Well, isn't this interesting? Lol. :flirt:

I really hope they get rid of Patrick Kaleta, he's worthless...Tim Schaller can very easily fill his spot on the 4th line. I also hope Mike Weber gets replaced...I'd like to see McCabe in his spot, that's why I don't understand people wanting more defensemen? Gorges - Bogosian Zadorov - Ristolainen McCabe - Pysyk That is the defensive pairings I want to see...hopefully McCabe and Pysyk are both ready for full-time duty come October...but I wouldn't be surprised to see one of them dealt with Grigorenko to Colorado, if it happens, for O'Reilly. (It's almost St. Patrick's Day...hopefully St. Patty's Day 2016 we have an O'Reilly and an O'Connor! :worthy: )

Casey Bailey, Matt O'connor. Any other college free agents?
Bob Malooga replied to tom webster's topic in The Aud Club
I love Bailey and O'Connor, desperately want both of them...I have seen Bailey play in-person quite a few times this year, the kid is a beast and plays a tough game and has a beautiful shot too. However, I just realized...BU is probably going far in the tournament, their last game could be on April 11th, same day as the Sabres' last game...so O'Connor wouldn't get any playing time. As for Bailey, I am sure we have the inside track on him, given he sees Pegula's name every day he goes to the rink, and wouldn't be playing D1 hockey at PSU if not for Terry Pegula. As for O'Connor, I am sure knows Murray's track record at finding good, big goalies, ones from the NCAA route too...he has to see an opportunity here, especially with his teammate and best friend possibly being drafted by Buffalo. I would consider landing these two a huge win for Murray...almost like having a couple extra 2nd round picks. The other two I was interested in are Matt Garbowsky, a big-time scorer from RIT...and Cole Bardreau from Cornell, who already signed with the Flyers. (Saw them both each a couple times too.) (Here is my big wish, GMTM!) https://twitter.com/BUFFAL0SOLDI3R/status/577151320869715968 -
You clearly don't follow that stuff, eh? Because it's true, look up Matthews' stats compared to Eichel's...and he missed this draft class by TWO DAYS! Lol. (That would have made me feel better about the top-3.) "So while the hockey world debates the merits of Connor McDavid vs. Jack Eichel for 2015, you can expect just as much anticipation when it comes to Matthews vs. Puljujarvi (with some Chychrun added into the mix) for next season." "That much is clear with Matthews, who played his youth hockey in Arizona before joining the U.S. National Team Development Program last year. All he has done since is outperform Eichel offensively each step of the way and establish himself as a generational player who can change the course of a game. One scout said at an under-18 Four Nations tournament in Sweden in December, Matthews excelled." "He did things I’ve never seen,” he said. “He was absolutely dominant.'” http://www.thehockeynews.com/blog/auston-matthews-or-jesse-puljujarvi-whos-no-1-in-2016/ The ONLY way I would be able to get over losing out on McEichel...is IF they bring in Casey Bailey AND Matt O'Connor, AND end up with Hanifin AND Strome somehow in the draft. (Get Matt Garbowsky from RIT too.) As for this year, the prospects and all that...that's the only thing keeping me interested, is watching the prospects and following their development. If I was not able to do that, or we did not have the kind of prospects we have, I don't think I would be as interested in all of this as I have gotten over the last couple years. I have always been a huge NFL draft nut, since I was a little kid 20+ years ago...but last year was the first time I have ever known a lot about the NHL draft and followed the prospects. If it were not for the Amerks being so close, and being able to watch the OHL/WHL online, college hockey on TV and apps, I don't think I would be as excited as I am about all of this. Why wouldn't you want to watch Hudson Fasching or JT Compher, or Cal Peterson breaking NCAA records (when we have no good goalie prospects to speak of)...it's be a lot of fun to see this stuff. I feel kind of bad for the people who don't want to watch the future of our beloved hockey team grow into their own...I cannot express how much more this has gotten me into all of this. Lol.

If they missed out on McDavid and Eichel, I might take one more shot at trying to get Auston Matthews...he's putting up better numbers than Eichel did with the US development team. Sean Day, Jakob Cychrun, Jesse Puljujarvi, Luke Kirwan, Max Jones, Matthew Tkachuk...there's a lot of good talent coming out next year too. I just pray it doesn't come to that. Lol. I (most of us) have waited 2 years for this now...they got Reinhart, now get McDavid and my 2-3 year dream will come true! (Casey Bailey and Matt O'Connor factor into that dream now too...I desperately want them, and feel like it would be two extra first, or at least second, round picks! Lol.)

