GDT: 11/21/19 Sabres @ Bruins, 7 p.m. EST, MSG WGR

I'll be very curious to see how they play in the next game. I predict they will be back to sucking. They have done this for a couple years now. -

It was not called icing. Looked like Risto could have taken a different angle to the puck and gotten there soon enough to negate the icing, so it was basically waived. -

That's a fight 2 games in a row! I'll take it. -

I think I'm to the point where I'm actively looking for the Sabres to be humiliated. I love the Boston lineup and the philosophy behind its makeup. Bergeron is one of my favorite players in the game and it's always fun to watch him play. And nothing is going to improve now until Botterill is gone. So let's go, Boston! 10-0 please! No need to throw away another Sabres season watching garbage and hoping something magical happens. It would be much more efficient to simply fire Botterill and try again. -
Please. No sarcasm. Just get him in here long enough to go through our entire system and current roster and gut it. Babcock knows what a real hockey player looks like. He'd decimate our roster in 5 minutes and that is just what we need.

Botterill, "imperative to keep our depth on defense"
Kruppstahl replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
Right now Botterill is combing NHL rosters trying to find another Vesey or Sheary to insert into the roster, thinking it will be some sort of difference maker?? Someone tell him this thing needs to be stripped to bare metal and re-worked entirely. The sad part is you know Pegula is buying whatever Botterill is selling and thinks we are 1 move away... Holy crap. Remember that line from Darcy about the fans suffering? That has become a curse. One that may not be broken! -
What do you need to see before you're totally bought in?

This is why I'm taking the long view here. Things have no chance of improving as long as Botterill is the GM. So Job #1 is move him off the team. How long will that take? What will it take? And it will mean still mean nothing if Job #2 isn't done well: replace him with someone who is competent. Let's say we waved a magic wand and put this team into a first round playoff series. Can you imagine this group of soft cream puffs going at it in a 7 game series where opposing players are going 110% to win? The massively increased physicality of that, the wars along the walls, tightening up in front of the nets... We would get humiliated. This team is constructed in no way to win in the playoffs. Botterill doesn't even know what I'm talking about. (I guess it doesn't matter as they aren't constructed to win in the regular season either as it turns out). LOL -
I love this guy; his segments with Schopp and Bulldog are always worth a listen. https://wgr550.radio.com/media/audio-channel/11-20-travis-yost-schopp-bulldog

So then he's half way out the door already. LOL

General consensus among Leafs fans, I think it's fair to say, is that this was absolutely coming and it was absolutely necessary. Not much surprise that it happened or in its timing among that community.

As far as I am aware, that's kind of high. Thank you can get 'em for @$6 at least for some seats. It would be hilarious if it wasn't so sad; and I do feel for season ticket holders who have to watch their money evaporate like that. -
I'm on the "he's not ready for the NHL yet" side of this.
-
I believe his K was heavily front loaded such that he's already received most of the cash anyway.
-
Get it done Pegula! Make him HC and GM (if that's what he wants) give him total control, and pay him whatever he wants, then double it. LET'S GO

A lot of Sabres fans seem to think that because we have Jack Eichel, wins are supposed to fall in our lap. Just about every team in the league has a Jack Eichel, if not 2 or 3 of them. Some teams have players better than Jack Eichel. The difference is some of those teams also have rosters that are deep with talent and hard working, gritty, players who buy in and play a team oriented game. Yes, we have the Eichel piece. But almost nothing else! And people wonder why we have problems. Where did you come from? If only we could get you to post more often. Great post, well said, and as was mentioned a bit last night during the game thread, it all starts with Pegula. When you go through cyclical failure as this organization has done for this long, with this many names in and out, it has to be on ownership. Buffalo sports fans should know a lot about this, having suffered through so many years with Ralph Wilson and the Bills.
-
And a coach who refused to play him with Eichel, even though that combo was good for 40 last season.

At this point, seeing back to back wins would feel like a Cup Finals appearance! -
Botterill, "imperative to keep our depth on defense"
Kruppstahl replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
As long as you are going to go all anecdotal, how about mentioning: Tampa Bay: expansion team in 1992; Stanley Cup winner in 2003-2004. Florida Panthers: expansion team in 1993; Stanley Cup Finals appearance 1996. Las Vegas: expansion team in 2017; Stanley Cup Finals appearance 2017. Anaheim Ducks: Expansion 1993; Stanley Cup Champions 2006. Dallas Stars: Moved to Dallas 1993; Presiden'ts Trophy 1997; Cup Champions 1998. I can go on. This team has been horrid for over a decade. Stop the excuses. -

That's the real plan but he can't exactly come out and say that, so... -
He does a lot of things really well, but he is also flawed in many ways. He is not a full service superstar, but he will be paid like one with max term in his next contract. It's why I would like to see him moved for a solid return, if at all possible. I don't trust Botterill to get that job done though. I still can't believe we sat through that horrific tank year to get him. He is in no way worth 82 games of garbage hockey. These hockey seasons are long! When folks keep saying things like "it's the same old same old and the team needs to be changed up" they are saying "move Reinhart" even if they don't know it. Risto as well, of course, but now I'm thinking he has no trade value.

Nathan Balloon: Playing in Buffalo "Mentally degrading"
Kruppstahl replied to WildCard's topic in The Aud Club
“I thought I was stuck. I was extremely thrilled. Coming over to Winnipeg at the time I did was a blessing." When folks consider it a "blessing" to get off your team and get shipped out to The Peg, you've got serious, serious problems. -
If they post the interview at WGR-550 after the game, listen to Montour's comments. I don't like him as a player, but I love what he just said! He's calling a lot of stuff into question and not offering excuses. Need to be prepared to go right at the beginning of the game, they are all NHL players and need to get shots on the net, etc.
-
I personally hate the guy but he was warmly received by most Sabres fans. Good skater, supposed to be a good puck moving D-man who can add some offense. I don't see it. He's a good skater; that's it.
