They need two NHL defensemen. They can be 4-6 types but they need to be reliable guys. I'll take late 20s with at least one more year of term after this one but I'm not taking a boat anchor. If they want to swap a forward prospect for a d prospect I'm also good with that. Krebs for example. If someone likes him for a similar tier defensive prospect I'm in. I don't think Mittelstadt brings much back so you only move him to make room for someone or to dump a contract

It's a referendum on UPLs future with the club. He either grabs the job right now or it's never going to be his.

Why doesn't anyone in the Sabres organization show any outward urgency to get better or pretend to win? Defensemen go down by the bushel, no help is brought in, a goalie goes down he is replaced with a worse goalie who is already in the pipeline. 3 college prospects who could ALL help the team and all still in school. What year is it going to be ok to ask the team to give half a crap about winning games?

I have a thought about secondary market ticket prices staying where they are despite the losing. There are only 8k sth. I assume that includes full and halves. Since the Sabres don't seem to be keen on cutting deals to sell tickets that makes the secondary market the only place to get something at below sticker price. With that few STH there will be relatively few secondary tickets available for any particular game. Since I also imagine STH have mostly good seats, those will get bought by fans of the opposition a lot of the time who generally are more willing to pay a higher price in general which supports a higher price floor than you'd expect for a team as bad as this one. If there were more STH the secondary prices would be lower. Am I wrong?

When my subsidized trip to WNY got cancelled I considered coming up on my own dime over Christmas break to catch the Red Wings game. I'm no longer considering that. I know I'm one guy who lives 300+ miles away but I can't be the only person making future decisions like that right now.

It's a simple answer. It's situational. Center ice draws don't matter, draws late in games in the zone do. Draws on special teams in the zone do.

I've been told many times that faceoffs are not important.
