  1. It's a typical young team with less talented vets whose overall play is inconsistent. One day they look great the next game they can't complete a simple pass or connect on a slap shot like last night. No telling what you're going to get with this team from day to day but I don't think it has anything to do with lack of effort, it's the talent level. Next year will be better but until the young guys understand their roles and style of play it'll be an up and down year again next season. Granato's job is to play the young guys to give them experience and on the job training, it isn't that tanking is a priority it's just that these guys aren't ready yet to make that step to winning on a consistent basis.
  2. I've been to Dallas (5X), Nashville, Miami and Tampa Bay. Dallas was by far the easiest to get tickets for and it has become a pretty good hockey town. Nashville was awesome, the city, the clubs and the auditorium but getting tickets was horrendously bad. The times I was in Florida the crowd was sparse and there appeared to be as many Sabres fans as the locals could muster although from TV coverage it appears that's changed with the teams fortune lately.
  3. I fully agree with the bolded portion but we also have 3 other picks in the top 40 of this years draft, RDs are available later than that top 5-6 picks plus with Dahlin and Power on the left do we really have a need for another top pick Dman over a same tier forward at that spot??
  4. If he finds his scoring touch again do you really want to get rid of him, he's not going to fetch as much as Toffoli and I don't think Montreal made out in that deal.
  5. He'd almost have to go to the AHL, you already have Skinner/Krebs/Asplund/Girgensons/Peterka/Murray/Bjork/Biro under contract at LW already. Miller plus Ritchie's contract may or may not entice the Leafs to give us a 1st though.
  6. I tell you a big kid with what appears to be an elite shot, he certainly didn't hurt his draft ratings the past week or so.
  7. You are much more knowledgeable than I on the draft but Ramsay not playing this kid in the Olympics doesn't give you a little bit of buyer beware to pick him so high?? I think I'd rather pick a C or forward with that pick than a Dman especially since unless everyone hits with our young upcoming guys and core we still need some help up front.
  8. Well you have Chara and Greene both on the left side and ready to be retired, I'm guessing that trading one of our young LDs or/plus a draft pick gets the deal done. With the Islanders about to miss the playoffs the time may be ripe for them to start getting younger. They have Pulock and Dobson on the right side so he's not a key piece for them there. It also gives us a vet to help mentor Samuelsson and Power.
  9. I’ve said this before but Mayfield with the Islanders is the RD to go after in the offseason
  10. My observations on the game: Dahlin played one of his best all around games, defensively and with the puck and is currently 3rd on the team in hits & blocked shots The Skinner-Thompson-Tuch line is unquestionably our #1 line I thought Krebs played well as the C for Olofsson & Asplund and they also played well together If Krebs continues to play well at C does Cozens move over to RW to play with Mitts?? Quinn on LW when he gets back I liked it that both Tuch and Dahlin blamed themselves and their teammates after the game for the loss, leadership in the making I don't blame KA for the GK situation we're in but he needs to address it in the offseason. This loss was on Tokarski I was entertained at the style of play showed in this game
  11. See Mitts and Quinn get healthy and get 30+ games from Mitts and 25+ from Quinn See continued progress from Samuelsson and see Joker become more consistent See Dahlin, Krebs and Cozens take another step up in progress See Girgs and Okposo stay healthy to give the young guys someone to depend on See Skinner and Tuch continue to play well together with either Thompson or Cozens See UPL stay healthy to see if he'll be 1 of the GKs next year See VO return to form and Asplund make a play for a bottom 6 role next year See a better team defensive structure going forward See Power at the end of the year to see what's in store from him and Johnson as well
  12. No that’s a dbi (dupa body injury)
  13. Hormone treatments needed?? We're back in it
  14. Don't be so hormonal, a lot of time left
  15. And a poor man's Will Butcher.
  16. I think they'll be a vastly improved team next year but picking playoffs is a giant step with that very formidable top 8 teams in the east to pass up to get there. A couple or more of those teams are going to have to show their ages finally for us to get in and Detroit is on the rise as well. As for 4 years of KA, Pegula is going to have to show some patience and allow this rebuild to start that downhill momentum before you make a change unless it just totally blows up. KA gets at least 2 more years IMO. So far I think he'll deserve it.
  17. He must have had a tremendous gift of BS because he appeared to have most players (Eichel-Hall-Risto) bamboozled by it though.
  18. Talk about pulling stuff out your @ss. Can you imagine 2 more divergent views with one appearing to be dead on the money and the other dead wrong. Hooboy great look back posts.
  19. Murray is a 6'5 240lb p*ssy. He should be a 3rd/4th line hit machine and he'll never be that. Looks like Tarzan plays like Jane.
  20. They don't need kids on the right side. They need to get a couple of vets who are more in the mold of big, stay at home guys. I'd go after Scott Mayfield of the Islanders and maybe overpay for Chiarot when he becomes an UFA this summer. You need defensive mentors for Dahlin, Samuelsson and Power. Add a GK and you have a much improved team defensively. It would allow your LHDs who are all puck movers to be able to have the freedom to play their games. If you want to groom young RHDs, use this draft to stock up and go from there.
  21. There's a lot more JBotts in this league than your giving teams credit for.
  22. Skinner-Thompson-Tuch Olofsson-Mitts-Quinn Krebs-Cozens-Okposo Girgs-Jankowski-Asplund Until Power joins the D group plus I think they have to get a veteran RHD that plays a Samuelsson type game, there's no telling how this group will shake out. Plus 1 of those LHD's is going to have to move to the right side if they want to get any significant playing time with the club moving forward.
  23. I'm not sure what he'll turn out to be going forward but at the moment he fills several holes in this lineup. RW, Power Forward, PP, PK, good team mate and vet presence plus he's fast, has a good shot, goes to the dirty areas and is good on the boards, my guess is he'll definitely do for now. Krebs still has a ways to go but first impressions are he'll turn out to be a pretty good NHL forward with time. He seems to see the game very well which bodes well for his future as well.
  24. Yes I agree but it's still nice to see the young guys making progress, confidence is a hell of a drug. Philly's D was horrible, watching Risto today, I thought he was blamed for too much while here but wow everything people hated him for was clear as day today. It's not his play but he's a second behind seeing the plays in front of him develop. Except for his goal the Sabres forwards abused him today. He was late reacting to things all day. That trade we win just by subtraction and if Rosen turns into anything WOW what a gift.
  25. In case you need some assistance...
