Thompson was getting chances last season and not burying them but everyone used “he was playing injured” to excuse why he couldn’t hit the broadside of a barn. He’s picked up exactly where he left off last season. What’s going to be the excuse this season?

I don’t care. It’s still an excuse. They want to keep that status for as long as possible to keep fans expectations fairly low and save as much money possible. I call BS. He used the Sabres as fodder for his bid to buy the Bills. The Sabres are nothing more than a money pit to him now. He slashed the payroll, hired the only GM that would follow an internal cap, and the rest his history.

Exactly! I really don’t know why anyone thought that the extraordinary 22/23 season was going to be the norm. Fans thought the Sabres hit the jackpot with all these great players hitting their strides at the same exact time. What the saying… If it’s too good to be true then it probably is. Most (if not all) of the players Adams signed long term are not going to end up being great. *****, Adams signed Samuelsson to a big long contract with absolutely nothing to show for it. Hell he hasn’t played a full Fing season yet! This organization is a joke.

Was it a flash in the pan or was it an anomaly that can’t be recreated? I don’t know if these players are nearly as good as they showed in that season. They all went from way over preforming to way under performing the next season.

Same ole Sabres. I don’t care if they have a new coach. Very little has change. I’m sure people will disagree but this team lacks talent, especially elite talent. That walked out the door a few years ago because they knew this team wasn’t going anywhere. I thought Thompson would be better than this. I also didn’t think he was an elite talent like people thought from a few seasons ago. I knew he went way above his potential that season but I think he used it all up that season. The guy can’t hit the broadside of a barn. The Sabres have no talent and bills lost most of their talent. Back to having dark days for Buffalo sports fans

I whole heartedly agree that 13 seconds was the make or break moment. I feel the Diggs drama at the beginning of last season was him seeing the train wreck coming and wanting out. He did not put in the effort at all last season on purpose.
