  1. I got in an argument with some guy about this...he wanted Ott instead, "because he scores more goals and is a better fighter." I proceeded to show how McCormick had a better shooting percentage last year, and is 2-3 inches taller and 20-30 pounds heavier. He then went on explaining how the Sabres should send down Girgensons, so we don't rush his development. At that point I realized I had nowhere to run with that debate, so I gave up. (I wish I could find that and copy/paste it here...it would REALLY add a little comedy to your day.)
  2. That was hilarious. Well done. Lol.
  3. Do people, or did people, honestly believe a team would give up their 2015 1st round pick...just for Buffalo to take a player from them? If they did make such a trade, that GM should be fired immediately...and as a fan of that team, I'd be furious!
  4. WHAT?!?! I said something you agree with?!?! lol. :P But, seriously...I think that is an awesome 4th line, for almost any team to be honest.
  5. I hope that's not the case, Deslauriers is 5 years younger and 20-30 pounds heavier. Deslauriers is also a part of the future, whereas Kaleta most likely is not, or at least, he should not be. I think the 4th line could be Deslauriers - McCormick - Kaleta...that's a tough trio to play against. Larsson takes another season, of half season, in the AHL...he is still only 21 years old, about to be 22 in 3 weeks. (Deslauriers turns 24 in February.)
  6. I saw that too, thought it was really cool he mentioned Buffalo and how much he loved it there. It even kind of seemed that he got a tad bit choked up when talking about it, trying to hold back some tears. Maybe it was just me, but I saw/heard a couple other people say the same thing. I hope they can build a winner there for him, I'd really like to see him get his chance at a Stanley Cup.
  7. Ho-Sang has the potential to be better than every single one of them, given that 1st round pick isn't McDavid or Eichel. But, nonetheless, I understand the point you were trying to make...I actually saw the same BUF/NYI tweet right after I asked the question here. I'm impressed with Tim Murray, more and more, every move he makes...but, I still do not want to lose a top-2 pick next year. (And yes, there were some draft picks and moves I didn't like, but that doesn't mean I don't agree with them...I like everything, so far.)
  8. Who was the draft pick in that deal? We technically got Gorges, Mitchell, and WHO...for Moulson and McCormick?
  9. Not to mention, out of 14 forwards on the Tampa Bay roster, 6 of them are under 6' feet tall...and 4 more stand exactly at 6' feet tall. I think too much is made of this "size" thing, especially here in Buffalo...Sydney Crosby is 5-11, 200 lbs, Steven Stamkos is 6-0, 190 lbs.
  10. I love Tyler Ennis, we share the same name...and like Myers, he was drafted the day my Father passed away. But, is Sam Gagner not better than Tyler Ennis? Idk, I just don't understand it...plus, TB and AZ both have smaller players in that mold already too. (Sorry, I am super bored at the hospital and just looking for conversation.)
  11. Linden Vey and Sam Gagner...I take it there was no place on the Buffalo Sabres for either one of them? (Like Brandon Pirri.) I don't understand this, at all...aren't these the kinds of players Tim Murray said he wanted to make moves for? (And no, I'm not discrediting the Sabres...I'm trying to understand whatever is going on, a little better...are they not good fits or something?) I'd rather have Brandon Pirri, Linden Vey and Sam Gagner...than Steve Ott, Matt Moulson and another 30-something year old veteran, who we have seen the best he has to offer a team. At least these kids still have room to grow and develop into solid players...and they wouldn't hurt our chances in the 2015 draft.)
  12. "Discrediting?" If that is what you want to call it, seems that's about all that goes on here...but, I call it asking questions to gauge opinions of others. I came to a Buffalo Sabres hockey message board, to talk Buffalo Sabres hockey and ask questions...didn't realize that was not allowed, my bad. Dude, don't "discredit" the team here! Lol. :P
  13. Good lord, that is by far the best avatar I have ever seen on a message board or elsewhere...absolutely hilarious man, good job!
