  1. Is it 10 spots you can move up or 9? BPA
  2. Deluca 500, ie, not losing more than you win, will be a tough ask- one behind that mark currently, since the Sabres dominant performance against Winnipeg, the Sabres have played 17 games, winning 6, and losing 11. Coincidently, there are 17 more games remaining. While certainly possible, to finish above Deluca 500 we’d need to win 10 and lose 7
  3. We’ll certainly have to keep expectations reasonable, then
  4. I swear, if I hear Adams say even once that they didn’t get a good enough look at Comrie to evaluate him this year, I’ll flip my lid
  5. Good thread title, honestly, softened the blow Is Samuelsson ever injury prone...reminds me of Bogo a bit I was my own worst enemy here re: The Pace Game, which I always caution not to play when possible. Well, this is why. What’s happening to Dahlin here is eerily similar to Jack’s 19/20 actually where about 75% of the way through the year the bruises added up from being leaned on all year, the points fell off a cliff, and playing banged up more less grounded the pace to a halt
  6. He looks ok and I’d have him in the mix for next year but nothing close to “Ah, another locked in top 9F as part of our future core forever and ever”. Maybe he makes the team next year, I think he’d be a good 4th liner most likely at least. maybe we recoup the asset and deal him if he doesn’t Wouldn’t be the first, or last, deadline acquisition to not be long for their new team
  7. It’s all of a 15 page GDT against the rangers on a Saturday during a “playoff chase”. Keep your expectations low True fan / team synergy
  8. We’ve lost more games this year than we’ve won. Always tough
  9. He needs to pick up the rate before it’s more of a question of holding off the likes of Brandon Montour
  10. Yet another misread. this isn’t my ocd like analysis traits, It’s about my conscious desire to value the experience of watching as a fan rather than a GM. i can’t just be a poster on sabrespace I said I was damn thrilled to be in a playoff hunt and that I’d HANG A BANNER (do I need to link it?) if they made it to *10 games left* with still a good shot to make it. I was willing to spot them 10 games, they could have collapsed from there. didnt come close to happenning. It’s all good, I get the progress thing, I post enough that anyone would know I think we’re on the right track. but, forgive me, I was all jacked up for a playoff chase and losing a bunch of games ain’t no playoff chase. its been 12 years dude, I’m not apologizing for this. There’s a Dixie chicks lyric somewhere here. so, ya, respectfully, you missed the point - what I’m lamenting is the loss of what could have been a marvellously fun ride, as a fan. i get that “GM thorny” can see the long game. But human being thorny knows only today is guaranteed /rant
  11. We have players like Tage Thompson, Dylan Cozens, and Mattias Samuelsson signed to long-term extensions, and we know they have not hit their ceilings as players. They are going to continue to get better, just like the rest of our players. ya, I know
  12. It does start to get to me a bit when the expectations get too low. I was down with “meaningful games in march” (which, let’s be real, isn’t an exceptionally extravagant goal), but if you get to march and you..don’t win any of them, they stop being meaningful real quick. It’s ok for the overriding emotion here after losing 6 of 7 to be disappointment and frustration rather than “what a well played game”, but, it’s obviously a ymmv thing I too am glad they lost 2-1 rather than win 4-1
  13. A lot of our best players are in their primes, they know how to play defence. They don’t need to learn how, they already know how. Of course the rookies can be an exception but I think we already *can* play like we did today on a regular basis - it’s just that it comes with a sacrifice of offence. We’ll get better when the talent can accomplish more while playing within either option or a combination or both, ie, a better Quinn will defend as well as today but find a way to get on the scoreboard once, as well). Also, KA can help by improving the roster ie defenders who don’t NEED the system protection a lyubushkin needs. By and large next year Granato can’t just say “ok now do both” and wave a magic wand. Our goal differential has been reflective all year and like they said themselves, they’re tired. Some of the top guys aren’t producing at the clip they were (skinner notwithstanding) because we’ve relied upon them pretty heavily all year + how condensed the schedule is hurts. But if we had a bit more depth they’d probably have a bit more tread on the tires here, again, going with KO’s own admission
  14. Rats ass. maybe we get a meaningful march next year
  15. Certainly picked a bad time to have his longest pointless streak of the season
  16. One lost face off and we essentially don’t touch the puck again for the rest of the game. I don’t understand how 3 vs 3 has a single fan. Horrendous format
  17. I can’t agree with this. “Still need 5 every night.” Even leaving the D exactly the same a really good goalie opposed to a poor goalie will make SOME difference. It’ll get us half way there And yes, fix the D. That’s the other half. anyways...
  18. Last 5 gp: Dahlin: 1p, -4 Lyubushkin: 2p, even
  19. I think Skinner has been in on 89% of the last 100 goals scored
  20. Our new best player Jeff Skinner
  21. That quick pass BACK to Peterka from Quinn was sublime
  22. Dahlin WOW saved a goal What a sick play from Dahlin.
  23. This is the type of game Vesey scores in lol
  24. I hope greenway is up to it b/c Dahlin is on with the Thompson line often and we don’t need that unit hampered Bs no call
