Even when I’m not trying.... -
By what metric are you saying he developed quickest? Quickest to .88 ppg year 3? Imagine a fair few have done that. Eichel went from .69 ppg year 1 to .93 year 2. Quickest as in year-over-year turnaround going from a low-ish ppg to a high one? Imagine Thompson’s is more severe The biggest year 2-3 jump, specifically? It’s possible?

Nope, we haven’t been yet. I think with the seeming emergence of the team, the time is getting ripe

Took the drive from Palm Springs, winter vacation home. But he’s attempting to see an NHL game in every arena, and this checks another off the list

I just think that if he’s good enough to stick until December, considering our F depth, in a year where playoffs are the goal, that means he’s playing pretty darn well. The rookies who are excelling usually *don’t* get loaned to the WJC. I really think next season team success is the primary priority. If we keep him up after 9 and he’s really hitting a wall, sure, loan him He played 9 games total. The stipulation you used was Savoie was with the Sabres though December. I don’t really see that happening if not based on merit. We aren’t running a dev camp next season. if he’s playing well I’m not loaning him, plain and simple. He’d be an NHLer

Guenther plays on the tanking coyotes Shane Wright played 8 games

It’s so dumb

So Savoie will be the best option to aid our playoff push through the 1st 3 months of the season, but yet mid year we ship him out to the WJC, to the detriment of the roster? If Savoie sticks in camp it’s because it’s best for the team, now, so I would be operating by those same terms mid way. On another note, does anyone have the underlying metrics on Girgensons? Not doubting his aptitude but I’ve only seen eye test arguments made in his favour id guess they’d be pretty reasonable? No actual idea truthfully though

I agree. Just because we have players who can amount to more than VO here, now, doesn’t mean VO can’t be used to a greater harnessing of his abilities on another team, than he is currently, here. We’ve seen him with much more well rounded numbers in the past I’m sure KA would point to that in a potential trade, too
-
It’s not like VO doesn’t have a history of racking up a lot more assists than he is currently, too. We aren’t the only team that can improve players by fit The “VO is only a trigger man” thing was actually one we actively argued against until this season, which actually is an outlier re: his overall production VO was averaging 32 *assists* per 82, over the last 3 seasons, before this season where he has 9 total

Dahlin and Thompson have both registered points in 70 percent of their games played this season. Dahlin in 40 games this year out of 57 played, Tage in 43 in 61 games played. Our next 2 leading scorers, Tuch and Skinner, are at 65% and 66% respectively After that, Cozens has found a way onto the scoreboard in 58% of games. No one else above 50.

Are the Sabres out of the running for the playoffs?

Ok how about this - We are far enough into the season that we’re at the point where if you go to nhl.com and click on the standings, it automatically sorts by *wildcard standings* - and the sabres are in a spot by points % at this time. Super Stat or Meaningless Number? Wish I could simply say “in it”, but, that’s the best possible skew. Islanders situation is so tricky. By math we’d make up the 4 points with our games in hand but they’ve got the tiebreaker. So as of now we’ll always need to think about getting that one extra point more. In reality still plenty to go anyways, really. About our play over the final 21 obviously much more than just that 4 games. Looking pretty good so far -
2 McConnors in the league soon