  14. Do people honestly think a team like Philly would give the Sabres their 1st round pick, just to get rid of a player they can trade? And do people honestly think guys like Matt Moulson, Brooks Orpik, Steve Ott, Vinny Lecavlier and others of that ilk, would want to spend the remaining years of their career, in Buffalo, playing for a team who is rebuilding and wants/expects to lose a lot this year? If players who have spent their entire careers in Buffalo didn't want to stick around to be a part of this, why would others leave winning franchises, or give up better opportunities, to come here and lose for a year or two? I'm not trying to be all doom and gloom, but I think all this talk is a little premature by exactly one year...I just don't get it?
  15. This is all a year too early...we still have a lot of losing to do.
  16. "There is no shortage of family lineage when discussing the hockey pedigree of Boston College recruit Christopher Brown of the Cranbrook School. The Pontiac, Mich. native is the son of Doug Brown who had 420 points in nearly 1,000 career NHL games, mostly with the Detroit Red Wings. Doug was also an All-Hockey East and All-American performer at BC. His brother Patrick was the captain of the 2013-14 Eagles and recently signed a pro contract with the Carolina Hurricanes organization. His uncle is BC associate head coach Greg Brown, a former Eagle himself. The youngest Brown with NHL hopes has put up gaudy offensive numbers against Michigan high school competition, but next year will get his first real test in the USHL with the Green Bay Gamblers. If he has anywhere near the "it factor" of his brother Patrick or the ability to score at the NHL level like his father, he will make an NHL team very happy it selected him in the 2014 NHL Draft on Saturday." http://www.sbncollegehockey.com/2014-nhl-draft/2014/6/28/5851780/2014-nhl-draft-boston-college-recruit-christopher-brown-cranbrook-school
  17. It blows my mind when the guys on the radio, or elsewhere, knock a kid for giving an example of a great player he admires. When you ask a kid the question, "what NHL player do you try to model your game after?" Do you expect him to say John Scott? There are worse players a kid could aspire to be like than Patrick Kane. If he becomes 1/10th of Patrick Kane, as a 3rd round draft pick, it's a hell of a pick. And again, I like the idea of going the high school/college route for mid-to-late round picks, stashing them away for a few years while they develop.
  18. Except those 3 inches and 50 pounds. lol. (I was down on this pick, simply because of who was left...but you cannot deny pedigree. I like that.) I was wondering the same thing...that's something else to see, makes me like the pick that much more. He's already acting like a leader, that's something that you cannot coach, and is very hard to find. He's going to be a good one. I am very happy that kid is part of this organization.
  19. Smart idea to use a pick or two on some high schoolers, so you can stash their rights for a while.
  20. Maybe I'm just bitter that this is already just about over! Lol.
  21. Damn it, I did. Ok. Maybe they weren't "gripes," maybe more like questions? WHY??? The Kings moved up for McKeown...why didn't we? I like the picks, I really, honestly do...and they got me Reinhart, that there is enough...but I don't understand some of the other moves? (Weren't you one on the Vey bandwagon at the trade deadline...is he not the exact player Murray seems to be looking for?) I'd bet just about anything on this. Demko is going to be a star. Didn't Benning draft another pretty damn good American goaltender? Demko will be a stud.
  22. Linden Vey for a 2nd round pick? Would he not have been a better addition than Cornel or Karabacek? I don't understand taking a 4th liner in Lemiuex, instead of the #1 goalie? Or taking Karabacek and Cornel, when McKeown was still on the board? Or taking the goalie while Anton Karlsson was still there? (Those are my only gripes about this entire draft...let's get Donald Audette's boy in here now!)
  23. Is today the first day of the 2014-15 season or something? These threads are quite confusing...why wouldn't the Gryba signing go in the "free agency" thread? (Not trying to be a jerk or anything, at all...just trying to understand how this works, it's VERY different from OBD.)
  24. One guy I would love to see them make a move for? Devante Smith-Pelly. He's young, has a good all-around game with offensive skill, he loves to hit...he's just a complete beast!
  25. Yeah, like I said, some have him #4 and others have him at #1-#2...it will certainly be interesting. I am happy the NHL draft is starting to get more and more attention. I've always been an NFL and NHL draft nut, but it seems the NHL is growing more and more every year, which is great. I do know this though...if the NHL screws Buffalo out of McDavid or Eichel next year, by changing the lottery...I'll never watch a game again. Lol. (Last year I started to get into the NHL draft, like I've always been with the NFL draft...more than a "casual" spectator.)
