This falls directly on Regier and Ruff. They think they can solve the toughness issue by having one player that is willing to fight (McCormick) and one guy willing to throw a hit (Kaleta). They take their largest forward (Gaustad) and castrate him and make him a face-off specialist.

It's not Lucic's responsibility to protect Miller. He was going after the puck and Miller got in the way. Lucic didn't run Miller in the crease. Miller was far outside the crease playing the puck, he should be fair game. Suspending Lucic isn't going to make the Sabres tougher.

It would be a joke if the NHL suspended Lucic. Miller was out of the crease and had just played the puck. It shouldn't even had been a two minute minor. This is just fans looking to the NHL to punish Lucic because the Sabres refused to do anything. I hope no one is holding their breath expecting the Sabres to do anything in the Boston rematches. They'll be too afraid of getting their a$$es kicked just as they were on Saturday.

Watch the replay on NHL.com, it was not a hit to the head. If Pegula flips out on anyone it should be the coaches and players that did nothing. The Sabres better hope the NHL doesn't take a closer look at the play, Miller just might be suspended for swinging his goal-stick at Lucic.

There isn't a player on the Sabres I wouldn't trade to for Lucic, that includes Myers and Vanek.

This will become Paterno's legacy. Paterno failed as a man and as a human being. He allowed the lives of children to be destroyed to save the little fiefdom that was built around him. This is far worse than buying a player a car or paying off a high school coach to funnel talent to your school. I doubt the NCAA can levy any serious sanctions against Penn State, they shouldn't have to. If the administrators of Penn State truly want to take steps towards redeeming the reputation of their institution they should take their own actions and make them severe.

Thanks. it was a pretty scrappy week. I'm glad I was able to make up a couple of points in the division. As far as the Golisanos of SabreSpace Gold, I like the idea of replacement owners if possible. There has to be a Pegula or two out there willing to take them over.

I would like someone to explain that call to me. Did the Referee rule the ball hit the ground and then Wilson's hand came from under the ball through the turf? I saw all the angles provided by CBS and still don't understand how that was not a Int under the rules.

Great show on the history of Zombies on the History Channel. They showed Jeffry Dahmer who tried to create Zombies by drilling holes into his victims heads and pouring in acid. My first thought was what a waste of time. Dahmer should have just used Lindy Ruff's system.

He was using his speed to get around the corner. Did more in one game then he did all of his time in Buffalo.

Baltimore is a solid pick. It would be the third week in a row I picked against Jacksonville. I am trying to save New Orleans, I may use them next week against St. Louis. Seattle beat the Giants and eliminated over 40 teams. I am not going against them.

What to do? There are ten teams left in the NFL survivor pool I am in and there are not many good games to choose from. I have Dallas over St. Louis penciled in at the moment. Seeing St. Louis leading Texas 14-6 has me a bit spooked. I have already used: New England Green Bay San Diego Tampa Bay Cincinnati Pittsburgh Any advice?

Just two thoughts about the game. One positive and one negative. Negative - Stevie Johnson needed to help his QB out on that second int. He needed to go after the ball a little stronger. The 15 yard face-mask penalty just made a bad play worse. Positive - keeping the Giants out of the end-zone and holding them to that last field goal was huge. They gave the offense a chance to tie or win the game with a good amount of time on the clock. The offense's failure to capitalize shouldn't take away from a great effort on that last field goal drive.

It was a "rule of thumb" years ago. The NFL has become a QB pass first league. You are going to see safeties and corners near the top of the league in tackles because teams are dropping back to pass 40-50 times a game. The "rule of thumb" you had referred to coincides with the "run and stop the run" mentality. They no longer apply in today's NFL. With all of the rule changes the spread offense is going to become even more popular. It's an offense that teams like the Packers and Patriots proved you can win with even if your offensive line is complete garbage like the Packers line last season and the Patriots line this season.

What did Owens do in a Bills uniform to make the idea of signing him so unrealistic? He played pretty well for the short time he was here. If I recall correctly he was one of the first people to come out and say Fitzpatrick should be the starter. If Owens is healthy than signing him to an 10 or 11 game contract is an excellent idea. He did have 72 receptions for 983 yards and 9 TD's last season. I'm sure Gailey could find a way to use him.
