  1. I dunno if Casey was in the BLB I believe I coined the term but I could be wrong lol ya running a search it’s me referring to the “blinding light” of the youth a hundred times (I must have specifically been quoting Adams) and then you adding “brigade” to it and me and you alternating back and forth using the term for now 3 years haha i suppose Casey counts if it’s been that long
  2. Agree with most of your post, but the “would have made the playoffs with a league avg PP” remains a silly narrative imo that’s taken off and ran for the fences. At least the certainty it’s stated with league avg pp nets us 13 goals over 82 games. We missed the playoffs by a whopping 7 points, and there’s a 4 team separation. i know we need to conveniently fail to grant any of these other teams any improvement, while we grant ourselves a fixed pp for some reason, but even in that case it’s incredibly far from guaranteed merely fixing the PP to average bridges the gap we won half our games. Mathematically speaking half of those 13 goals are going to be spread over games we already won. So 6 or 7 goals? Maybe 3 or 4 present in games we lost by a solitary goal and MAYBE we then win those games in OT or whatever It’s maybe 3 wins. We are out by 7 points. It’s a mineable (and necessary) area for improvement but if we operate as if it’s the only variable we need to fix we won’t make the playoffs, or at least won’t be putting ourselves in a very safe position to do so
  3. And they seemed to go out of their way to defend Granato only once the fans turned on him. Once it was a matter of protecting one of “their own” from the outside. Highlighting and drawing an active divide between the players and the fans. Which, as you point out, seemed to manifest also in aim (players more concerned with Granato fallout, fans with playoffs fallout), and add in the stick salute fiasco for seasoning They are focused on their process while we are sitting at 13 years, it’s sort of the most I’ve ever noticed a divide between the fanbase and the players and it’s pretty troubling. But perhaps recent quotes point to a renewed focus. It’ll need to come from the GM though both in messaging and roster supplementation
  4. UPL. Also call me crazy but I have a *sneaking* suspicion Laurent Brossoit isn’t the 10th best G in the league
  5. Vegas def Dallas Colorado def Winnipeg Nashville def Vancouver Edmonton def Los Angeles Florida def Tampa Bay Toronto def Boston New York def Washington Carolina def New York
  6. You are correct. Good post. The only potential caveat would be those rarer cases where concussion symptoms manifest weeks after the fact: but I think we can reasonably rule this out as surely if he was dealing with the type of emergence I’m referring to he wouldn’t be playing at all actually what’s the timeframe there like several months? It would be that anyways
  7. Really? On my phone it looks normal, I just cut out a bunch So the bold would show without having to click down
  8. It’s not surprising at all. I’ve been preaching for maybe 4 years now that they’ve excelled in messaging Someone they’ve hired is incredibly skilled in this area and it could even be Adams and I’ve been trying to draw people’s attention to it for years. Maybe it doesn’t matter but it’s super interesting because they are extremely skilled
  9. He’s got pressure but it’s his personal career choice for which he is paid incredibly handsomely. And that job happens to be what layman and children do for a game, to pass the time, for fun. The world isn’t demanding he pursue this career path. I of course have sympathy for his mental state, but to the same level I have for everyone, which is a lot, mental health is a very serious issue and I have no problem saying im speaking from experience. no need to belabour this further I just thought the “there’s no way I could have” from your post sort of elevated their troubles and stresses above that of that of the average person - but obviously you were just speaking personally so whatever. But ya, no, I don’t see the “world” “demanding” more of them than the dude who works 60 hours a week at McDonald’s
  10. The first world, sure Come on now
  11. Who gets to talk to the refs again? If we could choose, who would we want to curry more favour with said officials - the dude whos averaged 79 pims a year and THREATENS TO TAKE 100 through punishing physicality? Or the gentle giant who’s averaged 29 pims a year over the last 3? It is *essential* that Dahlin is the one to command more respect with the the officials, if anyone can at all for us He’s going to be on the ice 30 mins a game in the playoffs C goes to Dahlin. You don’t have to like it. Maybe he’s not the captain we deserve - but he’s the one we need right now
  12. On the ice isn’t a factor anymore, on April 18th. These are the days we score press conferences and exit interviews because measuring by what we see on ice didn’t give us the answers we wanted - - - For me personally, this captain stuff is significantly overblown in general. Think of it this way: If Tuch, or anyone, HAS the ability to lead and they WEREN’T doing it already, when the team was *SO* calling out for a leader this year, how can that person be the rightful captain? Wouldn’t a captain have stepped up, letter or not, if they truly had it in their blood? The guy who can pick up Thor’s hammer can do so letter or not. If he needs the letter, he’s no captain at all Leaders lead. Captains are about messaging. Dahlin gives a more consistent effort than any other player. But, more importantly, he’s paid the most. Why the hell give a guy 11 million if he can’t bear extra stitching. My gosh. Make Tuch captain. Give him a long term contract into his 30s. Bring him back like they did KO season after season when in reality they should have moved on, because they have no choice but to “do right” by the captain. When is Tuch’s 1000th game again?
