When you are walking your dog and you meet a young lady with her fly down, do you tell her?
-
I might boo him even if he DOES end up on the Sabres!

How can I stand down? I'm not even standing up! And believe it or not I have read every word in this thread going back way too long (-not proud of this-). I just think sometimes you take this thread too seriously. And sometimes people will target you for it, like I used to. I'm just saying don't get so worked up, and then people will stop messing with you. I respect your opinion and actually want to hear it, but just with a little less taking stuff so personally, I guess.
-
Dude, really? You're taking K-9's comments too seriously, and you're taking yourself far too seriously. This is another "Lighten up Francis" moment for you.
-
But you can't judge them like we judge ourselves - their culture as you said is wonderful, but founded on entirely different circumstances. Yes, their gov. doesn't fit within our sensibilities, but they are a sparsely populated people with a much longer history than ours covering a gigantic and intensely challenging tract of the earth. edit - most importantly they have faced schitstorms the likes of which we cannot even imagine. They have a different psyche.

Forgive me. I can't stand conventions, and I haven't/won't watch either of them, so I'm not sure about the specifics of what has been said tonight. But at the risk of over-simplifying things, On the whole, Putin is definitely not good. On the whole, Russians are definitely good at heart.

Why must it be "Either, Or"? Where has your appreciation for nuance gone? I hope it comes back, wherever it went.

^ Nicely done!

If you mean DWS, then I agree that she's a good Dem. But I don't want her to lose her district. I want her to win it again and finally give it the focus she hasn't been able to give it until now.
-
This Dem is glad Debbie What's-Her-Name Schultz is out as the DNC Chairwoman. I was never happy with her as party chair, and I don't really care about the timing. In fact, if anything, like Neo suggested, this is actually GOOD timing. Honestly, my main problem with her was always that her real job was to be a Congressional Representative for her district in Florida. She's a House Dem when House Dem's are close to becoming a super-minority. Pretty sure she can find 40+ hours a week to actually do something for her district. Then consider she's from arguably the most important battleground state in the country, which means she should be spending even more time than 40+ representing her district. The DNC needs a chair with no other obligations.

In the early 70's in my elementary school, we would have nuke drills every so often. Those involved going to the auditorium, taking a seat and crouching over and putting your head between your knees. Then we would all make fart noises and laugh ourselves silly. Gotta go. Dr. Strangelove is starting right now on TMC.

Damn right, my man. That law is barreling it's way toward the the $1 billion mark and counting. We have GOP super majorities here in NC in both the state house and senate, and a GOP governor. All 3 of those are in play this November, as a result of this law. You can argue whether HB2 is "right" or "wrong", but you can't argue that the NC GOP's decision to go forward with it was utter stupidity on so many levels.

No, you should not keep going. Watch the video in Whiskey's post. The victim did nothing he should not have done. That cop should not be a cop. I'm just glad for everyone's sake (including the cop who shot him) that the victim was not killed.
-
After they shot him, the police handcuffed him, flipped him over and kept him there for 20 minutes, the therapist bleeding the whole time, until an ambulance arrived.
-
This one looks really bad. The guy is a therapist at a group home who was retrieving a man with autism who wandered away from the home. The police told the therapist to lay down and he did. They told him to raise his hands in the air and he did. Then they shot him in the leg.

LOL, I have to agree. Forsberg > Lindros all day long.

As much as I don't like Trump, Cruz is a wannabe anti-Christ. I am sincerely glad Trump beat Cruz.

Read the article. There was no issue with Poile talking to Vesey before he signed an agent. Poile offered him a top 6 position LAST YEAR, in addition to this year. If Vesey didn't want to be a top 6 forward on NSH (which is totally beyond me), fine. That's his right. But the only reason he wouldn't come out and tell Poile/NSH as much, and not lead them on, is because he didn't want to look like as much of a prick as he apparently is. To be honest, I sort of want him, because he just might pan out. But these shenanigans remind me of Lindros' BS w/Quebec. Lindros could have signed with Quebec/Colo. and won a cup or more, unlike winning nothing with Philly. If Vesey was pulling this schit with a Carolina or a Vancouver or some other tire-fire franchise, I might cut him some slack. But when he is pulling this nonsense with a team that is an ideal fit for him (at least from a purely hockey-oriented position), then I can't help but think he's got his head so far up his ass that it's actually coming out out of his mouth. And here's the thing. This guy has played ZERO NHL games. And he's been playing a 40-game schedule for the last 4 years. Who the hell does he think he is that he will be God's gift to the NHL as a rookie for an 82-game season in the best league in the world?

http://www.tennessean.com/story/sports/nhl/predators/2016/03/29/predators-jimmy-vesey-free-agency-david-poile-nhl/82368660/ "After all the time and resources that we invested in Jimmy's development, we could not get a meeting with Jimmy, his family and his representatives all together," Poile said. "That’s the only thing I asked for after (March 23), and they would not accommodate us on that." Poile reiterated to Vesey what he had regularly stated — a place on one of the Predators' top forward lines was instantly his if he signed with them. That offer was the same as it was last year when Nashville attempted to entice Vesey to forgo his final year of collegiate eligibility, ultimately to no avail. There was financial incentive, too. Vesey would burn a year from what would be a two-year entry-level contract, putting him closer to both restricted and unrestricted free agency and potentially a larger payday. The Predators were the only team that Vesey could play for this season since they hold his rights until Aug. 15, so no one else could offer him that opportunity.

I'm not buying this. Vesey and his agent wouldn't even talk to Poile and NSH. They couldn't even go through the motions of acting like they were operating with good faith. Vesey and his agent never disputed anything Poile said, including a top 6 position for him. I'm with pi on this one. Vesey is showing every indication that he is as sleazy as Matthews, if not more so.

The whole thing, but it wasn't all that big.

Man, ain't that the truth! That's one of the main reasons I don't eat out very often. I bought a pizza from the deli at my grocery store last week. It had almost 2 times the suggested daily intake of salt all by itself.

No doubt. Winning the war was paramount. But doing so saved many, many US and Japanese lives. It also gave Japan a much more viable future than the USSR would have given them. To be honest, I do have some reservations about how necessary the 2nd nuclear bomb was.
-
Deluca. as horrible as it turned out for the victims, nuking Japan was the right decision from a humanitarian perspective, for both the Japanese and the US. Allowing USSR to take Japan would have been sillier than silly. The Japanese would have been Commies until the USSR ceased to be. We helped them become the vibrant country they are today after WWII ended.

I know you said this rhetorically, but you are actually headed in the right direction. The world had recently been made aware of the level of atrocity of the final solution. The allies felt justified to do anything to the Nazis at that point, and while on the surface you can't necessarily fault them for that, you have to understand that Dresden had virtually no military significance whatsoever. The Allies did not make a big deal about Dresden afterwards because it was a horrible humanitarian mistake. If it weren't for Kurt Vonnegut, I don't know that many of us would have known anything about the senseless destruction of Dresden and its population.
