You are not getting a package of players for Tyler Myers. Kessel is every bit the goal scorer that Thomas Vanek is. Kessel is one of the leagues premier goal scorers. As far as Kessel being "soft", I can't consider anyone who beats cancer as being soft.
-
76 goals and Mogilny only tied for first. What a year that was. Two 70+ goal scores, another three over 60 goals and another 9 over 50 with 2 more at 48. I would love to see that level of scoring return to the NHL.

4-6-1is not the start anyone had hoped for. Time to see if this team is capable of carrying over the momentum of a last second goal and OT win.

Game Discussion Thread GDT: Canadiens @ Sabres 7:00 pm 2-7-13

Two players, Vanek & Pominville, producing at such a high rate while the rest of the roster languishes puts the Sabres offense out of balance and as a result you end up with only 3 wins in the first 10 games. The defense is horrible, I've said since the off-season that the defense was overrated. Then you have Miller. It's an unfortunate combination. You have offensive production that is limited, a defense that is porous and Miller who is slightly better than average in goal. It's a combination that has the Sabres exactly where they deserve to be at 4-7. To round back to the original point, Regier can not be happy with the offense of this team being so out of balance. If Vanek and Pominville have any dip in production the Sabres don't have anyone on the roster to step up and fill the void. Finding secondary scoring is as important to the success of this franchise as is finding some reliable D-men. -
You don't have to be a "stud defender" to be better than Tyler Myers. Maybe that's where the flaw in your logic is. Also, Mike Weber is not as physical as Schenn. Schenn is off the charts when it comes to being physical. No one said Schenn is a Norris candidate, just better than Tyler Myers, which he is.
-
That's BS, Schenn is one the leagues most physical defensemen and has been since year one. Right now all Myers has going for him is that he is tall.

It's scary to imagine where this team would be without Thomas Vanek. Before the game Regier said he was happy with the Sabres offense. I can't believe that is actually true. The Sabres got a huge break on the tying goal. I've seen about a dozen goals waived off this season because of less goaltender interference then what occurred on that final play. -
To steal a phrase, there is no room on this team for a 4x 30+ goal scorer. Realistically, there is no way the Leafs would give up Kessel for only Tyler Myers. Myers is on a three year decline, he just doesn't have the value. Myers is not Erik Karlsson, he's not even Luke Schenn. When it comes to Myers the best thing is to adjust expectations. Take Chara and the Norris Trophy out of the equation. At this point the Sabres should hope that Myers becomes a consistent NHL defenseman. Anything beyond that is unrealistic.

The sole reason for the Buffalo Sabres existence is to keep Regier and Ruff employed. Terry Pegula bought the Buffalo Sabres knowing nothing about owning a professional sports franchise let alone how to run a successful sports franchise. He's like one of those dimwitted restaurant owners on Restaurant Impossible or Kitchen Nightmares that think it would be fun to own a restaurant without a clue of what it takes. Some of us have stated for a while that after a few coats of paint and a new rug that Terry Pegula's lack of knowledge will hurt this franchise. And here we are. When all is said and done this season will be lumped together with all the rest of the wasted seasons where this team remains stagnant, unentertaining and predictable. At this point all the blame falls at the desk of Terry Pegula. He allows Darcy Regier to be GM and allows Lindy Ruff to remain as coach. Nothing will change until Pegula decides to be a "owner" and stops trying to be everyone's friend.

Buffalo News: Darcy on possible changes: 'It won't be the coach'

What would be the benefit of keeping him? -

With any luck Lindy Ruff will be Darcy Regier's Ronnie Jones. -
If I'm Enroth's agent there is no way he re-signs with the Buffalo Sabres. I'd have him in the KHL next season if the Sabres can't work out a trade. There is no reason to let the Sabres continue to waste this kids talent because they hitched their wagons to Ryan Miller.
-
What does Roy have to do with this?
-
I will say I have enjoyed watching other teams through Center Ice more than I have watching the Sabres.
-
The way Myers is playing I doubt we could get Corey Feldman in return.
-
My biggest concern at this point is Vanek feeling the pressure to do even more. I fear he will start pressing and ruin what should be a MVP season.

The problem is that the Sabres have too many players in the lineup like Leino right now. What they need are players that can produce. Leino hasn't shown he is better than Gerbe, Ellis or McCormick during his time here in Buffalo. If there is going to be a shakeup, it has to include unfamiliar names. Just rearranging the same guys isn't going to get things done. The Sabres need to look to Rochester or outside the organization to bring in players to rattle this locker-room and get things going. The only way Leino has a positive effect on this roster is if the Sabres waive him as soon as he is healthy.

Does Ron Rolston understand how to use two goalies?
deluca67 replied to LabattBlue's topic in Archive
It's not "unheard of" for any goaltender who doesn't get regular game action to struggle. The idea that any goalie, Enroth for example, should be sharp when he gets a call every 2-3 weeks is asinine. You can not recreate the speed and intensity of actual game action in a practice. Goaltenders are a lot like pitchers in baseball. A good baseball manager knows how to get his bullpen work so his guys are sharp when called upon. This is a major failure of Lindy Ruff. From what I have read in this thread it may be a organizational failure as well. -
I never understood how so many considered the Sabres defense deep and a real strength of the team. I just couldn't see what they were seeing, at least I am not the only one. The centerpiece Tyler Myers has not looked like a top pairing defenseman let alone a franchise defenseman. Sekera is Sekera, not spectacular but consistent. Ehrhoff is an offensive defenseman and not particularity strong in his own end. The rest is a collection of d-men that are either still young or have seen their betters days gone by.
-
I said prior to the season this is not a playoff roster. I'm not a Lindy Ruff fan, that shouldn't mean I am not going to look at this roster realistically. If you want to fire Lindy Ruff, it should have been done prior to this season. To fire Lindy Ruff based on this season with this roster is absolutely wrong.
-
What talent? This team's entire offense consists of Vanek & Pominville, the defense is an overrated joke and his goalie is Ryan Miller. Which coach out there can do anything with this roster?
-
Why do people believe this? This team is dressing Matt Ellis for Christ sake, they don't have room for Foligno and Kassian? I would like this roster better with Kassian, Foligno and Ott more than it is currently constructed.

The Sabres spent last off-season trying to bring in the player qualities that Gaustad was suppose to bring.
