GM Kevyn Adams - More Moves Coming Soon?
Kruppstahl replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
This reminds me of a segment Botterill did with Schopp and Bulldog in the latter part of our season, back in maybe January or February perhaps. I don't really remember when it was. He was asked what bright, up and coming young players we have in the works, or something like that, and he answered: UPL and SAM REINHART. LMFAO. UPL is still a way's away. I do agree Hutton looks like an American League guy these days. -
We're straight up the worst franchise in the NHL, or possibly tied for worst with Ottawa. We're going to set an all-time record for futility trying to make the playoffs soon. We have played some of the most dreadful hockey you can imagine for nearly a decade now, icing an AHL lineup for some of that time... I agree. You can't overstate what a ***** show the whole thing is. In the near term, the only way it could get worse is if Eichel really does request a trade! Remember Darcy's comment about how this fanbase was about to feel a lot of pain? Or something like that? Holy hell was he not lying.
-
I wouldn't say that. It didn't sound that large to me. And when they asked for a moment of silence, the stadium was pretty much silent. Having said that, KC is the sort of flyover country where booing protestors fighting for social justice is popular, I would imagine. Never been there.

Well then, let's all add 1 more year to the Sabres drought right now. Not a lot going to change next season with this development, justified or not justified. Hockey desperately needs the huge TV money the NFL enjoys, and it's just not ever going to get it. The "I'll dig a well" era is over. Has been for a couple season now, I think. It was confirmed when they fired Botterill and the scouting department.
-
As much as we do critically need a very good 2C, as you point out, it's not going to be some magic fix for this team, as currently constructed. I would compare the current Sabres with a typical Bills team of the last 20 years, prior to the McD/Beane administration coming up to speed. Our overall talent level up and down the roster is below par, and until the entire team gets better, we aren't going to be very good. Of course there are a few exceptions. Jack has finally blossomed into his best self, I think. No need to improve there. Dahlin has an enormous way to go yet, but I have faith he'll get there. Larsson and Girgs are solid 4th line pluggers on a good team. Skinner, if used correctly, will go back to a 40 goal man (I have faith) and Reinhart is Reinhart. Lots to like, lots to not like. Sorry! Didn't mean to ramble on about Sabres in the playoffs thread.

What should we make of him? A trade package, that's what. Seriously, I still think the jury is officially OUT on him for a bit longer, but it doesn't look good. If he was going to pan out, his career would not look the way it currently does.

We're talking Tie and Glenn, right? I'll take them BOTH!

A guitar doesn't look like that from gigging for 15 years. It's artificially distressed. Not suggesting this guy isn't a hard working touring musician. PS: It's funny how the message of the song is "NHL hockey has completely passed me by, but I still miss RJ!" I say funny because that song could be my personal theme. Hockey has changed dramatically in my lifetime, and I used to enjoy a hell of a lot more; it was a completely different game in the '70s, '80s, and '90s.
-
Presumably this guy is from Buffalo. So why is he talking/singing with an artificial southern twang? I guess its supposed to suit the flavor of the song. Can't stand the artificially distressed nature of his guitar, but that's in vogue now. Anyway, he has some talent, and his heart is in the right place!

He's a zero hockey player as some of us pointed out the day he was acquired. Will be interesting test to see how thing are going to go in the near term with regard to him. Does the current administration value him? At all?

Ellis in as director of player development. At long last, our problems are over. -
Tonight's NHL Games Have Been Postponed Until Saturday
Kruppstahl replied to bob_sauve28's topic in The Aud Club
They didn't "join the cause". They were shamed into this decision so as to not look like racists or totally socially inept. All of these leagues will go right back to business as usual as soon as they can, believe me. They are interested in making money, not changing society. I'm stating the obvious, I know. -
Worst economy in the history of the country, global pandemic, NFL is biggest, sexiest sports business out there and these folks had their dream jobs....and they all quit together!? Yeah, nothing strange going on there. Pegula is a freaking nightmare. As I have said many times here, we Sabres fans (and probably Bills fans too) are now in an era where all we can do is wait for Pegula to die or sell the team. The Bills were stuck in exactly this same rut for 20 years.

The whole ROR thing went way beyond a single locker clean out, but it was still horrifically handled by Botterill and the organization, and remains--probably--the single worst trade in Sabres franchise history. Would a GM with much greater experience have retained ROR? I like to think so. Are we all much better off for Botterill's dismissal? Yes, for sure. Does it really matter who the GM of this organization is rolling forward? I don't think so. Not near term.

I've had 2 close friends die in the last year from cancer! Enjoy each day while you have them. None of us has any guarantees in life. RIP to Dale. I just found out about this today. Really bad news.
-
1: Because we don't play playoff hockey games anymore and regular season intensity across the league is low and boring. 2: Because we have a team of soft players who shy away from contact by nature, kind of like our old friend Derek Roy, most of whom were put here by Botterill, a terrible GM who never had a clue.
-
Montour is one of many bust moves from our old friend Botterill. Who really cares what happens with him? If and when this team ever turns a corner, he won't be on it anyway. You can say that about half the team. Or more.
-
Are you suggesting Jason Botterill was less than an outstanding GM? I watched a little of the Philly game last night. Even saw a scrap break out. I can't get past this being the wrong time of year, the empty buildings, and the boring product on the ice. This is going to be the forgotten season for me, where I look back to 2020 in the future and wonder why I have no memory of playoff hockey or who the Cup winner was. It definitely feels like an asterisk should go next to whoever wins this thing. This isn't quite 100% playoff hockey.
-
I've tried a few games and just can't get into it. Sat down to watch Winnipeg vs. Calgary the other night. No fans, no Canadian play by play guy, just Kenny Albert who I can't stand. Doesn't feel right. I thought the intensity/speed of the game was about normal, but this just isn't the hockey time of year. Some of the matchups right now generate zero interest as well. That doesn't help.

LOL. I love JR. What a freaking player, too! He has a screw loose. Several times, Rob Ray has mentioned on air that he very deliberately went around the league trying to make amends with any players he may have humiliated or hurt during his playing days. He has said that everyone he has approached has been on board with making peace--except one! Yep, JR. He just won't do it. I guess many years ago Rayzor said something very personal and "out of bounds" to JR during a game, and JR has never forgiven him for it. Of course back then, talking outrageous smack was absolutely a part of the game. That's all long gone now, sadly.

The "I'll drill another well" era is straight up over. The current administration is as concerned about money as ANY past Sabres administration. Don't believe me? Just watch what they do in the upcoming months. Don't listen to them, watch what they do.

The Reinhart situation is only one of many hugely important events coming up in short order for our new GM. Will be interesting to see what he does.

OT: Outdoor Roller Hockey around Buffalo?
Kruppstahl replied to Mustache of God's topic in The Aud Club
Where are you in WNY? I would just wander around your area and find an empty parking lot or something like that and go for it. You don't really need that much space if you are going to skate around with a stick and puck and goof around. -
Or hold a draft lottery that has no winner, necessitating draft lottery round 2 further down the road. I've heard the whole thing was sort of a PR tire fire, but then again, the lottery usually is. Watching the NHL try to make itself relevant is never a good thing. I wish they would revisit their "limited interest, small regional sport" status and embrace it.
