Not really. I suppose he has a chance to exceed the 50 but it’s gonna be close 2 years ago: Hey look at that, Dylan DID take that Scheifele like scoring jump, and Casey is on the left wing. I said all along he’d be the guy best suited to W

Adam Fox is the current internet All-Around D Guy and Dahlin this season is pantsing even him, metrically
-
If he’s in for anyone other than Dahlin, Power, or Jokiharju it’s negligible Bryson and Clague aren’t very good and Lyubushkin was terrible yesterday
-
Not minor, I was mistaken. But actually for a different reason lol. For whatever reason I was thinking Calgary when I said Hamilton. Did he play there even? lol. Morrissey Jets (ala western Canada) and ya, had Calgary in there. So New Jersey for Hamilton: but is still have Dahlin as the East’s front runner Edit LOL ok he’s not even on NJ he’s on Carolina. Played on Calgary, Jersey, and Carolina, all 3. The most dealt Norris contender in history

I’ve seen a lot but other than in winnipeg, only an exhibition tilt against the Wild at the Ralph one year. I think it must have been 07-08 pre season or something. I remember some fan in the crowd talking up Kaleta and how the Sabres finally had some toughness and just thinking “I’m still upset about the talent we lost” in my head thought better of a debate, though. in person

More less what I think / hope but I suppose we’ll have to see Like I said, I buy the idea of Karlsson getting it and even deserving it: my problem would lie in Dahlin not finishing 2nd, let alone not getting a nomination at all
-
But the eastern media usually dominates, no? and isnt Dahlin the top guy in the East? 2 guys from western Canada in Morrissey and Hamilton who are having inferior seasons make up the gap because they’re from..western Canada? Tbh I think you are stretching here. There’s a combination of blinders possible to have Dahlin 7th or 8th or 30th or whatever you apparently have him finishing in voting but I don’t really see it
-
More than that one, too Plenty more
-
Who do you have in 2nd if they miss?
-
I don’t think I see those players being acknowledged over Dahlin, save Karlsson. What argument does Morrissey have if the voters care at all about actual defense? And yes, some do. There isn’t a noteworthy points separation fox and Hamilton are the only 2 to match Dahlin’s defensive numbers and they are currently below on offence, but more importantly especially Hamilton play on significantly deeper teams with better goal differential. Dahlin’s +/- more impressive, here. The only guys to match his offence (or exceed it in Karlsson’s case) fall way below on D. I could def see Karlsson coming in above Dahlin due to the raw offence but Morrissey is right there with Dahlin on O (Dahlin has the better points per game, rate of production, anyways) yet there’s a chasm of D. No argument for him maybe they go raw points for just the top 2 nominations, so Dahlin 3rd in points misses out, and for the 3rd nomination go with one of the 3 best defending Ds from the pool of Dahlin, Fox and Hamilton and choose to pass over Dahlin here for a vet. But they’d really have to be intentionally squinting, pretty hard, to avoid the fact, while following that process, that Dahlin was the one guy sitting most solidly on both sides.

I wonder if they ever put in a “Bobby Orr”’ most D points award What if they miss? Nomination?

I believe so!

This is to say: - Anderson generally only allows goals ~ 11% of the time on shots like that, but McDavid while outpacing the league itself betters Anderson’s average by scoring on 17.5% of them. A whole bunch of luck balled up for McDavid elevating this number well above average on the year or does he just.. be Connor McDavid sometimes? Answer is obvious to anyone watching Looked fine to me overall tbh. Not his best game, admittedly, but he seemed to come on late imo -

“The difference was that on the bang bang plays, ours *HIT* Skinner” You mean, their All star was better at “missing” the goalie with his shots? Haha. You are just describing aptitude and confusing it for something it’s not because you are sitting at a conclusion you are determined to reach regardless of what the data says. You would never just admit their top guys played better no logic in it. I think some miss the fact that: situations where a perceived “unlucky” result happened don’t mean no other result could have ever been achieved, that randomness just decided to take over. Does McDavid miss the “unlucky” skinner miss where he threw it threw the crease on open net? Deflect a puck in to the same spot that Cozens does, allowing for the “lucky” scenario to arise? Of course not, skill can still supersede it. a great shot can lead to a goal where a good shot leads to an “unlucky” close miss - that’s truly the rub -

I respect your opinion on this I’m just never going to get there with these players. Basically reminds me of Crosby’s golden goal vs Miller. Defended miller then and pumped Crosby’s tires, when lots were saying it was a weak goal: the really good goalies are good at stopping the “good” shots partly because they expect that: great shots are what they practice stopping. In practice. the quick, awkward little shot near the skates is tough. It’s the quickness. The release. It takes an uncommon release. Too quick for the G to even think of doing anything other than playing it like an 80s “stand em up” goaltender. It takes the Crosby’s and the McDavids but once you see them replicate it enough times you just have to give the damn devil his due -

Best player in the world, maybe all time scores 2 goals to set a new career mark for points in a season with 124, in game like 60, and people really be like “difference was puck luck” good grief no, the difference is McDavid didn’t rely on luck. Skinner tossing a puck horizontally through the crease on an open net isn’t bad luck it’s a bad shot McDavid scoring five hole along the ice isn’t a fluke it’s hockey genius born from his lightning release. *He repeats the act continually* -

Difference was McDavid -
One thing I’ve also heard is they are pretty traditional and look at +/- which would put Dahlin in a GREAT spot re: winning it unless you think it goes to Hamilton or Fox. If Dahlin can stay ahead of them in points he’s probably laughing I could absolutely see it going to Karlsson, though. I’d love a nomination for Dahlin to start with

Agree they aren’t an excuse. Wouldn’t say “should’ve” as Oilers are pretty good but I agree it’s one we “had” to have. They all are, now. Disappointed we didn’t get it. GDTs are fitting for that type of reaction, personally, imo. In the moment threads. -

Feel pretty strongly about this tbh. 20 games left in the season - we came into this “in” a spot by way of points % (even though some didn’t like looking at it that way) and now we aren’t - I’m fine with my lasting reaction not being, “that was a good game.” -
Haha Jets blew 2-1 lead w/ 11 second left and lost in OT to the Sharks
