I'm just tossing this out there. Is there any realistic chance teams have been told that the instigator rule is being repealed and that the NHL will not announce it until after the new CBA is signed?

Your numbers are a little off. 07-08 the Sabres were 7-2-2 in games Peters fought. 08-09 the Sabres were 4-4-2 in games Peters fought. Overall that's an 11-10 record.

I had to turn it off. It's a great concept for a show. Having a Sabres employee host the show is the bad idea.

Maybe not the biggest need like center is. Overall talent is definitely high on the list. He is a winger with talent, size and a willingness to play physical. Adding Ryan is a huge improvement for this roster. He's not a instant cure for all the Sabres ills, he can be a big step towards making this team a contender.

A) Lucic's protection dropped 1 point (62-61) his goals dropped from 30-26. A variance that small shows consistency. B) Was Peters a slump buster? Ray? Not likely. Putting a guy into the lineup for a couple of shifts just to pile up penalty minutes is going to nothing other than keep you on the PK. There wasn't anyone signed yesterday that I thought the Sabres should have gone after. I am not blaming Regier for not doing more yesterday. IMO, this is a throw away contract, much like Joe Findley last season. You know damn well Darcy prefers Arby's 5 for $5 deal. :rolleyes:

How about trading for Nick, then after a slow start they fire Lindy and hire Mike? The Foligno hat-trick?

I just hope this isn't part of a fall back plan to an initial attempt to add real toughness to the roster.

Players like Lucic thrive on the anarchy they cause. Scott being in the lineup will do nothing to deter Lucic. Lucic will do what he does and gladly take on Scott. If Scott were a Sabre last season he still runs Miller over and the five guys on the ice still do nothing.

If McCormick can slam the big man down that hard I can only imagine what Lucic would do to him.

Great news for the Devils and the NHL. Brodeur in another uniform would have been wrong. I wouldn't be surprised if Parise follows suit and stays with the Devils as well.

Prust is a great example. A much better option than a guy who's skating is timed by the same methods as the continental drift.

The enforcer role is a concept who's time has come and gone. Lucic is a bad ass who can kick ass and score 30 goals. If the Sabres want to "deter Lucic and others" they need to change the makeup of their roster as a whole. You "deter" no one with a cement-head with zero hockey skills. Of course that is listed under, IMO. ;)

A player like Scott will only entice a player like Lucic to take more liberties with the Sabres. You don't increase your team's toughness by having a goon in the press box and the Sabres really can't afford to have him in the lineup and basically playing a man short.

Agree 100%. This guy is a waste of $600k and a uniform. For some of us it will be the closest we get to knowing how a women feels. All that built up anticipation for two minutes of thunder. :doh:

I'm glad he didn't. This team needs top six forwards that can take care of themselves. Enforces are a concept from an era long gone. You need to bring more to the game other than a willingness to accept brain damage.

This market has an abundance of what the Sabres already have, 3rd and 4th line talent.
