  1. I’m just ready for the real games to start. Can’t glean anything from these and I’ve seen too many sporting matches over a long lifetime already to be entertained by exhibition games at this point. Coming down on the “I think they are slightly more likely to make, than miss, the playoffs” side of the equation for (seemingly) once definitely helps rev the engines. On that note, im going to try and focus a little more one-track-mindedly on the actual games this year, and try to spend a little less time annoying people around here. As anyone can see it sometimes gets me too stressed and snappy and unreasonable, I think a bit of a “return to the roots” season is in order. Sometimes all the noise can feel overwhelming, if that makes any sense. It should be a fun one. Lindy, you have the Conn.
  2. The letters were in the fine print of those contracts - - - They’ll probably switch the As based on home/away, that adds a bit more authority/rigidity to it imo
  3. even the coaches are buying in to the Samuelsson is 40 narrative
  4. He comes across as looking like a 40 year old man On the positive side, the fact they gave into that frivolousness with the As means they must have been pretty darn certain on the C To avoid it, there
  5. I respect, and am thankful for the fact they didn’t use a nickname in the actual captain announcement on Twitter
  6. So, does that mean just Savoie?
  7. And it’s better it’s not Tuch because we don’t need any additional reason to feel inclined to give him a long term deal that isn’t related to actual production
  8. Will just repeat what I said at the start of the other captaincy thread: “Dahlin / Dahlin Easy choice Best player, longest contract, plays almost every game. Reliable. Still young. Young guys look up to him. Drafted by the team. Draft and dev strategy needs a draft and dev captain”
  9. Hockey’ll be played. We shall see how it goes
  10. It’s not who you play but when you play them. Catching them early while we’ve been rostering basically our full nhl team most preseason may help.
  11. So just outside. Checks out imo
  12. Hopefully darkest before the dawn
  13. Ah ok looks like I misread it
  14. I’d have Makar, Hughes, Hedman, Josi, Fox ahead. Dahlin probably about 6. Morrissey is terrible at actual defence, him behind ranked beside Dahlin is a huge tell their list is wonky
  15. Many a truth uttered in jest. Yesterday seemed no exception
  16. No you can’t start all over again. That’s what got us into this mess
  17. Say what, “we back!” when we throttle them? Media day says these guys are ready. I’m not sure for what..but they are certainly ready
  18. He was poor all of last year not just in Buffalo, should be mentioned - - - The put up or shut up vibes are *awfully* similar to what we said last offseason just ftr I don’t expect the narrative would change much if we miss this year The time to put up or shut up isn’t now: it’s already passed. Right now the name of the game is salvaging a playoff spot
  19. I just thought it sounded funny tbh
  20. You do see more centres in this mould nowadays I think a lot of it is because, once in the O zone, guys are free flowing and going wherever they want regardless of position - this imo would be due to possession being the name of today’s game. You gotta keep moving to do that In terms of positional designations, it’s really mostly D zone stuff, to others’ points up thread
  21. You’d be surprised
  22. Briere was a fantastic playmaker
