The likelihood of a trade involving the Sabres pick is close to the three percent chance the team had to get Celebrini. It is fun to think about the possibilities and I hope KA does his job and listens to offers and initiates some of his own. They have been drafting better in the last few years, imo. As others have said, the drafting of 18 year olds is a crapshoot and it gets tougher to find NHL talent the deeper you go. Is Lindstrom the next Tocchet or PL Dubois? Parekh could be Makar or DeAngelo. Iginla could be the second coming or Dillon Dube. Trading #11 for an established player would make a statement on multiple levels. It would certainly get my attention.

I’m cheering for Florida in this one so that beating of the Bruins was nice to see. I would love Tkachuk on the Sabres because he plays hard and gets under the other team’s skin. I find that his toughness is overrated. He is not Brady, who will drop the gloves against nearly anyone. He rarely will engage in more than a face washing duel and dropping the mitts vs Pastrnak is about right for him. 6’2” 206 but he doesn’t challenge any middle weights. He is more skilled than Brady but I would prefer Brady because he’s got your back. If it’s all about face washing, wrestling and chirping then Matthew fills the bill. Anyone like Dakota Joshua’s game last night? 27 year old UFA.

But that would block Savoie, Östlund and Kulich.

Almost looked like Marchand had no comeback.

Noah Östlund was the 1st round pick. The second round pick was used in the deal to get Greenway.

Matthews on the Sabres could push me over the edge and hand in my fan card.

Montour celebrating in Marchand’s face and the ensuing scuffle was fun to watch. I hate Montour’s smug little smile but it’s OK if it gets under Marchand’s skin.

Goalies are weird so he could regress and flame out. I don’t think that will be the case here. He is still on an upward trajectory imo but he may get passed by Levi, which makes that a lot of $ for a backup.

Winning two Cups with two different teams brings something too.

Expansion partner Vancouver had a great season by changing coaches. Maybe the Sabres follow suit. A few personnel tweaks wouldn’t hurt either.

I was surprised by the penalties in OT. Sabres killer Aho wasn’t asserting himself on the PP. Shesterkin is what Levi can still become.

4 straight goals after falling behind 3-0. I am pulling for them, not because of Mitts, MacKinnon is my favourite non Sabres player. The way he gallops around like a fire hydrant on skates just gets me out of my seat. Nichushkin is a beast. He has become what his draft potential claimed he could be. It’s been quiet on the Landeskog front, there was a chance he could come back. Drouin would help a bit too.

He has that in him.

It would be crazy if the Sabres had enough talent to make the playoffs without one of their top guys. Stone may have a bad enough back to do this for a few years before retiring. A guy like Mike Bossy could have lasted a few more years in this era.

Yakemchuk is an area of need (RHD) that may line up as #11. I doubt Lindstrom falls that far but he’s the guy I want besides Celebrini. Iginla, Helenius, Catton and Yaremchuk seem like probable candidates.

I would move it for the right piece. Say Tampa wants to re-sign Stamkos and needs to move out some $ and re-stock their prospect cupboard. #11 for Cirelli. 2-3C, 26 years old, 2 Cups and he plays all situations. $6.25 AAV. There could be other pieces to this to make it work.

Canada just added Brandon Hagel, Nick Paul and Pierre-Luc Dubois. I am surprised at Dubois. He may lose his love of Canada over there and demand a trade to Norway. They sent Adam Fantilli and Macklin Celebrini home. Too bad about Celebrini, I wanted to watch him at this level.

Trent Frederic is someone the Sabres could use in their bottom 6. That is the type of player KA should be getting and it wouldn’t break the bank.

Tough one for me as I don’t really follow the NFL but the Bills have been a good team recently with a shot at winning it all from what I know.

Leafs fans are not better, just more numerous. Many of them are also delusional about planning a parade every year.
