  1. Skinner w/ 4 points today is, interestingly, close to point a game right now. It's so positive to see him rebound to being as good if not better than ever imo particularly given his contract
  2. Dahlin with 22 in 18 as a D altogether more impressive Still, that's 2 bonafide all stars
  3. Yup, and as I was responding to your notification: That's a good start to the REG win
  4. It's a good point. We loved them as a L3, didn't much care for them as our L1
  5. The good thing about the fact we acquired a bunch of potential 2Cs (Krebs, Mittelstadt, Cozens, Savoie) is that it was always a reasonable strategy because it's a good odds-play. A couple of them not meeting the mark isn't disappointing, it's likely. But it also appears to have worked in accomplishing it's positive goal, too: Cozens looks like he'll be a damn good 2C to me. If Thompson holds up at 1C and Cozens is a good 2C, not only is that a reasonable spot to be in for your top 2Cs, we may end up w/some found money on Savoie. Like I've said a million times - the easiest way to find yourself with successful prospects is to limit the expectations of what you are asking for them. If Savoie only "needs" to become a good 3C... hey look out
  6. I watched the Cornetto trilogy again recently (about once a year) and...Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz are legitimately masterpieces. Not being hyperbolic. The third one is pretty reasonable it just suffers from being weak relative to the first 2.
  7. Concerned for his stay-healthy Karma if he's going to elbow people in the head. Yes I know I am the furthest from old-school but I really don't like blatant head shots.
  8. THANK you. And I apologize for being a condescending ass. Let's never fight again.
  9. Just win! Or, are you thinking we'd be at a disadvantage in OT
  10. Ya man I didn't really intend for it to come off that way, I am admittedly struggling to get my message across in a way I feel like you might read. If you read my posts at all before jumping in initially, you would see that our opinions are actually aligned. You took issue with a factual statement I made that stands on its own, about correlation between winning and spending and somehow that began to become conflated with the idea I want them to spend willy-nilly. I'm not really sure what to say: aside from clarification on the point you jumped in @ me with initially....I agree with you. Like, I beg you: read the posts. This is *exactly* what I am saying. We aren't disagreeing - you are attributing a position to me I haven't taken, and have this whole time. Again, don't really know what to say.
  11. I always favour the playmaking, my bias - - - On another note, I am glad Samuelsson convinced Tuch to start skating again
  12. So, what you are saying is, the Sabres are ill equipped at this stage to withstand the types of injuries the more established teams can? This is the crux of my argument, yes
  13. The pass Dahlin made on Tuch's goal was actually absurd Desperately need him to stay in top 3 for D-points so he gets a Norris nom
  14. Quinn is on a .5 points per game pace, as a rookie Reinhart-esque and very good
  15. Ya, I feel like if the advanced metrics look bad for us that period...plus the fact we were outshot - don't really matter - so much "score effects" going on there re: us jumping out to the quick lead. 3-1 period is 3-1 period, and it's a great period.
  16. Good aggressive forecheck pressuring their D
  17. Obviously lit a fire under them scoring 3 quick, if we can weather the response into the intermission should be ok
  18. My stream just started 🤣 Streams are a barren wasteland with 66 down. Dahlin rules.
  19. Win today avoids setting the league mark for losing streaks this season
  20. Anyone else get the impression we won’t “break out”’ as a team until that second line breaks out re: even strength production? Still really like the look of the mess of talent on that line, hoping it clicks in a way worthy of their individual skills and potential sooner than later Interestingly, Jost at C Only KO and EC out with injuries, now, correct? Hope we keep on this trend.
  21. 4-4 versus Canadian teams so far this season.* *no, this is not an argument for the necessity of maxing out the cap
  22. For *one* game. Being out a Samuelson and a Jokiharju for a stretch is not an injury anomaly relative to other teams, don’t care how many times I need to correct it Being out a couple players assuredly IS how sports work - good teams just have the depth to withstand it. I cannot stress enough that, in future, the path to success is winning in spite of said injuries, not in avoiding them. That won’t ever happen. I wouldn’t argue it but you could even argue that Adams is blameless because it takes time to accumulate depth and there’s “nothing he could have done” in supplementing the D. But it still doesn’t change the fact that it’s not bad luck. Even if this team can not win without Samuelsson (like, if he’s, say, in a small group of players we can’t afford to lose right now), unless he truly has MVP value of the type NO team could afford to lose, being unable to withstand his loss is a symptom of the team not having the depth required to be “good”, quite yet. The Sabres deserve their record. I’m not saying it’s good, I’m not saying it’s bad, I’m not saying it should have been better or it should have been worse. It’s simply an accurate reflection of the roster they assembled. They are their record.
