I do agree with you on that. The season isn’t over because of 3 games. Their body of work in totality is FAR more troubling re: their prospective chances of making it this year, than the 3 game hole is. For a competent team, it’s overcomeable

This is only a relevant factor if that team, by scratching the surface at game 25, is able to then catapult itself into a playoff spot via that development. And his position on the team, the production we are counting on him for, and his long term contract, are all directly down to the GM. It’s not Cozens “fault” he’s not good enough. You spend to the cap. very simple answer. teams that spend to the cap don’t always make the playoffs, but those that dont basically never do, so it’s a very good place to start. there’s only 2 potential reasons we aren’t spending to the cap: 1) Pegula is cheap 2)Intentionally, to save money for our RFAs Both would point to debilitating issues. It’s such a disingenuous cherry pick to only hold him to the standard of last year yet look to the better performance from earlier years of the other players. He had a down year and STILL paced for over 50 points last year. He fits literally anywhere on the team. Skinner was a pretty good player. We cut him and replaced him with nothing. That’s not arguably a good strategy. It’s inarguably a bad one

It’s not fun at all in a Sabres relative sense. Just fun in terms of the draft being fun in general if you love hockey. It doesn’t become more interesting with the sabres getting a higher pick anymore because high picks don’t translate to wins for this team. There’s no more consolation
