IMO, spirituality is a healthy part of peoples lives, when it turns into religion it turns into something ugly and destructive.

The Catholic Church is a billion dollar Empire that allowed children to be rapped to protect their image and profits. You're right, under my simple minded reasoning, any business that sacrifices children for the sake of profit should be shut down. If news came out that McDonald's all over the country were luring children into the back rooms and employees raped the children, I would be posting all McDonald's should be shut down?

Exactly! Paterno was a big cog in a money making machine that grew more powerful every passing decade. They sacrificed children to protect the machine, it just seems wrong to allow the machine to continue operating. It's almost like Paterno and Company won. The machine will remain intact, which was their intention to begin with.

The vision gave me the impression of an abusive father figure type relationship. I can see Daryl torn between his blood kin and new family. He referred to group as "broken," I thought that to be an interesting choice of words. In Shane's defense, he did keep Lori and Carl alive and many of the decisions he made or lobbied for were the right decisions.

It's freaking HOT!

Doan to Carolina would be a blow to the Sabres playoff chances. If Doan signs in the East I have to hope he ends up in Philly, NY or Pittsburgh. Going to a team likely to be around the playoff bubble is not a good thing.

No reason to remove my post. What happened with the Catholic Church was equivalent to the Penn State debacle on steroids. It involved far more pedophiles and far more children. Why shouldn't a person have a right to feel that they should suffer far harsher penalties? My point about the players in uniform was more to the individual player being able to put the uniform on again after these horrendous crimes. The cause, IMO, is a University putting profits and reputation above the welfare of children. You are right, it could happen at any school. Sadly, it likely has and will again.

Funny thing, I never considered Shane a villain. IMO, he was caught between a rock and a hard place.

There seems to a build up for a Merle/Daryl confrontation.

No argument here. I would be just as happy seeing organized religion get the death penalty as I would Penn State football.
-
Those "thousands of faculty, staff, and students across multiple campuses" should be the loudest voices demanding the immediate termination of the football program. The reputation of their institution has been marred, they should do something about it. I don't see how any athlete could ever wear a Penn State football uniform with pride again.

The Bills opting not to follow the lessor restrictions regarding TV blackouts is angering. At the same time they are expecting tax payers to pay a $200 million renovation Bill at Ralph Wilson Stadium. Every time something like this comes up I get frustrated and think maybe it is nest for the Bills to just get it over with and move already. That $200 million could be better spent elsewhere, especially if the Bills can't take a minimal loss in ticket sales. After all, they are guaranteed a tidy profit by the NFL's TV deals before they sell a single ticket, jersey or concession. At the very least, that $200 million should be considered "ticket credit,"

You're preaching to the choir. Doan represents something the Sabres have missed for some time. A "top six" talent that can also play physical hockey.

A fantastic story for a Fantastic Friday. http://www.buffalonews.com/city/article947205.ece

If Penn State wants to work to redeem it's image, it should be a self imposed death penalty.

Hits are overrated  I thought Florida when i first heard.

It all goes to what would you rather have. Proven NHL talent or question marks. Right now Ennis, Armia and McNabb are question marks. It is more than possible that the Sabres don't get much more than 82 NHL games out of the three combined this year. IMO, the Sabres would be a much better team going into training camp with Pavelski and Clowe than they would be with Ennis, Armia and McNabb. Sekera is pretty much the Drew Stafford of the blueliners. They are both 26 years old and have struggled to find any real consistency to their game. Like Stafford, if Sekera continues to struggle again this season than moving him at the trade deadline should be a priority.
-
Since when are Ennis and Armia "top six talent?" They have a combined 38 NHL goals between them. I would rather not give up McNabb, you need to give up something to get something.
-
Ennis, Armia and McNabb are not the only 20 somethings the Sabres have. You make a deal like the one I proposed and you still have Myers, Foligno, Pysyk and the two number ones from this season. There is no shortage of youth. What the Sabres are short off is top 6 talent and toughness. These are two players that fill vital needs. You fill the needs and worry about contract status down the line.
-
What? Pavalski is only 28 and he is a center who won 58.7% of his faceoffs last season and scored 30 goals. Clowe is going to be 30 and is another big physical winger to play with Ott. If the plan is to change the indentity, or should I say actually give the team identity, these are two pretty decent building blocks.
-
This is a (D5) which means I just thought of this trade earlier today. To Buffalo : Joe Pavalski Ryane Clowe To San Jose: Tyler Ennis Brayden McNabb Joel Armia Why would San Jose do this? Cap space to sign Shane Doan. You heard it here first.

I would be a little more concerned about Semin never playing a full season. There are tons of concerns surrounding Semin.
-
We all know Semin has flaws. If he didn't he would have a contract somewhere for about $8 mil a year. Eleven's objections aside, neither Stafford or any other Sabre forward, has the offensive talent Semin has. I'm willing to weigh that talent against the flaws in game and character. There is a price out there that I would feel comfortable with. I would go $15 mil over three years with a breakdown of $6 mil the first year, $5 mil the second and $4 mil the third year. IMO, that is a big investment in a elite talent that can really take the team forward if it pays off.
-
He is also far MORE talented than Stafford. I'm not suggesting breaking the bank on the kid. For the right price the ceiling on his talent may be worth the risk.
-
I did watch him in the playoffs, I believe I even posted it at the time how I thought Semin had played well in the playoffs. Is there any doubt that our indispensable head coach would get the best out of Semin? ;) Even if the deal was front loaded making the third year easy to walk away from?
