  1. So I sit with some form of Sabres apparel on, with outward expressions of wanting them to win, but secretly, and with quiet humility hoping for a better pick in the draft . I can do this for a couple hours, I'm practiced at such things. I get dressed for the occasion, sit quietly and only say nice things, while thinking much different thoughts, we call it diner at the inlaws!
  2. I'm going Saturday, so I would like to know your position on proper, at the game, tank etiquette. My three personas at home seem to be 1.)Wear Sabres gear and cheer when the other team scores. 2.) Sit quietly devoid of all emotion like your another teams scout. 3.) Go full on tank and cheer the complete lunacy of it all. #3 usually involves more alcohol than 1 and 2. [quo te][/quote ]
  3. I'm starting to understand now....I was under the assumption that in order to get into 716 or Tim Hortons you had to use your game day ticket and go into HSBC, and once in , there was no going out and back in again. Sorry I was so confused. We try to make one game a year, and last year our game was Ted Nolan's first game back, none of this existed. Plus it was a weekday game, get out of work, go straight to seats, game over go straight home. Last year we noticed some new bars and restaurants out side of HSBC, but wanted to get home. Mainly because we worked the next day, but also because the Sabres played the Leafs. The bars were filled with disgusted Leaf fans after losing to the last place Sabres and they were as unpleasant as ever. This year it's all about the "experience" and taking our time to enjoy all that is new (well to us anyway).
  4. I'm not so sure now....There is hopping, skipping, jumping, country miles, bridges and standing in the cold for long periods, all to get a beer? You guys and gals are still talking Buffalo, NY right? Because that sounds way to Canadian.... the bridge mentioned isn't the Peace Bridge is it? New to the forum, where's the little round yellow smiley dude that looks like sarcasm?
  5. Thanks for the heads up! But if at all possible, and it looks like the weather will cooperate, I would like a "sentimental" skate. I'll be but one, of a few I'm sure, of the old guys skating around the rink in a whole different world. A world circa late 70's. Trying to picture the Aud, remembering being bundled up in cotton and wool clothing playing hockey and skating on one of the many frozen ponds or back yard rinks that where around back then. If I skate up a good sweat, poor some beer on me a lay on the ice for a bit I may even be able to recreate that Aud smell.... Thanks to the rest of you that let me know my wife has a few options available, and I can assure her from a very reputable source that she will be able to stay warm while I go for a skate. My bet is she takes a few pictures, checks out the heated tent, then straight to the bar. I think I look forward to the skate, drinks/food at one of the new or old bars (that will be a spontaneous decision), as much if not more than the game.
  6. Heading up this weekend to watch the Sabres play the Flyers. Getting to Buffalo early just so I can skate at Canal Side. Is there someplace my wife can watch that is at least out of the elements? She is a gamer, but standing out side watching me skate will get old quick.
  7. As a die hard follower of the Carrion League I would like to remind some, and inform others, that the Erie Otters are on the NHL Channel tonight. Get to see why I am pro tank, and that McDavid is not just hype. If I am not mistaken the last Erie Otter that went on to pull the Blue and Gold sweater over their head was Tim Connelly, which is why I wish for the putrid stench of Carrion League success, to get the likes of McDavid. Born and raised in Buffalo, I'm now in Erie, if you have doubts as to why the Shart is a must, please come down and watch him in person. In the Shart you will trust....
