  1. Panthers are a very deep roster. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if we missed Peterka as much as they missed Tkachuk.. JJ was one of the only guys who looked really good game 1 imo They obviously aren’t close as players, but anyone at all scoring right now would stand out a ton on our team
  2. Peterka/Tkachuk is more less an even trade-off lineup relative, it’ll largely be up to Tage Thompson to captitize on the extra space Barkov’s absence at C will provide, both at evens and with the man advantage. If Tage is going to have a breakout game to jumpstart his season, today is as good a day as any
  3. Or getting better chances
  4. I think we are shockingly bad relative to where we should be, after undergoing needlessly long rebuild after rebuild, and where we should be in a GM’s 5th year, more so that we are actually bad. We are way better than the start would indicate, imo we are probably still somewhere in the middle where playoffs look like a tall task but remain possible I’m sure I could be swayed by another few losses here but I still think it’s too early to say the record is reflective, not quite yet That we’d only be .5 games back of the cup champs with a win today demonstrates how small the sample size is, yet At least on this one particular season
  5. We can’t lose every game haha. We’ll take this one.
  6. We also get the backup tonight ”this is how we win”
  7. I might actually watch this since the baseball game got moved to noon. We’ll win this, no way in hell we start 0-4 that’s ridiculous. Quinn has his first nice game of the season, leading to a 2-goal power play performance for the team, and a 4-2 victory.
  8. Michael Scott was sincere
  9. Absolutely. Do You believe icing a young group that takes longer to adjust to a new system presents a potential issue in a year the playoffs are the mandate? Or do you not believe playoffs are the mandate?
  10. The floodgates definitely WILL open at some point, not a prediction, a certainty. There will be positive regression, they aren’t going to average one goal a game that’s ridiculous - The Hawks finished 32nd in gpg last year at 2.17. We are at 1.00. We’ll explode at some point even just to get back to normal bad. Then who knows from there
  11. In a year where playoffs are the mandate, do you believe this presents a potential issue? Or is that potentially not the mandate?
  12. But, as @dudaceklikes to say: not altogether inexperienced As Sidc3000 always says: most of them are seasoned players
  13. LaFontaine warned him remember when he turned down a higher position.
  14. Are we allowed to post the heatdaddy rant on the Sabres today? Too NSFW? It’s therapeutic haha
  15. In the time of chimpanzees I was a monkey Butane in my veins and I'm out to cut the junkie
  16. I think they’ve done a good job figuring out which numbers often correlate to success. There’s still a massive chasm re: identifying the how and why of when they aren’t predictive They often are not painted as an avenue for success, but rather the achievement of success itself. “It’s only a matter of time, if the numbers say this.” erroneous. They are missing a trick: the factors preventing the numbers from bearing out in the macro
  17. Ya I mean he can definitely be a reasonable player. My issue was always with the misreading of his value to the tune of suggesting he was the team’s mvp, which happened a crazy amount, and that absurd contract. It’s not even that expensive: it was just ridiculous to sign him up for the term we did when we did. No upside only downside. I was almost the only person torpedoing that deal at the time so you’ll have to forgive me for reiterating that point What would he cost now? Assuredly not any more than we already paid. Probably less. We aren’t gaining anything but the handcuff of a locked in term At the end of the day the deal was exactly what I said it was: part of a messaging offseason where we wanted to show everyone he and others “wanted to be here”
  18. Bingo
  19. Adams didn’t let Botterill do anything. He merely reported back on what he saw Krueger, sure
  20. It’s not so much “because of the fanbase” as it is the fact the chances of those poor stretches showing up far too much going forward go WAY up when you commit a poor stretch to record that early. Ie the chances of the stretch being an anomaly but also randomly showing up at the first available opportunity is low We don’t posses the mitigating factors the Panthers did when they started 0-2, ie: a proven roster
  21. It’s more so we lost our 3 upon first available opportunity
  22. His legend was built on a misreading re: correlation and causation
  23. Agree, honestly still surprised by 5 of the 19 making it, though. Leaves room for some hope I suppose
  24. The other sports thread is like the fast-food drive thru for being told your takes are wrong in an expedited manner
