straight soda. there will be plenty of time for the booze post-trainer. I know - I'm no fun anymore.

I understand not everyone agrees with this, but I damn sure do. We did not "lose" to terrorists on 9/11, but we did lose to them the day the Patriot Act was passed.

Just playing devil's advocate here, and I don't know the circumstances to know how feasible this would be, but if they can get a bomb robot to this guy, couldn't they have used the robot to deliver gas that would just knock the guy out? Obviously the main thing is to make sure you stop the guy before he does anything else, so I don't blame the DPD for killing him, but ideally he would not have been killed. This would have many advantages. Figure out if he was working with anyone else, learn what made him snap, maybe provide a better sense of closure for the families of the victims knowing the guy will be in jail for the rest of his life (until the death penalty kicks in - this is Texas). Maybe the guy would have eventually repented, which could make future potential terrorists reconsider doing something violent. Apparently this guy was acting completely alone, but in cases of terrorists with connections, it is far better to take them alive so we can get into their heads.

I wish he had not said a word about Vesey. Unless/until he signs, he doesn't exist.

I was trying to get PA's take on whether it was his typo or the restaurant's, or a clever turn of phrase since you need some grated cheese to make stuffed shells. Personally I wish they would have spelled it "great" because if TODAY'S SPECIAL STUFFED SHELLS MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, then DAMN, that must be some pretty darn good stuffed shells!

I've never been to any of these countries, but I'm sure they are wonderful places to live and raise a family. Same with Italy. And I totally understand you are only considering moving abroad at this time. But do you really want to leave the US of A? Please bear with me for the next paragraph. I'm not trying to push your buttons. During the Bush Jr years, leaving the US because you don't like the prez would be referred to as "cut and run". You're in Georgia which is a state moving very quickly from red to blue. If you and your wife leave, the Dems get 2 votes closer. Your wife has already left one country (and I don't blame her for a second - if I were an Olympian I'm not sure I would even go to Rio). But in the long run it's usually best to not hastily walk away from something nice. Besides, even if Hillary wins, it's not like the GOP goes away. It's unlikely the Dems take the House, and the Dem's taking the Senate is easier said than done. Even if they do, there will be no super majorities. There's not going to be a dictatorship here (at least not until 2018 - I'm kidding). Yeah, we've got warts here in the US and sometimes they get bigger than other times, but beware "the grass is greener elsewhere" mindset. I mentioned this somewhere else here once, and you'll love this, but regardless of who wins I'm leaving the US in 2 or 3 years. Not for political reasons, but just because I want to be closer to my family in Canada (St. Catharines). I'll be spitting distance from the Niagara River, 45 minutes from my parents in Amherst (when they're not in Florida) and 30 minutes from home Sabres games. This is not all that difficult a decision for me, but there are definitely drawbacks that I'm taking very seriously in the planning process.

They actually spelled it GRATE?

Petraeus knowingly and deliberately gave state secrets to a civilian for personal gain. HRC was only guilty of arrogance and/or stupidity. We have had Iran-Contra, Newt Gingrich, Tom Delay, Bill Clinton got impeached. What about Benghazi? This might not even be the worst thing Hillary has done, let alone everyone in government for the last 40+ years. I have attempted in the past to dissuade you from making silly arguments like this. Statements like this (and your alleged "untimely demises" for Clinton detractors) make people take nothing you say seriously, even if it might have merit.

Like Sabres79 said, either you don't know the facts about the Petraeus scandal, or you are trying to twist them around to make a convoluted point. Petraeus made notebooks with highly sensitive info and gave them to a civilian he was banging so she could help write his memoirs. https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/how-david-petraeus-avoided-felony-charges-and-possible-prison-time/2016/01/25/d77628dc-bfab-11e5-83d4-42e3bceea902_story.html As part of the agreement, Petraeus admitted that he improperly removed and retained highly sensitive information in eight personal notebooks that he gave to Broadwell. The Justice Department said the information, if disclosed, could have caused “exceptionally grave damage.” Officials said the notebooks contained code words for secret intelligence programs, the identities of covert officers, and information about war strategy and deliberative discussions with the National Security Council.

Yeah, the Filipino guy is very cool. How about the Derek Roy one at the bar with some guy grabbing his junk?

You beat me to it, Dr. I was going to say pi's avatar, because that would have a good chance of actually making people choose one of their own. But admittedly, that is a bit extreme. How about Derrico's old lost-a-bet avatar? Or a Barnaby mug shot.

You just keep doubling down, don't you. LOL. After this last year of Trump, Sanders, Leicester City, Iceland, Coastal Carolina winning the College World Series, and now Wales..."no way" is not a term I'm comfortable using. -
Not to get all yingy/yangy...But in spite of us "doing nothing" today, today was good. PK exits the division. We didn't sacrifice everything for Stamkos. Detroit and Toronto are sad. Sounds like a pretty good day to me !!!

That was different. Roy was having a bad game and the coach refused to pull him. Habs lost 9-3. Roy swore then and there on TV to the owner (GM maybe) that he would never play another game for MTL. Habs had no choice but to trade him, cause Roy meant it.

Good call. Roy Williams on Pat Summitt's Passing 12:14 PM “We lost one of the true giants in coaching, in any sport and regardless of gender, today. If there were a Mount Rushmore of coaching, Pat Summitt would certainly be included.

The jerseys Spain was wearing today remind me of what the shooting victim looks like in the opening scene of so many Law & Order episodes. -

There were 50 things they should have done as a team and as individuals that they failed to do. -

England has been the most over-rated soccer nation in the world for the last decade. Maybe now people will smarten up. They suck. Go ICELAND !!! -

lol - this has been a fun game. Scoreless at the half, but two red cards - both teams playing 10 a side. Ref seems to be a bit megalomaniac, but what do I know? Pretty sure I will have dreams in Spanish tonight. Univision commentators definitely make the game sound more interesting than the average English broadcast. -

Hey is this Argentina - Chile game on an English language channel? I don't mind watching it on Univision, but I'm not a very knowledgeable soccer fan and I don't speak Spanish, so I'll probably learn more from an English language broadcast. Edit - Go Chile !!! -
Easily amused is a fantastic state of mind. Don't take my word for it. Ask my dog!

they're playing Gimme Shelter

Sorry, I missed that. You know 75% of the US may just want Texas to leave. Not really, of course, but a fun thought.

A guy I work with who is in the UK just told me the Scots are flying a bunch of Mexican flags wherever Trump goes. Or get enough support to pass an amendment to make it legal.

Blasphemer !! It's not for everyone, but give it another chance. You'll be glad you did.
