  1. 25-33%? That’s amazing
  2. Given his physical perspective I don’t think that’s ever likely to change
  3. Yes, Levi, I get it. Sorry, do you think it’s more likely he DOES play in the NHL, than does not? Like he’s a better than 50/50 shot to be a mainstay nhl tender? I beg anyone to look at the hit rate of 5th round picks, and 5th round pick goalies. It’s not some sort of hot take for me to say it’s more likely he doesn’t meaningfully pan out. It’s not pessimistic it’s just reality. Of course there are exceptions. But if you could just point at every late round prospect and go “look, Levi again” then Levi wouldn’t be “Levi” as we think of him at all, he wouldn’t be special. At least this far, though unproven as an NHLer, he’s tracking in a very abnormal way relative to his peers
  4. Benson would have to start the season in the NHL to get a tryout, though, right?
  5. It’s a big deal and I think people appreciate it, but it’s still relative. Part of the reason he fell to 13 is that it was such a loaded draft up top - a lot of teams added a really good player to their systems, too. Benson HAS to be a great player for us to “gain” here, relatively. And sure I do think he’s got a great shot at that, being one of the best in the class. But it’s still a high expectation to level Saying this as someone who has him ranked 1 for us. He’s a great prospect.
  6. I'm not quite as high on Kulich as most and while I really like Savoie, too, Benson to me..I'm probably just biased towards his playmaking, high-quality defence blend of game. Obviously he's a competitor too but I just like the mix he brings a little more than Savoie. But, again, I don't really know anything about prospects. Mostly it's just my impression from reading Benson Savoie Kulich Östlund Rosen ..are kinda a tier to me. I guess there's a bit of a gap after Kulich but these 5 to me are the A guys at F, and the pool in general
  7. It's funny how quickly even one injury can make the depth look different, and rest assured those injuries come quickly. When you have higher expectations, addressing these depth concerns in advance isn't a luxury.
  8. Norwin. Good movie. Eddie Murphy is a genius
  9. Quinn now being someone we need to cover for, for the first few months of the season does up the level of, not urgency, but...perhaps it reinforces the commitment to parting with the right asset in a hockey trade. We just used all 8 draft picks, we always make all our picks, nothing wrong with turning a bit of that overabundance into the now much more critical issue of the team's fortunes in the coming hockey season. A big step is expected so the next bit will be pretty interesting. I'm interested to see when/if the dam breaks on all this action that's supposed to happen league wide. It's fairly odd
  10. elite prospects is always good for a little bit of hype: "Miedema has dual-threat scoring potential. He easily turns passes into blistering wristers, curling pucks around sticks when necessary. A clever passer, he chooses the right pass for the lane whether that’s slip, hook, saucer, or backhand. He spots his options early and guides teammates into space with his feeds."
  11. There's always exceptions. Just telling you the odds, Han
  12. He's a 5th round pick, it's much more likely he never plays in the NHL. We're already comparing Levi to Hasek I don't think I'm ready to call this dude the new, new Hasek
  13. The Getzlaf of goalies
  14. I'm counting Levi on the NHL roster and I think Benson is probably the best prospect we have It's more so what I've heard, I'm no draft guru More of a draft Gru
  15. Norwin? Sounds widely right tbh
  16. Do we get the required 2 NHLers from this draft? Benson is a lock. For me, Strbak is likely. There's a tier after these 2 though, IMO. Wahlberg and McCarthy have a shot. The rest have a shot in the dark.
  17. What was the X for? Was joking
  18. Looking at the roster I agree, this would be a really big help. The top 6 looks like it'd be totally fine without Quinn but in my example above the 3rd line of Peterka - Krebs - Rousek has talent, but is pretty unproven for the third line in a year playoffs are a must. You can keep Greenway there, but then the top 6 gets a question mark. A more veteran add to help on Line 3 should the guy like Rousek/Kulich tread water as you say, would go a long way
  19. Me neither, really... I don't think the injury changes the offseason approach, injuries are par for the course and they would have been operating as if they needed to assemble the depth to account for said injuries, from the beginning. Maybe we were sitting at something like this before the Quinn injury: Skinner - Thompson - Tuch Mittelstadt - Cozens - Quinn Peterka - Krebs - Greenway Girgensons - Jost - Okpsoso ..With Quinn out, I assume they'll fill the position with the most ready-to-contribute player we have. Not sure who, maybe Rousek? Skinner - Thompson - Tuch Mittelstadt - Cozens - Greenway Peterka - Krebs - Rousek Girgensons - Jost - Okposo People who were excited to see what Greenway would bring in a full season, who expected the staff felt he had a larger role in store, that's become even more important now. I imagine he more less just slides up one line, top 6 if we're lucky maybe doesn't miss a beat, and the biggest thing is just hoping Rousek, or whoever the option is, is ready to go. We still need depth is this injury already forces a guy like Rousek into the lineup, so I assume Jost or equivalent is signed, and assuming VO does get dealt, maybe we get an NHL F back/look to add one from outside for depth purposes. Looks like we'll need to add at least one vet depth addition, though, assuming VO is still on the way out.
  20. Very balanced, to my eye. Four defensemen, 2 of which are RHD (the higher selections) The usual swing at a goalie Three forwards, with Benson being arguably a top 5 in-draft talent. Likely represents our top prospect at this time. Too early for grades? General thoughts..
  21. Ranked #203 by McKeen's and we took him 205. Massive steal.
  22. What a fast draft. I'm still on my first cup of coffee ffs
  23. Adams drafts a lot of Canadians
