Hey, did you design your avatar or did you find that on the internet? I only ask because I think it's a great piece of graphic design. If you did it, congratulations to you!
-
Yes, but why? This is quite true.
-
Hey, let's use this an opportunity, as Sabres fans, to come together and cherish...I don't know. Perhaps the "now do you believe" moment in Ottawa in 2006 or whenever that was.

Can't we take our collective panties out of a bunch and forget about these ancillary concerns for at least tonight? We don't even know if Babcock is coming to Buffalo, and if he does, well, who cares about the ancillary concerns. I personally have no stake, whatsoever, in the price structure associated with NHL coaching. Do you? Then why are we talking about it?

I'm not sure what the youtube link was supposed to be, but I'll give you a hug, Biodork! I'm at least half responsible for this situation.

The $50 million total package is not necessarily based on term x annual salary. A hefty signing bonus could easily be incorporated into the mix here. For example: 6 years, $6.5 million per year, $11 million signing bonus = $50 million. Or whatever else they decide to cook up to get Babs in the door.

No, no new Pope. Wait! I mean, no new coach. As your avatar would suggest, I say: Dip it, whip it, and skip it! Two times over!
-
You mean "Guinness" ??? Wait. I'd much rather have a good Köstritzer Schwarzbier anyway.
-
Are you talking about nicknames for Babcock? What did you think of my suggestion of "CROMO" ??? I see your point. Speaking of Guiness....who would like one right now? I would. I love Guiness.
-
No, I haven't. Are you suggesting Hoss is less than sexually desirable? Well, I can't compete with that! I'm tapping out!
-
Who wouldn't like that, eh? You sure about that? My guns are made by Rheinmetall and my optics are made by Zeiss. You're dead meat before the fight starts. You want in? EDIT: That was a joke Wildcard! You were the first person at this forum to welcome me and I love you like a brother. Well, that's not really true. But no hard feelings!

I'm in on operation "RESET" and let's hope Babcock comes here. I think most here think he is a great coach and the best we could hire to replace Nolan. Yes? Also, although we are hearing mixed signals, it sounds like there is at least a 50% chance that he does in fact come here! This whole conversation is going to move far forward tomorrow. I'm looking forward to it.

Well that's interesting! Here is an interesting point during the tumult that is the rebuild around here: At some point, we have to convert high draft picks, trades, prospects, free agent signings and all of the general "opportunity" around here into flesh and blood that plays night in and night out on the ice. It is an interesting question to ask who you (or anyone) thinks we have "in the bank" at this point in time. I would put "Big Z" near the top of that list, right behind Risto, and ahead of Pysyk (as far as the D is concerned). So you think Zadorov is expendable I guess. That's interesting to me.

I don't disagree at all. Did you see my post above? It was post #1627 (LOL)...

Sweet mother of Gawd! Can we go back to the beginning? The idea here is to discuss whether or not Babcock will become the new coach of the Sabres. I hope he will be. I think we will find out by this time tomorrow! I'm a Sabres fan and have watched them closely since the late 1970s. I hope you are a Sabres fan too! I think we both want to see the Sabres win a lot of hockey games and win the Stanley Cup. I think Mike Babcock would help us do that.

You just want to phuk with me b/c I'm "the new guy" in this little world of 14 daily posters. Admit it.
-
Hear hear!
-
I am "pigeon holing" no one. I base my comments on what people type. Why are you pigeon holing me as "the new guy" and why do you present this bizarre, gang-oriented "turf" view of a conversation about hockey!? I.E., this website is "your turf" and I am the "new guy" encroaching on it! LOL. Where the hell does that come from? Are you in a gang in real life? Please explain.
-
Oh, I'm not trying to suggest I chatted with Mike Babcock 10 minutes ago and know what he is thinking. Did it come across like that? I have no idea what his primary concern is with the upcoming choice he has to make. I am just telling you that whatever his wife thinks is not the controlling factor. I will guarantee that. I don't need to know Mike personally to type that.
-
You have to remember that people on forums like this come from disparate walks of life. Not everyone has experience dealing with all sorts of different things.
-
Yeah but Weave, what people in public positions say in public and what they think in private are two different things. You get that, right? Also, even if the family was a consideration (it probably was in some small measure) it is not the controlling factor. If it is not controlling, it doesn't really matter for our purposes, right? We are trying to guess if Babcock is going to come here or not. I mean let's be honest: if he doesn't come here as the next coach of the Sabres, I have no interest in the man at all. I assume that is the case among most posters here too.
-
You strike me as shockingly young, naive, or both. That's cool.
-
In terms of another full season in AHL: Big Z: no. Eichel: no. Reinhart: more questionable but likely no. At least that's my 2 cents. Wo! What? You think Zadorov has a 75% chance to be in a different organization? He is 1/2 of our future shutdown defensive pairing. Curious why you say that.
-
Can we stop with "the wife" now? This has nothing to do with the wife. I know for a fact Darcy Regier's wife didn't want to see her husband fired and have to move to Phoenix, Arizona. I am pretty sure Lindy's wife (still living in WNY) didn't want her husband to have to live in Dallas for most of the year. happens. A guy like Babcock is a focused, driven, ambitious, goal-oriented over-achiever and he is going to do what excites him on a professional/personal level. The wife can stay at the family domicile in Detroit while Babcock lives in a secondary residence in Buffalo during the season. These guys are on the road half the time as it is during hockey season. It's not a big deal.

No clue what your point is. But what the hell.
