  1. On the contrary, it absolutely potentially can: the difference between making it or not could EASILY be one solitary point the entire WAR for this deal, including the messaging to the team, can’t be 0.5? I think it absolutely can
  2. But presumably there were players available in that sense the previous 2 deadlines? We didn’t make a move, then ymmv, I still see relevance in the timing You don’t think there was any impetus on the deal in terms of how it might help this season?
  3. “A” for me, because I like to read tea-leaves, and for me all variables considered, it was reflective of a mindset that makes me hopeful. Non-negligible possibility this deadline amounts to zilch long term (in fact that’s probably likely - even deals like “best trade ever!” tend to evaporate to nothingness in a matter of years sometimes -) but we clearly were looking to make improvements to a team that, statistically, has been continually improving Dahlin practiced today and that was as good as a bong-rip (legal here, no illegal content in this post, I never smoked before it was legal, either), truth be told, so I was all buttered up to like this one
  4. So he’s got a limited series on Disney + on the way got it
  5. Agree on goalie I feel like there HAS to be a “help the team get in” competent for this year, no? If not why do it today, at that last hour. I know he’s here beyond but I can only imagine the talent pool is greater in the summer and if anything prices for acquiring teams is higher at the dead-line
  6. Foiled again. ill try again next week
  7. Ok how about this: They said on TSN just now, framed as trivia, that the Sabres were the only NHL team to make no deal on either of the last 2 deadline days Trade a signal of priority change?
  8. Freudian slip! checkmate. Sorry, dems da rules
  9. Once the core has been accumulated, you mean Wait...you don’t?
  10. Because of Bryson, our short defenseman
  11. Semantics, but I don’t think many league players care that Asplund moved today. Frankly, a fairly large share probably don’t even know who Rasmus Asplund is. But again, semantics: the agents certainly pay attention
  12. Well what the hell is your letter grade for priskie/strand, then? Can’t give them all ranks but 1
  13. Well, good deadline day everyone. Fine posting all around. Three cheers, (hip-hip!), collect your loot bags on the way out.
  14. That’s an interesting dynamic then for sure
  15. Re: the defensive additions for next season? So the ramblings were true. Score one for the insiderzz and score 1 for KA not being purely interested in Saints
  16. Good inference though, here ^ If teams were asking for Savoie, we were “in” on some bigger fish
  17. The original Muel, ftr But unlikely. Franzen was a playoff beast
  18. Hagel was a great pick though! It’s not like he forced Botterill to hate CHL players Murray was a reasonable drafter imo
  19. You know how they say a car loses half it’s value once it’s driven off the lot? The Mystery Box always has a level of appeal. “Rasmus Asplund is Rasmus Asplund, but a draft pick could be anything! Even Rasmus Asplund!” This isn’t the logic KA used here but I’m using it to illustrate the fact that, often, draft picks have more value left unopened
