  1. Depending on their relationship, I'm guessing that they talk all the time. Not always about hockey but he's asking his dad questions. My youngest will be starting his final year at school and is doing an internship at an engineering firm. The questions he may have asked or my advice to him back when he started school was completely different than the adult questions he's asking me now. I'm now dealing with an adult who happens to be my son. Again I assuming they're doing the same thing. Again I'm guessing his dad has way more loyalty to his son than he has to the Leafs organization. I cannot imagine how in the world anyone can legitimately claim any contact between them would be tampering.
  2. This is a very good post, nice job. Vesey is not your typical wide eyed 18 year old coming out of Juniors. He's a man, smart enough to have graduated from Harvard. It is going to take a 2 pronged approach to land him. One from the hockey side with DB, GMTM and Eichel. The other from the Pegula's to talk to him as to his future aspirations and what they can offer him to reach those goals. What I remember reading was his annoyance with someone (I'm guessing from the Predators organization because they drafted him) was a question of did he want to be a hockey player or go to school. I think he is smart enough and now old and mature enough to be making decisions on what he wants and will use his dad and agent as reliable confidants and not decision makers. Giving up a 3rd round pick lets him know how much he's wanted here but my guess is his decision will rest on what is offered outside the rink rather than inside it.
  3. LOL, I was so excited to post this that the oxygen to my brain became blocked
  4. Being reported the Sabres have traded a 3rd for the rights to talk to Vesey.
  5. Being reported that the Sabres have traded 1 of their 3rd rounders for the rights to talk to Vesey.
  6. My disagreement with these statements is that by my eye test, he/they played really well the 2nd half of the season when Bogosian was healthy. To me also, many defensive mistakes are not done by the D but are team mistakes. Having so many young forwards (yes Eichel and Samson included) did not help the Dmen much despite the occasional wow play, and Bogosian in particular and Gorges to an extent get ZERO credit for playing with a partner that is still very young or in McCabe's case was playing in his first year in the NHL. Do these guys not have growing pains and development time still to come without blowing up their partners while doing so??? I do agree with dudacek in that getting rid of any of these guys without upgrading the positions is not very bright. This team still needs to grow because of its youth and why I struggle with signing Stamkos. Not that he wouldn't really help the team but are we at the stage yet that his skill set will help us or hinder us as he gets older. When this team is ready to fly, will he be too old to help lead the way.
  7. It will be interesting to see what his contract looks like but if I'm not mistaken they can also offer him 8 years now instead of 7 also which I'm guessing would be GMTM's breaking point if true. I'd like the guy but not at his age for 8 years.
  8. I'll try and explain my thoughts, you have a GM that appears to like players in bigger packages. You have an asset that is 160 pounds who goes down with injuries that you were expecting to contribute on your top 2 lines. The last I heard the possibility exists that he doesn't come back from the concussion and/or he may or may not be the player he was. With that in mind, you go into the draft where players 4-12 are pretty close in ability, do you draft a 155-160 pound guy or do you go after someone with at least a little more girth so to speak??? I don't think GMTM is going to draft Keller, no way no how IMHO. Heck I think he'll draft the Russian before he drafts Keller. :w00t: And as a side note, I liked Ennis, I truly hope he comes back strong and has his health back and at the very least his long term prognosis is a good one.
  9. Wasn't he having seizure issues after the concussion he incurred?? Never seen the ice afterward
  10. I just don't think the Sabres are going to draft this guy. After the Ennis issues, I think size will not be the #1 item but they won't take another small player that high. Speaking of Ennis has anyone heard how he is doing??? If he's on the comeback trail or not?? I would think their draft, trade possibilities and free agent plans are dependent on his status as well.
  11. You're not going to get E.Karlsson stats out of that guy but you will get a young, elite skater with speed and hockey IQ. Upgrade on Gorges in my opinion but still very young, I think he'll turn 23 by next year. I hate to give up on Z after one down year but that's a fair hockey trade in my opinion if the Wild add a little to the pie. You have Pysyk and Brodin on the 3rd pair, Bogosian and an improving McCabe on the 2nd pairing and that's 5/6ths of a very young and good D again in my opinion. Speaking of McCabe, everything I've read about him at the IIHF tournament has been very positive.
