Not saying McDavid will be a bust, just building a team is about balance and making the right pieces fit. IMO, the Oilers ahve more lottery picks in their immediate future. Not sure what Boston is going for here. There has to be more to the Hamilton trade then we will ever truly know. I haven't had a drink in over two years and I woke up this morning feeling like I had a hangover. I would gladly partake in the "hair of the dog that bit me" in the form of another epic trade involving a dman or a scoring winger.

Myers' career was stagnant, Hamilton's career has been on a steady incline. Completely different situations.

I think this team will make the playoffs, Not just get in, solidly make the playoffs.
-
I would prefer another forward for the third line dropping Foligno to the fourth line and Kaleta to the press box. Also, I have doubts about Moulson returning to anything near a 30 goal scorer. He'll be 32 the beginning of next season and I have serious concerns about him having turned the corner on his career. I can't wait till camp to see how the lineup shakes out.

As we have all witnessed here with those who shall not be named, at times when a GM gets locked in on a player what is clear to some is not clear to that GM or is easily be excused away. Today Murray was talking about Lehner's game being effected by him not being named the #1 goalie. That was odd and I think that says something. I'm not trying to beat up on Murray, for this one individual trade i wish he would have gone in a different direction or simply waited for another opportunity down the line. Overall I am happy with the job Murray has done. I was not a big proponent of the O'Reilly trade before it happened, but seeing what the actual price ended up being I think it was a fantastic job by Murray.

This is the first time I can remember I can't wait until summer is over. Let's start training camp and see what we got.

If the pick five years from know became Robin Lehner it would be a huge disappointment. Of the three Ottawa starting goalies last year Lehner by far had the worst record, worst save percentage and gaa. His sv% and gaa were worse than Lindback and Neuvirth of the Sabres. There were better uses for the 21st pick than a career 30-49 goaltender. As I said previously, Tim Murray looks at Lehner as the goaltender he scouted and drafted not the goaltender with a very lackluster NHL career to date. To think Brian Murray did not know this and didn't take advantage of this is being a bit naive. Overall Tim Murray had a great day. Hopefully Lehner turns back into the goaltender Murray thinks he is and the Sabres aren't burning though more assets trying to find another goaltender over the next few years. More average than good. With what the Sabres are building in front of the goal the expectations are going to be high, I don't think average gets it done.

For young NHL players, which is very important.
-
Unless they are traded away or additional picks added the Sabres will have 8 first round picks, 8 second round picks, 8 third round picks ect ect ect for the Sabres to reload as they go.

Being a fan is all about emotions. Nothing wrong with fans being angry one minute and elated the next.
-
Playoffs? I'm thinking Sabres/Flames Finals.
-
any position in mind?
-
I know the feeling.
-
If we chip in will you buy a Hodgson jersey?
-
May be the biggest single day in franchise history since the spin of the wheel.
-
Hate to see Zadorov go but seems like a really good price.

As we have all seen here in the past a GM can get locked in on a player and is often lost in the vision of the player he drafted and the current player he has become. IMO, Tim Murray got caught up in trading for the "prospect" Robin Lehner and not the 23 year old Robin Lehner with 86 NHL games under his belt. Sometimes familiarity can be blinding. and Brian Murray took advantage.

The Bruins made two contenders in the West stronger today. I'd be ordering my Hamilton jersey right now.
-
Lucic will be fine. The Kings are loading up for another run at a Cup.
-
Can any of them play goal?
-
It makes sense that Brian knew Tim overvalued Lehner and took advantage of it. I find it extremely hard to believe that there was another team out there willing to give Ottawa anything close to what the Sabres did. Brian took Tim to the woodshed and gave the boy a whooppin on this one.

Flames fans must feel like they just won the draft. Hamilton, Giordana, Brodie, Russell & Wideman? That's a group of D-man you can win a Cup with.
-
Wouldn't the compensation be more than what they received?
-
Bruins have just made a historically bad trade. This is all-time bad.

Adding Hamilton, their future is now.
