  1. I may be a lot of things but I’m not a duplicitous dipsh*t
  2. To your point below, this is something I’ve mentioned a lot, many had been acting like we could just wait around for our prospects to develop after our top line arrived last year: it was just never likely to be the case. People were pencilling forward career years without any sort of age drop off years into the future. You have to maximize those things WHILE you have them
  3. It was always risky to bet on “Tage Thompson” to be a true 1C. Jury is out. (Same with Tuch. Skinner was always a ticking time bomb.) Best thing is a 2C is fine by contract. It doesn’t fix the issue, but it allows for it to be fixed with proactiveness Say what you want about Adams, but one thing is we know he’s very proactive and aggressive Right
  4. Funny thing about Granato is ardent defences can be made in his favour to explain away the multitude of issues with the team from being his responsibility (which gets dicey because of the sheer quantity) but what can’t imo be convincingly done is a cohesive argument for how he’s done a GOOD job. The entire argument and defence rests on attempting to explain away the bad. Once we get past “good for development”, he really doesn’t have anything in his favour that we can say he’s adding to the team right now
  5. So they won’t make the same mistake again. Staff stays
  6. Doesn’t get any easier - - - As for today: we are almost cooked, but not quite done. A win today keeps things alive Absolutely. Missing is in no way alleviated because we we accumulated more points in half 2 than half 1. It’s not relevant
  7. Honestly, I’m not as worried about it this time because literally anyone could see we aren’t coming close due to fantastic overall play, it’s because of how low the cut off would be. We’ll be close to 90 points maybe, but thinking and planning for that to be the cut off next year would be a massive mistake never mind configuring a roster to be “potentially” good enough to hit your bare minimum
  8. The moon only wants people who want to be there
  9. “Who even was there? We had to keep the whole coaching staff.”
  10. Congrats you managed to get an X from me and Hank at the same time, platinum achievement its not unqualified advice I’m just quoting a common saying frivolously. It’s not that serious, believe me
  11. “Equally plausible argument”…now we’re talkin’!
  12. WC2 pace is 90 now after another Caps loss We’d have a shot if we go something like 9-2-1
  13. Those who can’t do, teach
  14. certainly I am not and I certainly wouldn’t complain. At this point, I mean I almost never rip the guy but I’m struggling to make an argument for why Granato shouldn’t objectively be fired. How can our standards be that low? Adams, well you know my feelings there, I wouldn’t lose sleep if we canned him now: most franchises would. He’s abjectly failed so far. But this year was his first outright fail on expectations so I’ve said it a lot but I WOULD give him a mulligan for next year even having said, earlier, that I actually don’t think he changes his strategy
  15. They probably will mostly just rely on youth, they may get even younger, but nothing changes the fact this is their chosen setup for *year 5* of this regime. It doesn’t represent an iota of an excuse.
  16. Its infuriating and disappointing but I’ll give this regime one more shot to figure it out for next season
  17. It’s just funny cause we should be LONG dead. We have like 70 points with a couple weeks left and there are still mathematical scenarios lol the 8 range is just so so bad
  18. We can’t just sit around and attempt to age out. We would be trying to make up too much of a gap in an area where only so much can be gained. Other teams have young players too, we are only benefiting development wise by being 0.25 years younger to a very small degree And there’s a draft every year and everyone gets 7 free picks. 31st, 24th, 20th, 25th (our standings placement, last one by points percentage) it doesn’t work, you need to configure an actual team
  19. Good player + Bernier effect = Is he our best player? (-) Bernier effect: still good.
  20. Caps lose. Sabres playoff hopes refuse to die
  21. That’s fair Maybe needs a bit more consistency
  22. “Why aren’t we consistent? The sabres are an enigma.” Not really that complicated. You are consistent when your baseline is higher. We always seem to measure exclusively by what these guys CAN do. What we should be asking is: what is the AVERAGE of what they do? I’m not sure why we don’t focus on that much. Not as provocative a question? Maybe we are so hardwired by this point to focus on potential, because we’ve put results aside so long, that we by nature see the upside in focus We are in the world of expectations now. Of results. Of what you put out there, on average
  23. No, they are better. We are thinking, switch coaches, we are Vancouver and they are the sabres? We finish top 5? I’d say this is a wild take but, I can’t keep up anymore lol