  13. Did you SEE that press conference though?
  14. Do I think Adams can’t be blamed for the fans dissatisfaction for the time this is taking because they’ve only been here for 4 years of it? No. They are *creating a product* for a particular market. What, market research isn’t a thing anymore? Tailoring your product to the consumer isn’t a thing? Why shouldn’t they be aware of the mindset of their consumer at they point of time they elected for a long form build? One doesn’t even need to argue it to be the wrong decision to admit they made their choice of strategy with full knowledge of how the base react to it. It is NOT on the consumer to ignore the context.
  15. The bold puts it in a succinct way for me. I’ve wanted to just chalk it up to being old (and yes that’s a part of it) but the juxtaposition with never winning IS rather annoying lol Of course, people will point to the fact they are kids and detached from the previous losing and their more nonchalant attitude makes sense. Which may be true: but inadvertently or not what that does is significantly reinforce the idea that we fans really ARE in a different business than the players, who for them the crest is temporary. You can’t even blame the players for a lot of it, the whole thing is a bit of a mess. Do I think they have a few egregious missteps this season in betraying that lack of kinship with the fans: almost comically so. Do I think it presents yet another bullet point on the side of what more veteran players would be able to have greater success at? Yes.
  16. I’d wager, even if some aren’t formulating it into those terms, that what’s *really* bothering some is a perceived lack of commitment remember, the context of this particular convo is Adams seemingly agreeing the locker room was entitled/arrogant, whichever term
  17. I mostly agree with you in a causation sense. I think there’s an argument for correlation, though. But that’s purely message board fodder
  18. If you didn’t read this in Palpatine’s voice I have nothing to offer you
  19. Could do an audio group on Twitter to discuss along, could be fun I’ve never done one but I’ve listened to a few
  20. I only see the peak human athletic condition
  21. It’s possible. IMO I personally think it more likely Adams somewhat bought into the hype as well and thought we’d be pretty safely in the playoffs without doing much it’s not even an absurd stance. It’s human. Unfortunately I also feel rightly compelled to evaluate him by the standards of being a highly paid professional who’s job it is to provide a competent product: swing and a miss. Strike one. And you know my stance on Adams:
  22. Well technically I am saying we WERE our record last year and somehow a 20th place league finish (likely because of on over-reliance on sabres-relative comps) developed a connotation far too big for that team’s britches this is a straightforward convo because it’s another glaring instance where “hindsight need not apply”. Adams has his strengths, he certainly has his weaknesses, but perhaps more than any GM I’ve seen his errors are telegraphed. Why would we be surprised a “run it back” strategy that every farmer and their mom said was quite risky blew up in their face? This doesn’t require a deep dive BREAKING: Roster that finished ~20 that didn’t do anything in offseason is ~20th again!
  23. He was the one giving the “we’ll get there, we ARE the youngest team” podcast interview DURING the stretch drive haha
