Last year without Parise the Devils didn't make the playoffs. This with the same team and Parise they make it to Finals. I don't think that is just coincidence.
-
Dallas was above .500 last year and has acquired some decent offensive talent. Maybe Jagr sees them as this years Kings. Then again, he already has his rings, so maybe the price was right.
-
So do the Islanders and the Oilers. Parise is coming off a run to the Finals. I would love Parise in a Sabre uniform. I would have more respect for a decision to stay in NJ and see it through. Sort of like if Drury and Briere stayed with the Sabres and took care of unfinished business.

Wouldn't two big positives be: 1) Having one of the best GMs in all of Hockey. 2) A history of winning Stanley Cups Pegula can offer more money, he can't offer a legacy of winning Championships. WOW!
-
it's not about the raw numbers. If you want just numbers than Semin is a good pick up. The Sabres have finally realized you don;t build a team from the net out. You build it from the Crest out. Like Peggy says,

Damn you WGR! I'm out in the yard and I hear an announcement about a $100 mil free-agent contract. I run inside and it's an NBA signing.

Clutterbuck?

The physical part is in conjuncture with his offensive output. Is he Dustin Brown physically? No. Is Brown's offensive on par with Nash? IMO, No. IMO, I look at Nash as a player who has yet reached his full potential offensively.
-
Please explain the bolded part? Statistically Nash throws three times the hits on average that that Kovy does.
-
What Nash gives to Kovy on the scoring side he makes up on the physical side. We're talking about a 6' 4" 200 pound winger. It's like having a Paul Gaustad with elite talent. IMO, if Columbus trades Nash than the GM should be fired no matter what the return is. I would love to start my NHL GM career with Nash as the center piece.
-
it will mean more if he just does it instead of talks about it. If Thomas is out this year the gesture will carry more weight.
-
Rick Nash is a legit difference maker. He is 28 years old, at a fixed price that has produced big numbers for one of the leagues bottom teams. IMO, he is the Canadian Kovalchuk. Put him on a contender and it can male the world of difference.
-
Have they retired Erik Rasmussen's jersey yet? I think he wants to stay in NJ and is hoping they up their offer. If not, he'll take the highest bid. (D1)

It's not that new and upcoming head coach Ken Hitchcock?

I have to get an upgrade on my computer. I just got he following NHL update from AOL.com: Phoenix signed Darcy Wakaluk as a FA Los Angeles signed Paul DiPietro as a FA San Jose signed Tim Hunter as a FA

He's another Leino, Leaving Detroit will signal the beginning of the end of his NHL career. I m referring to Leino leaving a good thing in Philly, not the short time he played in Detroit.

I like the plan. It would be better if another blueliner came in to replace Sulzer on the third pair. I have concerns about Regehr's game at this point and having he and Sulzer both as top six concerns me. I like Sulzer as the the 7th/8th with Weber.
-
Great! Let's get him signed, he won't upset the team chemistry.
-
I didn't mean to trade both. I was comparing the outlook between making a deal with Ennis included and no deal at all. I would only include and Ennis and Roy if another center was coming to the Sabres from somewhere else.
-
Agreed!
-
You missed the point. It's not that the Sabres had no one that could respond. It's that an entire roster refused to respond. 1 "person" doesn't change that, IMO.
-
A team with Ryan and Roy is better than a team with Roy and Ennis, IMO.
-
Times are tough, they are both currently unemployed.

The Sabres Hockey Hotline with... somebody or other?

If Vanek did it could really change the course of next season. -
There is also a couple of obvious facts: Most "enforcers" are Canadians. Giving jobs back to the Canadian kids will go over well with our friends to the north. "Enforcers" tend to be a bit cheaper. With the price of the high end guys going through the roof. Enforcers and older vets looking to just have a job are a cheap way to fill out a roster.
