"Now here's Galley mixing it up with one of the Flyers. They're all the way over at the penalty box! I can't even tell who that is. It's either Lacroix, Daniels, or Kordic. Whoever it is has his shirt right up around his neck." "Woah what a hit by Campbell! Holy Mackerel! Campbell stepped into his check at the blue line, now they're all chasing after Campbell!" I remember the moment that was uttered live. Great Sabres moment.

We all know "May Day!", "La la la La Fontaine" or "Top shelf where momma hides the cookies" and lots of other standard (and great) RJ fare. But who can come up with some really good ones the rest of us may not know or have forgotten about? I mention this because I recently was reminded of one of RJ's greatest lines ever, which many Sabres fans may not recall. Rob Ray was fighting Steve Webb of the NY Islanders. RJ: (Speaking of Webb) "He got a few in at the start, but boy oh boy did he pay for them at the end." For me, this remains one of RJ's all time great lines.

You're just jaded. Just kidding. This is said to be a rather weak NFL draft class and the Bills having no first round pick doesn't help as you say. I watched the first 3 picks tonight just to see what happened. When it all went down as the pundits said it would, I switched to my recording of Caps/Rangers. Still watching it now. Currently 1:0 Washington, 13:35 left in 2nd period . For me.

As a point of clarification, I would like to mention that I ADORE Jujubees as well! I would not have the guts to eat them now though, as they are tough on teeth. Anyway, you have your jujyfruits, your jujubees, and your "dots" not to mention your gummy bears and Swedish Fish. Jujubees are the best.
-
I wouldn't give Babcock "Emperor" power in Buffalo, but he won't come to Buffalo. And shouldn't you come from the land of "X, Y, and "jujus" and not "jujubees"? I assume you are referencing Tim Murray. It's still in central Alberta mind you! Roughly on the same parallel as Moscow and southern Sweden. Not sure that's a great landing spot for anyone, including eskimos.

The current trend in hockey is indeed a concern, at least for me. Wondering who will get lucky when a shot bounces off someone's shin guard in a scrum in front of and into the net is not really very interesting. At least for me. And most of N. America by the way. Rather than make fun of a goalie's size or fitness level in the 1980s, look at the EQUIPMENT worn by these guys now. It's absurd. So are these modern composite sticks. They should be made illegal. It's Mickey Mouse to allow high tech sticks; ML baseball was smart enough NOT to allow that crap with a bat a long time ago. The same thing has ruined men's tennis. Go back to wood, go back to modest goalie equipment, and make the nets a few inches larger to allow for huge goalies in the modern era. All these things are needed post haste. Unless the NHL wants to continue to be out-viewed by PBA bowling. I guess that's their call.

Ha ha. Yes. Also clock-less casino. When you are voluntarily giving away your money to a large business concern, the large business concern does not want any distraction present to stop you from voluntarily giving away your money. This phenomenon is called "gambling".

I'll be shocked if Babcock ends up in Buffalo. Don't ask me to explain why. I can't. He won't be here though. No need to debate this now. Time will prove this to be correct.

Bingo! Too much power stemming from a single source is almost always bad. The input Pegula has provided to WNY is nice, but you really don't want your city owned by a single guy. I don't read TBN or Mike Harrington and consider the lack of end of year PC unimportant. The organization probably does have a responsibility to provide one, and they probably should have had one, but it wouldn't have yielded many answers to the questions Harrington lists at the end of his column. I have noticed that the same fan base that attacks TBN tends to praise Ted Black, specifically, and I find that curious. I have listened to Black countless times when he does his weekly visit with Howard Simon on GR-55. That man is creepy, most certainly dishonest, and a brainwashed corporate stooge. Those people do what is best for the company always and it is a sort of bizarre religion for them. Trust that man as far as you can throw him. Didn't mean to go off-topic. Sorry about that.

No problem. We have to see what happens with Calgary, Detroit, and Minnesota and who advances to conference finals. The pick would go from 21 (now) to 18-20 depending on how things play out. Not a bad draft slot, but not certain to net anyone special either. Still a lot better than a kick in the teeth though! Interesting, thanks for the info. I haven't bought a new pair of skates in quite a long time.
-
I think these new skates have pop-out blades for quick changes rather than filing an edge in the heat of battle. Something isn't ironed out there and they seem to fall out easily. Kind of like these sticks. I've said for a long time that defenders on the PK should use wooden sticks, if they can find someone who still makes them! Not sure about Round 2 start time. No updates as of yet.
-
Should be in the 18-21 range with the loss tonight.
-
What's with the skates? They seem to shed blades easily these days.

Reminded me a bit of "May Day".

Tampa gets a 5th goal. This baby goes to Game 7.
-
Had a lot of open net, and he shoots it into the goalie.

PS: Watch Kronwall's technique when he Kronwalls someone. It's kind of cool; he actually accelerates backward into his victims when he does it in his classic style.
-
I missed the Kronwall incident. That's it! I think I'm switching over full time to the Detroit game!

ha ha. I hear you Eleven. For what it's worth, I detested whisky of any type until about a year ago, then developed my palate for scotch as I developed an interest in its making. I have a good friend who won't touch seafood of any kind, which strikes me as crazy, but everyone has different taste. I've noticed that my taste for things has changed as I've gotten older.

Ike, Samson, and Zemgod Gorgoroth works for me. And on that note, Dee-troy-it gets a goal. Though this does look like it's going 7.
-
Holy crap. I am watching DC/NYI Game 7 and completely forgot about TB/DET! Thanks for your post! I will pull for TB tonight, so as to bring about a Game 7! Can't have too many Games 7s in the playoffs.

I voted for the 2011 alternates, which overall, are a heck of a nice sweater with a vintage theme. I know it's not popular, but I have never been a fan of the blue, white, and gold color scheme. It's not attractive. I loved it when we went to the red, white, and black. They looked mean. Not a fan of the goat's head, but who is? I love our classic logo...in a red/white/black/silver type color scheme could be really cool. I guess our history/tradition is what it is, though, and so blue, white and gold is what it's going to be. That's OK. I do wish they would dial in the blue color better though; I like a deep navy blue for that.

Your second paragraph is closer to what I was trying to get at. I suppose my point was that, whether real or just perceived, it seems like there isn't a single team in the East that scares me as a Sabres fan. A few years ago, I couldn't have said that. I think there is room for some type of creative spark to hit the Sabres which sees us in the playoffs sooner than anyone would guess. Whether or not that hits this upcoming season, though, is another matter. It might another couple of years away.
