  1. I think he’ll add by trade but rarely, and only during offseason and at the deadline, that’s all I am saying
  2. I just…. I find this to be retroactive spin. Even if that was the case, it’s not like that proves he was smart to do it that way: that still wouldn’t be a very good way to enter a season. With 3 unknowns so you waste valuable points while you wait for one to eventually get on a hot streak. Not in a season where playoffs are the goal. It would still be better to say, have a more established unit going in. And also because, and I keep saying this, we’ve always needed 2 guys. If the plan was for one capable guy to emerge and 2 below average guys, that’s not a good plan! He’s only doing “ok” by the terms of an already questionable plan, by scoring 1 out of 3 on a test that cost us standings ground
  3. Ya, Jost was a waiver claim. So I was wrong about him. But I still maintain we won’t see a trade in season before the deadline. Likely ever. You have to think, there’s few trades league wide in general during that time. Not until deadline usually. You DO see some moves and you CAN make them but their rarity illustrates even the more neutral GMs (patient vs aggressive wise) aren’t generally making trades during the time period. And I think it’s fair to say our GM leans a little bit away from neutral on that scale
  4. I thought they were deadline additions If not I stand corrected
  5. Adams is A) aware these things are out there and B) almost undoubtedly feeds it with his own sources
  6. No, nothing has changed. He banked on one starter, and had a prayer for a backup. He got the one starter (maybe) and his prayer wasn’t answered for the second guy The point of adding a competent 2nd guy was to have 2, including Levi. Since Levi is in Roch, the plan is a wash. He got half of what we needed
  7. Yep sigh Resolve, apart from the other injuries we and every team will be faced with by then. But resolved in the GM’s mind, yes. Adding someone isn’t/wasn’t an option Quinn going down with plenty of time to replace him and the GM neglecting to do anything at all is just a frankly solid outline for the type of proactiveness we can expect. Adams isn’t a creative solutions GM he has hard line principles and evaluations he doesn’t move on from, the rest call fall where it may
  8. I think this is probably true. The only thing important was that the fans were made aware there was “effort”. Best of both worlds in the GM’s mind imo
  9. We always needed 2 though lol he kept 3 because he wanted one of UPL or Comrie to establish as a backup behind the guy he anointed number 1 one did, but Levi bombed, so he’s at square one with only half the goaltending addressed if the plan WAS to only get 1/3 to emerge, the plan sucked He miscalculated. He got lucky. And i guarantee you he’ll settle for a half-fix and we’ll all be told we have to be ok with it because after 4 years of doing crap all for the position, heck, at least we have sort of ok goaltending now, maybe
  10. I think they do have an approach that fits young players. I think it’s also fair to say that we could have tailored the roster to be in a position to be receptive to other approaches. That is to say, not nearly exclusively field a team of young players, and by so doing necessitating the approach you outlined
  11. The Sabres aren’t going to add anyone in-season before the trade deadline, and never will, as long as Adams is the GM Not saying this to make a point about Adams or anything, it’s just true. He’s not proactive. He’s barely active. He’s “in discussions” with a fair few players, and social media is sure to make sure the fans know this, but that knowledge is the endgame, in itself The Kevyn Adams Buffalo Sabres are very much, distinctly that. The Kevyn Adams Buffalo Sabres. They are their own distinct version of this franchise and have hardline rules notably different from before
  12. I try to give the benefit of the doubt. It’s why I said for the sake of argument in the offseason I was ok with Levi as the starter if we brought in a capable number 2. Well, it still looks like we are at square 1 where we’ve got one guy I’ll give the benefit of the doubt to (UPL), and we are lacking the second guy
  13. He’s just lucky one of his 3 unlikely bets placed landed. Imagine how his decision to anoint levi the starter would look without UPL stringing together some good games. It’s still not great but at least improved over last season
  14. Well, kudos to KA in admitting his mistake Hopefully he learns from it
  15. Honestly….. I’d still kick all the young guys off my team if it meant we could make the playoffs this year. I forgive any fan for lacking the “patience” to wait on the one prospect among every 5 or so that actually lives up to expectations..why hold it against the fans? You can’t understand why they’d be more inclined to favour results in the now? The way young players develop, or don’t, hasn’t changed in 13 years. Some have, some haven’t. We still haven’t won. Fans are a product of the experience, when compelled to remain loyal to a product when in almost every other consumer case they’d simply move on. But sports are a cruel animal. I’m sure you’d get more patience with development once we ever actually develop into a winning team. The lack of happiness with developing players is merely a reflection to the actual results team wide never arriving - it’s not hard to understand that
  16. Our overall goaltending output is *still* below average this season. Was there a guy available better than the output our other 2 are currently contributing? Absolutely I don’t fall victim to arguments where the other poster can claim “hindsight”. I don’t allow that to happen. I talked all offseason long about the necessity of having not just a capable starter but a capable back up. We still don’t have that. My argument has not changed. I’m not throwing a parade because in a GM’s 4th year he’s finally found a way (contrary to how HE thought he would) to field slightly below average goaltending The standards are so, so low here, all of the time. And twice on Sundays.
  17. He’s amendable to the results of the position since he took over: that’s the job results have been poor. Once the results are good, Adams will have done a good job that’s it I haven’t altered my stance on this, and I won’t. The results are what matters
  18. You should ABSOLUTELY take a victory lap even if it’s early. I try to do it whenever I can lmao As of now, you have the conn I post to GA about him having Mittelstadt all the time no one posts about me having skinner Dahlin and Eichel so I do it myself It’s just that there’s a certain segment of fans who’s bread and butter is to “Steph Curry” any time anything good ever happens to Buffalo, as if they are the better fans because we, wrongly, had gotten upset at points along the way about things not going well when they, you can be sure, never doubted a solitary thing
  19. No, the apology form is stupid if it’s meant as anything other than a joke. I’m not apologizing for sh*t all to a franchise that hasn’t made the playoffs in 13 years lol come on now. He was poor so we said he was poor. If anyone said “he’ll absolutely be bad for….ev…..er…for….ev…..er….for….ev…..er” then ya that would be a bad take
  20. I meant that he didn’t add any coming into this year. I just added “last couple” so I didn’t have to deal with the “but who even was there?!” excuse, like it matters when it’s been since he took over that he hasn’t adequately addressed the position i don’t believe in the “goalies can be unpredictable thus a GM isn’t required to field competent goaltending” farce narrative
  21. Its a clear case of stats don’t lie. Look no further It’s not even good D. He’s just making some really nice saves. Ya know, playing really well. Which you can actually ask your goalies to do! Goalies can be your best players! They don’t need to just be “not the problem”. Shocking to some I am sure lol
