Sabres sign Forward Sam Lafferty to a 2 year 2 million dollar AAV Deal

4th line, def. There’s still a massive chasm at 3C, but it’s early -

I agree they still seemed focused on the LT cap -

Krebs is 3C so far - - - These additions look reasonable so far, we should have a good 4th line. Im not sure I’d bet on additions beyond shoring up that line, though, tbh. We said the Skinner buyout only makes sense if they spend the money, 5 mil for Zucker will help get there -
Sabres acquire Forward Beck Malenstvn for 43rd Overall

I agree to an extent as a fact of the matter, but it makes perfect sense why fans would be conditioned to expect disappointment: what could we honestly fairly expect after this long of replicated results. im often torn between believing they surely have to do something to change, weighed against wondering why I would ever have the nerve to think we’d break trend -

It’s a reasonable add and the “overpay” is whatever. I wouldn’t even deem it an overpay if I had my way but i understand the prospect world by and large thinks differently none of the angst over this dude is anything other than anxiety and frustration over the makeup of the team (and therefor perceived lack of action from the GM) as a whole. And that is also reasonable -

Sure, but I think the team as a whole is weaker. We can say “there’s more to these moves to come” until the cows come home, and that very well may be true. But, counting chickens, and all that jazz -
No, you had it right the first time: if he “wants” to make the playoffs in 2025 but his priority is 2027, he should be fired If he’s *equally* weighing 2025 and 2027, he should also be fired. You don’t have the luxury of equally prioritizing two years down the line when you haven’t earned the goodwill from one playoff roster in 13 years and 4 already under your watch. That prioritizing of later is demonstrably handcuffing our ability to convert in the now. I don’t think that's the case though, I do think the focus is on playoffs cause I think he’s gonzo if we miss

There’s not just more work to do there’s more work to do than BEFORE the draft Beck is not as good as Skinner, obviously “Just scratching the surface” is a dicey proposition and im not sure at his age I agree with that either it’s a reasonable depth piece. Spade a spade -

The point of it is his calling card is “in the AHL” -
Rumor: There has been word that teams don’t want to deal with Buffalo
Thorner replied to Buffalonill's topic in The Aud Club
Nah. 75% of the league is sans NMC. If you can’t, from a combination of the draft and 75% of the league pool, establish a team that’s 16/32 once in 5 years, the problem is inarguably the GM. Math doesn’t check out otherwise. We aren’t special, plenty of other teams that constantly find themselves on NMC lists. None go more than a couple years missing I agree though that it’s baloney teams won’t deal with KA. Not only is there too much evidence to the contrary, it doesn’t make logical sense: there’s no good lowballing if you come away with nothing, what’s the end game? The moment two teams are competing for an asset lowballing becomes irrelevant If there’s smoke to the “teams won’t deal with Adams” line of thought, it’s definitely because of KA’s reluctance to part ways with value Right? lol Preach It’s not only an excuse, it’s a bottom barrel excuse -

Can’t even give him a nickname Kleber-er? -
Well you know it’s the sentiment. But saying he’s focusing on a period of 2 years from now would be absurd to me. I don’t even actually think he’s doing that anymore I do think he’s trying to field a playoff team now I think he’s on the hot seat

If he can be spun right now into Dakota Joshua in theory, does that mean he can be seen as Adams “big swing” this offseason? -
Exactly. They can’t just be lowballing him when there are other people competing for the same assets. What good is lowballing if you don’t come away with anything? In cases where there are no competitors, sure, but that’s usually not the case if it’s a reasonable asset

Adams and Chevy are indeed talking. I can tell because we still only have dial-up internet in Manitoba and I can hear chevy’s modem trying to remain connected

Already ready to weigh in here, gonna take a break for some cornhole - nice draft from KA. Always seems to come away with good value for his picks. Not going to pretend to know enough to evaluate each pick individually. - disappointing team-building draft weekend from KA (so far). Always seems to come away with a disappointing haul from these things we’ll have to see what he does over the next week through FA to get a sense of his offseason