  12. Keller, great call/S
  13. Agreed but typically it is something that at this level has to be developed as a youngster or in the AHL. Otherwise you just have to be patient with someone who's natural skill set is of the other side. It is the same in baseball and soccer, there are subtle differences on how things are perceived when you are playing the opposite field and or foot, especially at the speed the pros play at. The most interesting items to me of this board is some of the info you and others post, such as this. Your work is appreciated because I do realize it is time consuming. +1
  14. A word to the wise...... Do not socialize with your employers..... Do not socialize with your employees, neither is a good mix. Do so in work functions only. Keep work relations at work. I have also found that in most situations, making friends with co-workers is not a good idea either. Being friendly and being friends are 2 entirely different things. Typically they don't mix and match.
  15. Thanks for the info BRAWNDO, nice job
  16. I do understand that but besides Eichel no-one else is going to command that type of money on this team that you couldn't work this system to keep the best available talent happy
  17. I'm trying to wrap my head around the fact that there are anti-Stamkos posters. No playoffs for several years and not even sniffing them lately by this team. Stamkos at worst is a top 10 center..... Lets see, that makes him top line C for over 2/3 of the teams in the league including this one Stamkos scored 36 goals in a down year.... that was tied for 8th in the league and tied for 2nd for Centers Stamkos scored 8 GW goals..... tied for 4th in the league He's been the leader of the team that has been to the EC Finals 2 years in a row and he's only 26... with a 7 year contract he'll be 33 And we don't want this guy?????? He'll hurt ROR's feelings or something??? As for his TBay line mates.... Palat and Callahan, they combined for 64 points, not exactly great scorers, either of them, so was he carrying them or were they carrying him??? You have nfreeman's lines or you have Stamkos-Eichel-ROR as the Centers for your 3 lines in whatever order DB prefers, a no lose scenario IMO
  18. Re-looking at your app picture, being an old guy these apps are incredible to me in how they track things. Mine tracks my history, my daily routes, times, mileage, gives me an audio update at preset times or distance. Also a breakdown on each mile run. Just awesome stuff, to me anyway and I find it is motivation to continue and try and compete not with anyone else by myself.
  19. What is that thing 2 inches below your lips???? Is that "A" chin as opposed to "multiple" chins??? :w00t: :w00t: :w00t: Nice job hitting 40lbs. That is a milestone!!!!!!!!!! So you only hit 801.9 and not 802???? No exaggerations in this forum Robin. Seriously that is awesome and reading what you biked thru to get to that milestone, you definitely wanted it :worthy: :worthy: :worthy: :worthy: For those not down in Texas, flash floods are serious business right now down here. On a personal note I hit 129 miles for the month of May and because the retention pond/lake I run around flooded, I hit 10K on Saturday and Sunday. Had to re-route in a couple of areas so I could try and keep up an approximate mileage for the day. When I got home, it said that was my longest run and on Sunday my fastest 10K time. Not knowing what the heck 10K was, I internetted it and found out it was 6.21 miles. Which coincided with it also being my fastest 1K, 5K and 1 mile times. I was pretty pumped at that. So I do know how you feel hitting the 800 mark, congratulations again.
  20. It's an energy boost, not doubt. What I noticed the last time I did something similar and now is the addictive nature of working out. The more you do, the more you need it. Only downfall is the new clothing bills.
  21. That is one awesome bike. I hit the 100 mile mark again this month in my power walking/running routine. Also hit the 38 pound loss mark as of yesterday. I'm now up to 470 miles since Christmas, new goal is to hit 1000 by Thanksgiving. Having to change we weekday hours though from the afternoon to night.
  22. First pairing Ramsey-Housley Second pairing Hajt-Zhitnik Third pairing Schoenfeld-Korab
  23. No I guess I've been in management too long and if you would please shhhhh and refrain from using the word Union when replying to me. I am in Texas after all. From what I've heard your smelly poop is no joke
  24. No don't fire him, a final written warning will do with the prerequisite weekly reviews to see if he's progressing properly. Maybe a required inservice on how to rid himself of bunkers and other such hazards.
