I was thinking the same thing, but then I remembered that the Amerks still have a couple of games left. I'm betting they clean house in Rochester at the end of their season, too. Then people can give more reasons about how GMTM is a mean man for firing them.

44. Tim Murray used Ted Nolan by giving a coach he didn't hire a three year contract and then firing him a year later after two last place finishes with historically bad Corsi numbers 45. Tim Murray only cared about draft position 46. Tim Murray inspired the use of the phrase "Zero F###s Given" which is starting to annoy some people I'll add more as I come across other stupid reasons people are supposed to love Ted Nolan and hate Tim Murray.

The Perfect Storm of Incompetence and the Coming Fan Revolt

No,it isn't. It's repetitive and annoying and irrational and obsessive and kind of creepy. -
Yup. Amen. :worthy:

Free Agents this summer, who should Sabres pursue and why.
MBHockey13 replied to North Buffalo's topic in The Aud Club
I'd say give Lindback a shot, but sign someone else as well. Who knows about Chad Johnson. He was decent as a backup in Boston, and horrible for the Isles this year. I guess play him in camp, and then send either Lindback or Johnson down, or trade him for pucks if anyone wants him. I'm not sure I even want him taking a spot in Rochester. Then again, he might surprise in camp and pre-season and win the starting job. Who knows?- 164 replies

I think Minnesota might try to keep Stewart. My friend who's from there says they are all thrilled with him and what he's done since they got him. He seems happy there, too.- 164 replies

That's the point. I don't understand why people hate Tim Murray and claim to not want to be a Sabres fan until he's fired. And a lot of the arguments do contradict each other. I agree with every point you made. :)

Free Agents this summer, who should Sabres pursue and why.
MBHockey13 replied to North Buffalo's topic in The Aud Club
I think Ottawa signs him to a pretty reasonable starting goalie deal for two years. Nothing that will break the bank, but will give him starter money on a shorter term, and allow them to work on an extension in a year if he proves to be the real deal. That's not to say some team doesn't try to overpay him for basically two months of stellar work. Then again, if he still goes lights out in the playoffs and Ottawa wins a couple of rounds or better, they might have to sign him for longer. I don't see them letting him leave after that.- 164 replies

Anything was better than Rolston. I'm sorry Teddy had a bad time of it, and I was more than thrilled when he came back. I also don't think he's the right coach going forward. But Rolston was a emotionless nothing. Good or bad, Teddy at least gave us a thrill in the last month or so - him VS the Tank. Rolston would have just stunk.

What if Terry Pegula never showed up in Buffalo?
MBHockey13 replied to MBHockey13's topic in The Aud Club
I probably agree with that as well, but that was the fear, wasn't it? They may be still trying to work out the ownership right now. I think it got done as quickly as it did because Pegula basically said "How much? Let's just do this now." Plus, he had the cash. The Jacobs/Rich group would still have to work out the financing. -
We definitely have had a lot of changes in the last few years with the Sabres and now the Bills, and much of it is due to Terry Pegula coming in and becoming one of the greatest Buffalonians of all time! I know some people aren't on board with Terry, and I'll never understand why. Luckily, they are very few and far between. Even those who don't seem to like the changes since Terry came to town have to admit it hasn't been boring around the Sabres since he arrived. I'm trying to think about how the Sabres would be if Golisano was still the owner. Here is just a short list of things, good and bad, that I think may have or may not have happened: 1. Darcy Regier is still GM of the Sabres 2. Larry Quinn is still involved with the team 3. Lindy Ruff may or may not still be coach 4. The Sabres would have never tried a full rebuild and kept patching what they had 5. They would have desperately tried to keep Ryan Miller and he would have left anyway, with no return 6. The same probably would have been true for Vanek, Pominville, and any other free agents with any value 7. Our farm team would still be in Portland or elsewhere. It would have NOT been in Rochester. Rochester may have had continuing ownership problems to the point there was talk about one of the West Coast NHL teams buying the franchise and moving them West. I doubt that would have happened. But the Sabres do NOT buy the Amerks, and both the Amerks and the Sabres are worst for it. 8. The HarborCenter is never built. Carl Paladino buys the land from the City of Buffalo and puts some mixed development right next to the FNC. 9. Ville Leino and Christian Ehrhoff are never signed. The Sabres never wade into the upper-tiers of free agency, and keep trying to keep their own pieces and always "build through the draft". However, they never get anything for their own players once they are in their last seasons, so they don't build up any extra draft picks. 10. The Sabres continue to finish between 7 - 10 in the conference. The manage to squeak in the playoffs in Ryan Miller's last season but then go out in five in the first round. 11. Right now Sabres fans are panicking that we may not be able to resign Jonas Enroth as our number one goalie despite not having a good season because we have no strong candidates in Portland or wherever, and Enroth's backup Michael Leighton was not reliable in his few starts, which made Lindy play Enroth the last 25 games of the season in a desperate drive for 8th. They finish 10th. 12. Because the Sabres did not trade upcoming free agents for draft picks, they do not have Girgensons or Zadorov. We are excited about Joel Armia, but Grigorenko may be considering going to the KHL despite the falling ruble. 2014's first round draft pick Nick Schmaltz does not appear ready to make the NHL next season. 13. The Buffalo Bills are now owned by the Rogers group out of Toronto, led by Jon Bon Jovi. They have been talking about the immediate need for a new stadium to be built in Buffalo in the next three years, or they will move the team in 2020. They finished 7-9 last season, lose Jerry Hughes, sign no impact free agents, and end up hiring Norv Turner as the new head coach. 14, Next year the most we can hope for as Buffalo fans is that the Sabres MAYBE reach 8th place and the Bills MAYBE get to 8-8 - but we withhold our affections because we fear the inevitable move to Toronto in 2020.

