Antipin can skate. McCabe and Scandella seem like the PK duo. I hope Scandella doesn't go down too much to block crease passes, takes himself out of the play. He did it twice so far, looking like Hasek flopping around.

Nolan brings way more fame than D-Lo. He seems like a good PK guy and I noticed some hockey sense, as well as the grit we expected.

He's the guy that's been getting press for a couple of seasons now. I think he can do it because he's already played at his current level for more than a year.

I don't have the U. Of Alberta's roster but I would imagine they have quite a few ex-CHL players there. No top flight prospects as they would be playing pro, but many junior players take advantage of scholarship money from their years in Major Junior hockey. The OHL here provides a year of paid education for every year of Junior that the guy has played. Like I said earlier, they're not developing pros but many of the players are ex-junior. Competitive teams.

From the games I watched, they didn't do anything to stand out.

Yeah, he did that quite often. It was very effective because the opponents were not expecting it. I liked Sakic due to the quiet leadership and a wicked wrist shot. He was my guy after Perreault retired, took a couple of years to find a replacement.

Josefsson's faceoff percentage is 2.8% better than Larsson last season. You are right about him looking better on the wing than Larry.

Agreed. If Josefsson is better on draws then have him take them, especially critical ones.

It's still pre-season, but if the amount of power plays remain higher than previous years, we will see Sam on the first unit with the rest of our top talent. Phil will have to match him up with the other team's weaker lines at even strength due to his linemates. He may end up with Kane if he can't mesh with Jack. Players may adjust to the newer calls but I think we will see more penalties. I think he can be the pivot on a decent 3rd line and then shine on the PP.

That is high praise. Sounds like he is poised to have a big year over there. Interesting how staying in Sweden may have benefitted his development compared to Nylander struggling in the A.

I would think Lehner realizes this is a huge year for him. JBot is watching closely and he will get a goalie who will fit in Phil's game plan if Robin's not the guy. I hope it doesn't cost us a shot at the playoffs this year.

I had to look up bloviating, that made me laugh. I agree that what GMJB does with Kane will be about timing and circumstance. Kane will be motivated to have a career year and JB will have to assess whether he is a long term fit or a great trade piece. With JB's degree in Capology and Buffalo's past issues of losing quality players on July 1st, he will find a solution. To me it's about whether Kane wants to be here or not. They can make the money work if the desire is there. Not groundbreaking analysis, just my two cents, which we longer use in Canada.
