  1. No ah think he was in Rochestur to finish the season.
  2. Is there a clause in his contract to let him go to Rochester? I thought he had a year left with Jukurit.
  3. I like Savoie a lot but he wasn’t helping the Sabres get to the playoffs this season. His ceiling is higher than McLeod’s but that may be 4-5 years away. McLeod’s current ability is what the Sabres need and if he gets a bump in production, great. Savoie could be Brayden Point but he could also be Nic Petan. My guess is Edmonton wanted him as the local boy, WHL star and for the ceiling that his draft status hints at.
  4. I don’t think any players actually want to go to arbitration. Having an employer that picked you from hundreds of teenagers, guided you through years of development and supported you to become one of the top 20 or so athletes at your position in the world suddenly highlight your weaknesses and deficiencies has got to be hard. KA also realizes that UPL may not want to be in Buffalo once the process is done. It is way better to settle “out of court“, and that is usually what happens.
  5. Biro has moved on, with Seattle.
  6. Need more puny, skilled Euros. LOL.
  7. In time one of the prospects can force McLeod to 4C, then your C spine is really good.
  8. Plus, Malenstyn, Aube-Kubel and Lafferty have some jam. Other teams will think twice about bullying our guys. They are not goons but are hard nosed players who won’t put up with bulls**t.
  9. That’s what the short term stints are for. If you’re not ready, next man up.
  10. That comp is not the greatest. Erat was already 31 with declining numbers at the time of the trade. I hope Savoie becomes a decent NHLer, but stays out west so there are few revenge games.
  11. That’s where you see what Rosen, Kulich, Östlund etc.. have in a short term stint.
  12. Yeah, the Team Canada issue in London.
  13. This is a move in the right direction. McLeod checks off all of the boxes I had for a 3C. Big, fast, PKer and good on draws. He is coming from a team that has recent success. He’s also from southern Ontario, Mississauga to be exact. Ruff would know the family, coached his brother Michael, who is part of the 2018 World Junior charges. I like Savoie but something had to give and I don’t think he would help much this year.
  14. Savoie is also a local kid, St Albert, Alberta.
  15. That would be such a cheap thing to do. Now that Skinner has been cut loose and the cap is once again not being weaponized I cannot eliminate the thought that it is possible.
  16. The guys brought in for the 4th line are hopefully on the PK so that TNT isn’t blocking shots. Greenway was also a solid PKer. Getting a healthy season from him means around 40 goals. A reinvigorated PP where the focus is not only the TNT one timer should help overall numbers. I personally would like to see Quinn as an option. He could be a bumper player like Point does for the Bolts.
  17. There is a higher possibility of that happening when they are putting those numbers up before they’re hitting their 26-28 year old seasons. The youngest team in the league should have a ceiling above last year’s total.
  18. It’s a total in between what they’ve done the last two seasons. Possible. With improved team defense and goaltending the differential should widen. That is the number I watch more than GF.
  19. There already is a drop off in his game. He had 73 points in 80 games last year and 33 in 66 this year. He is 30 years old, already past his prime. Good for him for cashing in. Teams were spending like drunken sailors because the cap went up a few million. There will be some regrets.
  20. Have a great evening all of you south of us. Play safe.
  21. I barely watch them. There is usually more going on in the summer but there is also no major sport/event to pull me in. The Winter Olympics appeal to me because I can relate to most of the sports. I also like that Canada has a higher medal count.
  22. Carolina have $11.6M available to resign Jarvis, Necas, Drury and a 7th Dman.
  23. Thanks for the updates.
  24. That deal works well for Colorado and Casey. They had no real 2C so he has no competition for a prime role. We will never know if he would have signed for similar money in Buffalo. I have always liked Byram and am eager to see his fit within the unit and how Lindy uses him. 3C is still my biggest concern. KA seems to have been shut out of any upgrades and spins Krebs as a capable player. If he starts the season there and falters, it looks like he has no backup plan other than the Rochester kids.