I love how unfiltered GMTM is when he speaks. You can tell he does try to pause and think before saying something - and then goes ahead and says it anyway! I think last year's "got our pee-pee slapped" comment was enough to endear me to him forever!

I wonder how Nolan being fired changes our lineup next year. Not that Nolan was making any personnel decisions, but I really believe he mishandled Hodgson and he still has second or third line value. He was our leading scorer in 2013-14, and he's still young and still a hard worker in the off-season. Plus, I'm sure he'll have a fresh attitude with Nolan gone.
-
It's DEFINITELY not going to be Chadd Cassidy. I think Murray should clean house in Rochester too. Like hoping for McDavid but settling for Eichel, I'm hoping for Babcock but I can't really say who with I'd be satisfied. I know who I don't want more than who I do want.
-
That's probably better than any of the ones I came up with. :worthy:

OK - for the record, I still LOVE GMTM. I think he's made some smart decisions, I love his press conferences and his attitude, I love what he did at the mike at the draft last year, and I think he truly has us moving in the right direction. I truly believe he's going to bring in the right coach, and he has some tricks up his sleeve similar to how he made the Myers and Stafford etc. for Bogo and Kane etc. trade. At the time, I was upset about Myers and Lemieux, and also losing that third 1st, but now I get it. With the draft picks and prospect pool we have, plus some of the great young players already on the Sabres, I couldn't be more excited. However, after the Nolan firing, I'm seeing more Murray hate than I've ever expected. One female friend of mine claims she has hated him since he only said "The Buffalo Sabres Select Sam Reinhart" at the draft. One guy has threatened to leave as a fan until Nolan is fired, and another keeps saying he's becoming a Panthers fan (though I think he's crying wolf again). There are a lot more like them. I don't get it. Murray has been here just over a year. The Tank was in full swing when he got here. He inherited most of this mess. He's made some moves, but it's insane to think if they had brought in another GM last year, we'd be close to popping the corks on a Stanley Cup. So, I've struggled to come up with a list of all the ways people hate Tim Murray and blame him for this mess. Why would anyone want him fired already? Anyway, here is what I have come up with so far. Again, this is NOT my list, because I like Tim Murray. 1. He fired Ted Nolan after giving him a bad team 2. He gave Ted Nolan a three year contract even though he didn't hire him 3, Pat LaFontaine left 4. He didn't draft Sam Bennett/Leon Draisaitl/Other 5. He got us #30 last year 6. He got us #30 this year 7. He almost didn't get us #30 this year 8. He didn't fire Ted Nolan earlier 9. He didn't made a nice polite long winded introduction at last year's draft 10. Pegula hired him 11. He's too direct 12. He's too evasive 13. He traded away Ryan Miller 14. He traded away Steve Ott 15. He traded away Tyler Myers 16. He brought in Evander Kane and paid too much 17. He brought in Mez and Benoit 18. He didn't get enough for (fill in blank) 19. He didn't bring in enough quality free agents in the off-season to try to maybe improve more than 41 points and possibly get that last playoff spot 20. He lied about not wanting 30th 21. He didn't get along with Ted Nolan and we know that can't be Nolan's fault 22. He looks nerdy with those glasses 23. He kept trading away awesome goalies instead of trying to resign them 24. He didn't make the Amerks competitive enough 25. He's not Darcy 26. He said weird things about liking McDavid too much and he spent too much time scouting Erie 27. I don't like that he drafted (blank) in the (blank) round instead of (blank) 28. He didn't call up (blank) instead of (blank) I can't think of anymore. Did I miss one?

You'll be missed. HA HA HA

I already have friends who are huge Boston fans and BU grads who are crying about that poor Boston sports luck. Really? REALLY? Even BU won it all in 2009, and throw in the Bruins, Red Sox, Pats, Celtics...ugh.

Casey Bailey, Matt O'connor. Any other college free agents?
MBHockey13 replied to tom webster's topic in The Aud Club
Hammond (the Hammburglar) was horrible in the AHL this year, and then comes up and saves the Senators season. Dubnyk was done as an NHL'er at the end of last year, and he comes in and single-handedly puts the Wild in the playoffs. Lindback is the worst goalie in the NHL, then comes here and almost blows the Tank. Who knows. -

Maybe he can come back and win it for them next year. -
