I can understand the teams position here. They could end up having to pay him a million a year more than they have him valued at. If his agent is asking say 3.9-4.0 then let him hit the market. I would be surprised if he will get close to that when teams are cutting people.

Eichel can ask but he is under contract. I believe with a few smart moves we can accomplish the improvements without trading #8. I'm not against trading it but not sure who's out there to make it worth #8. The cost constraints we're under now will dictate a lot about how we work this.

I've thought for a while now that our defensive stats looked better than the defense really is. I know stats are the stats but this defense doesn't seem to put games away giving up leads . I thought going into the Rams game it would be a high scoring game and the offense would have to win it not the defense. The Rams have a good offense and are a well coached team but giving up a huge lead like that?

Agree. Tampa has the most talented roster which as it should be if you win the cup. It doesn't always work that way but all being equal t should. I'm not looking that high, I guess, but I certainly think we are not far talent wise to playoffs but to actually compete for a cup? A ways to go. TB is going to be good for awhile but the team you see now will, I think, be torn down a bit for sure. Meant to say torn down a bit this off season.

Regardless of speculation on who's still there at eight if we're going to entertain trading the pick doesn't it make sense to wait until the draft goes a few picks in?

I honestly believe he's worth more to us than the return we'd get for him.
