Only prediction here is we make all 8 picks since the 2021 draft Adams has selected 11, 11, and 8 players. 30 as opposed to the regularly scheduled 21. He doesn’t really move draft picks and if we start the day with 8 we’ll make 8 picks

I’ll add that those players might be better elsewhere but that’s a reflection of those players continuing along the growth and development track we could already well identify while they were here

It would be better had they not been in the position they needed to, or rather, felt they needed to, move those players. The returns themselves are ok to reasonable.

2024 Stanley Cup Final - Edmonton vs Florida

But he folds -
I suppose my distinction here is that your post leaves the door open to, should we have another inactive offseason, write the offseason off as “well it wouldn’t have mattered, anyway” if we see something similar to last year re: the core, during the season. This is a tact I see used around here a lot, even if not by you, so I feel the distinction has merit and should be raised: “wouldn’t have mattered if KA brought in a goalie…our PP was too weak”…”we wouldn’t have won last year even with a more proactive offseason if that’s what we were going to get from Tage and Cozens”.. I don’t believe these things to be independent events, nor those types of statements accurate. I do believe a lot of what we will see from the core depends on the approach KA takes this offseason, tangibly but mostly mentally. So, in the hypothetical situation our core underperforms after a generally lacklustre offseason, we’d be left wondering how that core might have performed with a better offseason, not talking about how offseason additions wouldn’t have mattered because of what we got from the core. too fluid and dependent

Absolutely disagree After what we heard from Kevyn Adams about the complacency in the locker room last year, a reflection of their GM’s offseason, it’s exceptionally easy to see that we could reasonably expect more of the same reflection should the GM yet again fail to be proactive. You have it backwards. It’s not “we won’t be good regardless unless the guys here are better” its ”the guys here aren’t going to be good enough unless they are adequately complemented by outside addition this offseason” The additions are important both to aid the overall talent level, but to facilitate the talent we have both literally, and especially especially mentally I can’t for the life of me square this opinion that Adams was right to address culture, yet the complete ignoring of it now as far as what they take from how he operates

Maybe higher first rounders? One thing you find is most teams are made up of mostly first rounders. Nature of the draft/league

You clearly don’t remember prime cognitive function It’s relative. Him and a couple teammates have been dominant relative to the other players re: those scoring totals. He’s not “folding”, that’s my only point. I wasn’t even talking about Sid, who’ve I’ve said is a top 5 player ever -

Folds, after first doing the opposite, by leading his team with over 30 points over 3 playoff round wins before getting shut down by the team doing it to everyone your hockey takes are divorced from reality -

The issue is natural selection. Think of which fan process will have been most rewarded and reinforced by following the Sabres these last 15 years and you’ll have your answer. The operative tool was textbook negative reinforcement. The negative aspect being “taken away” by this gradual shift in priority is the disappointment in losing. Poetry is as much about feeling the pain as the joy and the poignancy that comes from the delicate balance between the two, so it doesn’t surprise me you haven’t had much interest in looking for silver linings in the losses and im much the same way: I’d kill to have that feeling of the gut wrenching playoff loss again. Remember that? It’s that feeling where you can’t even yell and be mad, you just feel oddly flushed, and an odd, sinking feeling in your stomach. It’s not the joy you lose over time, not really. You can be conditioned to love the draft steal. It’s that it’s a hollow joy because it’s not accompanied by the equal but opposite sense of despair that arises when your team goes down where it really matters. There’s no true threat of failure if you go too far down the futures rabbit hole because it’s exceedingly difficult to fail by the parameters of the future when the future is, by definition, eternally abstract.

Other, good teams get cap relief they desperately need, we get cap relief while seeing our advantage in this area over other teams weakened as we already had space beforehand (when other teams did not) space we didn’t use ended up a missed opportunity alas Rich richer

I have him up there too, and think quite highly of him, but I think 2C in two years is a pretty lofty timeline. We’ll see. -
Saw this for the first time recently and it was good not great

He can pass well but he’s a shoot first player

Excellent post. It’s not a coincidence wwe is drawing its highest ratings in years. Definite boom period for them. They have the model And thankfully Vince is gone

His “scores” call isn’t good scooooooooooooooores. Sounds like an air siren. It’s like you want to hear a higher toned inflection during the “ooo” part and his octave goes deeper, if anything. it sounds like from the part I have queued up to when it quiets down the first time

He’s not very good. Seems like a good dude. I’m probably not the best person to ask here because of how much RJ ruined it all for me for other broadcasters I will definitely have a more balanced opinion when this happens id wager
