  1. Which is why it pisses me off and part of why nothing happens in the end. Everyone does this, self-medicates and moves on. I'm tired of doing that. It's not about making you feel better. It's about fixing the problem. When you feel better, but haven't done anything, your motivation to actually see it through is gone. and it isn't what you CAN do. It's what you CHOOSE to do. It's also the incredibly easy thing.
  2. You can support politicians that have the power to make change. You can demand that change of them. Call all of your elected officials tomorrow and demand to know what they are going to do to address the incredible mental health problem and it's accompanying mental health service problem. What are they DOING to make out-patient services more accessible? What are they DOING to increase in-patient mental health beds in your community? What are they DOING to make it easier for a person who is exhibiting serious warning signs to be committed in-voluntarily? What are they DOING to enable schools to secure themselves? You can demand to know what actions they are going to take to curtail hate and gun violence. Then you can call them all back every single week asking for follow up. You can convince others to do likewise so that this problem gets addressed in a meaningful way. The one thing politicians are motivated by is re-election and if they all, on both sides of the aisle, are getting pressure from large portions of their constituents to do something about this issue then they will do it. Right now we give the problem lip service and so do they. Forcing a system to make change takes more than slogans, tshirts, and flying the flag at half mast. And you're right, you as an individual don't have that much clout. I'll betcha if I had 5 billion dollars I'd have some more clout. Who do I know that has 5 billion dollars....hmmmmm.... What if, rather than arguing about tax policy and using their money to support people who promise to keep them as rich as possible, the uber wealthy supported people who actually wanted to fix actual problems like innocent people getting massacred on a weekly basis?> How about if Elon Musk stopped whining about Twitter and starting talking about this issue and he and Bezos put some of their money behind fixing mental health instead of flying themselves to space we'd be closer to a solution? Do you think if wealthy or powerful people were getting shot up at this rate that there wouldn't be some quick action? How about if 15 police officers were killed on the same day in any city. Think something might happen pretty quick? I'm not advocating for that. I'm merely pointing out that this is WHY nothing happens. The people who make decisions are able to insulate themselves from this issue so it doesn't matter to them personally. Since it doesn't matter to them personally
  3. @Sabres Fan in NSThis is why I'm critical of the meaningless shows of support. Call it the "thoughts and prayers" movement. It does nothing. 14 more elementary school kids plus their teacher died in Texas today to another 18 year old with a problem that had nothing to do with them. Tshirts and meaningless gestures do nothing. Nothing. Take actions to create immediate real change or sit down.
  4. It's a way to say look at me I pretend to care but Im not going to really do much of anything of meaning. And net proceeds is different from proceeds. It's net proceeds. If you want to donate money, donate the full cost of the shirt directly, cut out the middle man, and forgot the LAMP moment of wearing your memento of this moment. The Pegulas care. They don't care enough to decide not to siphon 800M dollars out of the community, but they care. They care enough to donate their margin on a t-shirt.
  5. Choad on choad crime
  6. And that sentence is more entertaining and interesting than anything Dan Dunleavy has ever thought of.
  7. I think he might cry. I bathe in his tears.
  8. This is a mistake IMO. Great as Vasilevsky is I don't think they can hold them out for a whole period of this and the Loafs will pull Campbell soon to add to it.
  9. That would be an interesting logo and third jersey
  10. I'd pay to watch Wayne drink Bissonette's punk ass under the table.
  11. I know it's not the same, but in the NCAA that would be an instant 5 minute major and a game misconduct. NHL, we debate about it.
  12. Oshie switched to it after his father, who was from WV, passed.
  13. I find it interesting that Zibanejad wears a letter and Kreider does not. I'd also like to see how much longer the verbal from Kreider went on after that.
  14. You pay, you get.
  15. I had to mute it.
  16. I agree, he probably won't. Re: Hart it's just a feeling I have.
  17. Maybe not a public domain song
  18. Don't you already have paint to watch dry out there?
  19. When you hire an idiot, expect an idiot to show up to work.
  20. And Campbell looked totally out of his depth last time out. Which team is more likely to keep the other to 3 or less. I say Tampa. If I had to put the money on the table right now Tampa +105 and over 6.5 at -165 look like the plays.
  21. Good luck painting racing stripes on those Clydesdales
  22. When people talk about weaponizing cap space this is what they mean. If Florida is making this move they are paying us to take the contract. 4x10 isn't ideal, no. But his actual cash number drops the last two years of the deal and the NTC changes as well making him more attractive to a cap floor team those last two years if you want to move him again. In theory, you'd also have Levi in net by then on his ELC which is dirt cheap so you'd have 2 goalies for an AAV of what? 11 million? Maybe it's still not the right move for us which is fine, I just see a move to be made there by someone and if you don't demand salary retention you're likely to get more than Bob back. The bigger trick would be getting Bob to agree to come to Buffalo with his full NMC. I'm not excited about Husso or Comrie as I think you'll have to overpay in both years and dollars based on their actual resumes. I think the RFAs are pipe dreams unless it's a trade because nobody sheets anyone and what are you really willing to give up for Georgiev? I don't see the logic in paying a soon to be 38 year old MAF a bunch of money on a multi-year deal. Keumper is going to want money and term both and is already 32 with a long injury history. Halak isn't coming here. Martin Jones isn't an upgrade. What are you willing to pay Brayden Holtby? He's a backup at this point. A good backup, but still a backup. DeSmith? Francouz?? IMO, the Sabres need a player who can step in and play competent #1 GK for at least 2 seasons if not 3. Levi is in college this year and will probably get at least 1 year in Rochester before he comes to Buffalo. The 3rd year gives you some buffer if Levi is slower to develop than we'd want. MAF isn't going to give you 3. I'm not sure he's going to even give you 2. If it were me I'd be calling the Flyers on Hart. Philly has a long and illustrious history of giving up on goalies too soon and Hart struggled a lot this year. They were absolutely putrid this year and I don't honestly think it would cost that much to get Hart out of there. I might be wrong, but I think the bloom is off that rose. Offer the rights to Ryan Johnson or Erik Portillo and a 2nd and see what happens.
