Tough break on the Sekera penalty. On a positive note, I can really use Gionta's assist, point and pp assist.

Sekera has been looking like Zhitnik did with the puck. Very hard to knock off the puck in the corner.

Let's hope that the Sabres are willing to use the remainder of that cap space to add to a forward ranks that sorely needs a couple of legit "top six" forwards.

I hear ya. For me it's not about seeing this team just get enough points to back into the playoffs. Last night they showed they can add a physical aspect to their game. That edge can be the difference between just being another team and being a team that can do something in the playoffs. I am not downplaying the importance of offense. Solid goaltending and a tough physical defense is hard to beat in a 7 game series.

Sadly, runs "6 of 10 or 7 of 10" doesn't even get the team back to .500. What they need most tonight is to duplicate the effort of the first 20 minutes of last nights game. If Weber can maintain his level of play and Myers can regain most of the form he showed as a rookie it changes the dynamic of the defense. Leopold is proving to be a Jason Wooley type of defenseman. I mean that in a good way. Sekera has been solid on the puck as of late. Montador has been much better than he was last year. I would almost say there could be hope for this season if only Regier would actually do something and address the issues at forward.

Wilson lost control of that team in the first period. Cost the Leafs the game.

I know goalies with shutouts always get the stars but Miller wasn't in my top three Sabres tonight. Weber, Kaleta and Gaustad should have been the three stars tonight. They got things going and were the catalyst for the first two power play goals.

It was amazing to see how this team looks with a little agression added to their game.

Is there any doubt that Status Quo is working more on the off-season excuse program right now than it is planning on roster changes to save this season?

Every move Regier makes is consistent with the M.O. that he has had since he started here. Here are the Sabres after the quarter season mark sitting seven games under .500 and four teams sitting between them and a playoff spot. Those teams all happen to have games in hand as well. The Panthers, one point behind the Sabres, have 3 games in hand as do the Leafs who are tied with the Sabres with 19 points. The hole may not seem deep. When you have to climb over five teams to get out it is a bit more daunting.

There is plenty of blame to go around and surely a fair amount belongs on Quinn's shoulders to carry. The problems with this roster falls 100% on Regier's shoulders. I look at the needs of this team going into last off-season and I'm still scratching my head as to why Nathan Horton is not a Buffalo Sabre? He seemed to be a perfect fit. He is signed long term at a great price. He brings size to a smallish group of forwards and is a legit NHL top six forward. Horton not being a Sabre falls on Regier.

Rating this game as far as entertainment on a scale of 1 to 10 I will give it a three so far.

Enroth to start? If he does enough to help this team get two points today he needs to be the #2 goalie full time.

Lalime should not be playing at all. I think Enroth has shown enough that he should be the backup on a full time basis. It's time for Lalime and Rivet to start working on their bucket lists.

Or that string dangling from Connolly's hockey pants.

I think the letter C will cover any blood stain on Vanek's jersey.

That would mean that the Sabres made Enroth pay for his own ticket or that Seifert and O'Reilly have hit hard times.

Is Miller still injured and can't play back to back? Possible showcase game for Enroth? Or, is Ruff just saving Lalime from a 10 goal game?
