It’s not gonna happen but it just can’t die because literally no one seems to want a spot. That we are still in it with 75 points with 7 games left is crazy but like.. philly is the WC2 right now. If they play the next 7 at the pace they’ve played the previous 10, they’ll MAYBE get 6 points. 6-0-1 for Buffalo would probably get us in. So no it probably won’t happen but the funny thing is this “stretch” we’ve needed has gotten smaller and smaller over the final games, here. In spite of barely playing well at all. All these other teams have been putrid

Everyone loses
-
Islanders Sabres Penguins Caps Flyers all losing Detroit lost Not exactly fury road
-
Never mind that: the Flyers are losing 2-0 to the Blackhawks it’s astounding the competition is so poor that we actually do still have an out of left field shot at this. That’s not a shot at the sabres, the cutoff might fall into the 80s

But just because you want to take everything in stride doesn’t remove the objective realities of the differences in performance of the teams. The Sabres have been objectively worse, regardless of the fact you’ve been even keel the whole way. The latter is fine and dandy but it doesn’t change the objective truth You are trying to say there is no difference, in the end, if you aren’t the cup winner and I am telling you, you are wrong. Your data always is necessarily anecdotal in this case so why shouldn’t what I say count? Looking back, I lived and died by those playoff runs in 06 and 07. Even the earlier ones where we always seemed to lose in round 2. Growing up is realizing the utter joy in those moments and recognizing, needing a cup to justify it is foolish: it might never happen. But those moments. Man. Id kill for those again. Yes, even just making the playoffs matters. It’s not “all the same” if you don’t win the cup. Missing for 13: we’ve had it worse

Not even a good analogy. Fish will always be fish. The Sabres used to be filet mignon. That we changed into sardines doesn’t mean we need to expect sardines it in fact proves the opposite - - - As for the rest of it: you are making my point. We are talking sports. You cross a line by treating sports talk, online, as necessarily a reflection of someone’s real life mental state thus allusions to seeking therapeutic help are VERY off base. You frequently ignore the root of the point when responding, I’m sorry

Promo thinks all fans want the team to fail, secretly. This informs his stance. He thinks fans are so willing to claim things are bad even when they are not he’s struggling to the observe the difference between fanbases. “Well they all hate their team, too”. People need to be able to accept that what the Sabres have done is *abnormally bad* and the reflective reaction from the fanbase is justifiably an *abnormal* one - - - He literally won’t believe me when I say all I want is playoffs and would be happy with such. He definitely thinks I’ll move the goalposts in spite of never yet moving them once They haven’t even given me the chance to! But why I wouldn’t get the benefit of the doubt when I haven’t changed my argument once is beyond me

I’ve made it my personal mission to go on the record as much as possible. My biggest contention is with the backtracking of the expectation nearly everyone shared this last offseason. I’d be happy to go on the record again: I’ve said it a zillion times: I just want to make the playoffs once. We don’t even need to be as good as they were. Just make it once. The goal is ridiculously low

The “he’s going to hit 30!” argument doesn’t carry much weight when he has like 6 assists and hasn’t hit 50 points. Goals was already his outlier contribution, being decent in that area isn’t enough

Agree. I don’t care what the team acts like if they win, but since they lose it’s probably admittedly more annoying that it’s with a guy who names himself the “beast” after 20 starts, a guy who has a tattoo of himself, players who take their frustrations out on the fans, and the rest of the -ys

At the end of the day only the results matter, but to answer your question, I might consider them less of a joke if they weren’t more obsessed with giving eachother nicknames than actually competing, and I’d wager that would follow your hypothetical so: yes
