It's like the Canes slapped $20 down on a roulette wheel. If Semin hits they get a pretty nice return. If he doesn't, they just walk away at the end of the year or even trade him at the deadline. They still have enough cap space to be in on any player that becomes available. The Canes will be an interesting team to watch in the East this season.

SMU got the death penalty for passing out cash and cars. That's a misdemeanor compared to what was going at Penn State. They covered up the tracks of a pedophile for 14 years. The football program should be gone forever.

The Rangers have traded some secondary scoring for a top line forward. The effect Nash could have may go far beyond point totals. IMO, that's Tortorella comes in. Look at his possible linemates. He will have Gaborik or Callahan on the opposite wing and Richards or Stephan as his centers. Nash scored 30 goals and 59 points with a lot less talent as linemates last season.

Remember, MVP is more than just stats. Crosby, Malkin and Stamkos are all obviously super talents. That doesn't mean Nash couldn't garner some votes without leading the league in scoring. IMO, Nash's talents, Tortorella as coach and the type of team the Rangers have is a great fit.

League. IMO, Nash is an elite NHL talent. I expect Tortorella to bring out the best in Nash. I expect to see a more defensively active and more physical Rick Nash which will lead to an increase in offensive chances.

We'll never know a player's true motivations. I would expect that Doan knows that he can get paid more if he leaves Phoenix. He appears to be willing to wait for a resolution to the phoenix ownership situation before making a final decision. That has to count for something.

I have a crisp new dollar bill that says Nash hits 80 points. The top three Ranger forwards scored 95 goals (Gaborik 41, Callahan 29, Richards 25) and 196 points (Gaborik 76, Callahan 54, Richards 66). Nash is not going to a team void of offensive talent. I expect Nash to have, possibly, his best season under Tortorella. I have a second dollar bill, not as crisp as the first, that says Nash is an MVP finalist this season.

Hopefully a big chunk of that money will be dispersed via law suits to many of the victims.

Doan represents everything this franchise has been missing. I would love if the Sabres could get 2-3 good years out of Doan the Sabres would be far better for it. Even if they have to eat a couple of years for contract. It would, IMO, be money well spent.

I love Jimmy Stewart in the old westerns. Has anyone been catching the Rifleman on AMC. They show tons of them on the weekend in the early evening. The plot lines were great, strangers shows up, Lucas kills him in the 2nd to last scene and his son Mark learns some sort of lesson. Mark was one of my first TV hero's, I grew up wanting to be the Rifleman's son. If I may add, the early 60's - 70's James Bond movies were better than the 80's to present James Bond movies.

The Sabres could trade Leopold in a second if they had to. If the Sabres could beat out the Rangers and the Flyers to sign Doan it would mean so much. It would be the type of signing that other players around the league will take notice of. I have a great deal of respect for Doan and how he is allowing Phoenix the time to solidify their ownership situation.

Two different issues. The Penn State molestation was confined, as far as we know, to this one institution. The molestation the Catholic Church allowed to happened covered many pedophiles assigned throughout many churches. It wouldn't make sense to blame all division one football programs because of one program. The Catholic Church is network. They moved pedophiles from one church to another. If the raping of young boys was as prevalent throughout all Division 1 football programs as it is in the Church than I would agree all Division 1 football programs should be terminated.

Did someone suggest shutting down all Division 1 schools?
