Maybe, but upon quick perusal: there wasn’t a single NHL team last year with 2 of those 3 I’d imagine any two of: 50 goal scorer, 20 goal rookie scorer, and two 60 point D men (if power gets 60 Dahlin will) would essentially guarantee not only a spot but a high seeding

Hockey isn’t really about who you play, it’s when you play them. The top teams lose all the time, so I don’t really buy that excuse at all. I do however buy the idea you can’t predict the overall acumen of the team based on 2 games, therefore agree that as far as playoffs goes, the only thing that matters here is the 4 lost points

Sabres actually carried the balance of the play game 1 (somewhat due to score effects) but then got rolled in game 2. Tbh, for me it IS the losses and not how they happened. I’m sort of done with analyzing results beyond: “what were the results?” the team not only doesn’t deserve anything beyond that, it’s proven folly, anyways.
