I actually get a good level of catharsis when I read the “I’d rather miss the playoffs” posts. Like actually seeing it in writing I get reassurance I’m not insane in thinking it really, really is easportsgmmode for some. The team and its assets are like a collectible item I just want to win lol. Maybe you have to be born in the 80s or earlier, I dunno. I just view sports differently. I’d have a lot of fun sharing wins with friends no matter how they come. it’s not even about the playoffs anymore. I don’t really only view on roster talent through the prism of offensively talented snipes, though. I get what you are saying but I don’t think people at large have a very good grasp of the fact that talent only matters relative to accumulating points in the system the nhl has constructed. The overall acumen of their roster is better, and they did a better job fitting personal to player, coach to roster They field a roster a coach could elevate - I think that’s what’s being missed.
