  1. Sabres' Pegulas are going to make sure employees are paid if games are canceled Kim Pegula is also having employees work from home if possible https://wgr550.radio.com/articles/news/sabres-pegulas-are-going-to-make-sure-employees-are-paid
  2. On this note, if you are truly interested in the virus and want to educate yourself on it, watch this linked Joe Rogan podcast with Michael Osterholm. You will learn all that you need to know and then some in 1.5 hours. No editing, no commercials, no arguing and fighting, no communicating in sound bites. Just a long conversation with a guy who probably knows as much about this sort of thing as anyone on Earth. And then you'll wonder why you try to get news from traditional media outlets. Michael Osterholm is an internationally recognized expert in infectious disease epidemiology. He is Regents Professor, McKnight Presidential Endowed Chair in Public Health, the director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy (CIDRAP), Distinguished Teaching Professor in the Division of Environmental Health Sciences, School of Public Health, a professor in the Technological Leadership Institute, College of Science and Engineering, and an adjunct professor in the Medical School, all at the University of Minnesota.
  3. On occasion, Tim Connelly did stuff on the ice that very few--if anyone--has done before! The guy had "Oh my God, did you see what he just did?" moves in him somewhere. They didn't always come out, but he definitely had a certain type of talent and it was huge. He did a bunch of stuff that Sam Reinhart, for example, simply cannot do. And I point him out not because I think he is bad, but because he's a super talented hockey player in certain ways. But he can't do that crazy stuff Connelly could do.
  4. I agree that the math doesn't favor a retention of Botterill. But this thing is a lot worse than math! The man is pretty much clueless and easily a bottom 3 to 5 GM in the league (and that's being fair). If the intent is to always improve and get better, Pegula has to get a new GM. I agree he may well NOT do that.
  5. This thing will continue to grow exponentially for the next 3-6 months. The landscape will look a lot worse in April or May than it looks now, almost everywhere. My fear is that the playoffs will be played in empty arenas, if they are played at all. I'd bet a fairly decent amount of money that the regular season is effectively over right now. I think the Sabres have finished their campaign. Which is interesting, as this merciful shortening of the season (if it pans out that way) might just end up saving Botterill's job, as the really ugly Month of March we were about to endure has now been halted.
  6. It's expected to be 10-15 times greater than regular seasonal flu. In terms of everything, illnesses, deaths, etc.
  7. That mask you're wearing doesn't do anything to prevent you from getting this. Masks are made to prevent the wearer from passing things on to others, not the other way around. Regardless, this virus is like influenza. It spreads simply through breathing. Rather than wearing that mask, a better course of action (if possible) would be to not go into the store with lots of other people. We all do have to eat however!
  8. Not sure he's quite ready for EA Sports. ?
  9. When the smoke clears, it is expected to be 10-15 times worse than seasonal flu. That's in terms of fatalities and just raw number of illnesses.
  10. My immediate concern right now is for the playoffs. The NHL regular season is such garbage nowadays...but at least we always have the playoffs. But now maybe we won't! And if we do, the games might be played in empty buildings, which would totally suck. When your partner is your hand, I don't think it counts as a sex session. ?
  11. NBC Sports says the NHL regular season has been put on hold. No games tonight.
  12. How about his punching skills! I'm not sure it is possible for a Sabre to get in a fight right now. Who's going to do it? Simmonds? His best days are behind him by several years now...don't see him bothering to get in a fight. He's probably our best shot right now though. Risto is a huge, strong guy, and he is mean spirited by nature. That's all fantastic! But he wouldn't drop the gloves to save his life. Jack did try to get in a fight this year, so there's that. It's pretty bleak.
  13. A good example is that Hutton is already under contract for next season! I bet he sticks around next year, too! That could change if we have a new GM/coach, but if we don't, and if Hutton is still in Buffalo....ugh.
  14. Divide by pi you mean. Dividing by pie gets messy.
  15. Going with the Caps broadcast for this one. I really like Joe Beninati. One of the better play by play guys in the league IMO.
  16. Listening to Rob Ray's segment with S&B on GR-55 just now... He said that at this time last year, players on the team were saying to Rob "Do you think it's funny that at this point in the season and after all we've been through, I still have no idea what I'm supposed to be doing in the defensive zone?" Rob then said to S&B: "That's not good."
  17. Things are looking good for a bottom 5 finish.
  18. Hear! Hear! I think everyone that remembers the Aud well, loved it. Big hits behind the net and the way the boards/glass would shake and roll like a wave was moving through them. And the sound! That was a good scrap; Dudley could absolutely throw them and play hockey well to boot. Now we have Michael F-ing Frolik, who does neither.
  19. Let's hope so. We don't need any more of this regime.
  20. Because he's not injured. I think he is "dinged up" in the way most players are at this time of year. If he was truly injured, he wouldn't be in the lineup. Something is obviously bothering him though; he's not the same as he has been most of the year.
  21. This is ridiculous! Whatever....
  22. Nah. There are a lot of hockey stereotypes in your comments here. And who is it going to pay dividends with down the road? With any luck at all, this roster is going to look very different next fall. If Botterill is canned, it will look totally different.
  23. An interview or two ago (Botterill with Schopp and Bulldog) Mike asked who is an up and coming developmental guy in the system, or something like that. Botterill responded by talking about Reinhart! That was his go-to name for a guy who has improved and was developed well in the organization. Mike thought he was asking about someone maybe not even in Rochester yet, and the GM talks about Reinhart. Since then, Mike has referenced that question and answer a few times on the air, because it represents to him just how clueless Botterill is, and how he doesn't really have any answers.