It's been reported widely that Murray was the one to pick Getzlaf and Perry in Anaheim. It should be no secret to anyone that Murray has made excellent moves, including last year's draft picks...the question, and most important part is, can Buffalo develop these players like Anaheim was able to? That is what will determine if the moves were the "right" moves. (And from what the Sabres' prospects have been showing this year (and last), there is no doubt in my mind that they can do so.) http://sports.yahoo.com/news/sabres-expected-hire-tim-murray-142155402--nhl.html "Murray has a solid track record as a talent evaluator, and has had input in numerous personnel decisions during his previous stops in Detroit, Florida, Anaheim and the New York Rangers. In Anaheim, he had a hand in the Ducks selecting future star forwards Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry in the first round of the 2003 draft." Maybe it's just me, but I think he's done a hell of a job...and I'm honestly not sure I'd want anyone else in his position right now. (And I don't mean any GM alive, but out of the guys they interviewed, the guys we speculated about, Murray is the guy who I would still want, no doubt.)
-
I was upset I couldn't watch this on Time Warner...thank you very much for posting this, I greatly appreciate it!!! :-) Happy Thanksgiving everybody!
-
After he was taken off that line, yeah...which is why I want him back there. But, I do like Larsson working with Armia and Grigo too...that's a line I envisioned playing NHL '14 last year. Lol. (So pissed you can't play with the Amerks in Be A GM Mode on the new NHL '15...what's the point if you cant develop your prospects?)
-
Joel Armia is the revelation for me...Schaller is one of many bottom-6-type players they have in the system. Armia is what they desperately need, which is why he is so intriguing to me.
-
Eichel's wicked shot? Did you not see McDavid ring a puck off the cross-bar in warmups, making the puck shatter into little pieces? McDavid is dominating a kid's league, Eichel is dominating D-1 hockey against men older than him...but either will do, have to get one of them!
-
Nothing special at all...he was even put on a line with Grigo and Armia and couldn't produce. PUT CARRIER BACK ON THAT LINE! Lol. (They took him off right after I said I hope they stay together all season.)
-
Yes and yes! I have been watching a lot of Amerks and NCAA hockey this year, and I absolutely love the Carrier-Grigorenko-Armia line and hope they stay together all year. As for Fasching, I love the kid's game, especially if he can get a little bit of a meanstreak. (He's always in the right spot too.) I don't understand how people cannot see how bright the future is...even if only half these kids develop, that's a full team. Lol. I don't think Moulson lasts here that long either, next year might be his last once the kids develop...or a younger player is traded for.

McNabb, Two 2nds for Hudson Fasching & Nicolas Deslauriers
Bob Malooga replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
I expected him to make the lineup when Willie Mitchell was let go, but did not expect him to play so much, so soon. However, I have to agree here...I REALLY like Hudson Fasching, and I think just getting him back for McNabb would have been satisfying. I expect Hudson Fasching to dominate the college scene this year, most likely getting his contract next summer. -
I just got my SI NHL Preview issue, and they have Florida and Edmonton finishing last. (Buffalo/Winnipeg are 2nd to last.) They are also listed under the "Wait until 2018" category, with the likes of Hurricanes, Senators, Panthers, Flames, Jets and Oilers. It basically says they added some "veteran punch," but that will not be enough to make up for a lousy offense. (No Sabres were picked for any of the awards.) *Nothing earth shattering here, but waiting until 2018? That made me laugh. Competing for the playoffs starts a year from tomorrow night.

I think it's a good idea to send Grigorenko back to Rochester...but he needs to be put on a line with Armia, and played in ALL situations. As for the captaincy? Anybody else besides Gionta would be a slap in the face to him, after leaving Montreal for Buffalo. He was a long-time Captain of the most storied franchise in hockey...this is the reason he was brought in, to be the Captain of the NHL's worst team. (Nobody deserves it more.)
-
Whether I have heard of him or not, asking why he was on the "scratches" list that night would not be "trolling." However, the 2000 draft would have been my junior year in high school, and I was not into the NHL draft then, like I am now. Like I said, I have heard of some of those names before...I just didn't understand (and still don't) why they were on the lineup/scratches roster that night? Touché. I certainly wasn't insulting your work, or your intelligence...I was just curious about a few things. As for Olofsson, I like the kid and was happy about taking a flier on him in the 7th round...but comparing him to Stamkos, that just blew my mind. Then again, every player needs a role model and somebody to aspire to be at the NHL level, so I would never knock the kid for that, at all. Kind of reminds me of last year when Connor Hurley (I think) likened his game to Patrick Kane, and Paul Hamilton laughed at the kid. Again, they need some kind of goal...might as well dream big. Either way, I am extremely excited about the young kids this team has stock piled...and I expect a big run out of Rochester this year. Then, hopefully by next year, the best of the best young kids are ready to step up in Buffalo...free agents are ready to join them...and this thing can get rolling sooner than expected! :-) Thank you for this, I will absolutely watch every game that I can watch...I love college hockey. (and college basketball)

Luke Adam, Phil Varone, Justin Kea, Victor Olofsson, Vaclav Karabacek, Tim Schaller...please, tell me who of those prospects are a "decade old?" Maybe you need to learn to read a little bit better. ;) And if you need a link...here you go! Go ahead, look at the "scratches" listed for last night's game against Carolina. Who's the "troll" now?
-
Schaller, Varone and Adam are all the same age...but I was pointing out how Varone and Adam actually score, Schaller is a defensive forward, as is Kea. I guess I just can't understand how someone has reached their ceiling at the age of 23...and in Adam's case, after only 87 NHL games. (In which he scored 26 points.) 26 points in 87 games for a 3rd or 4th liner is about as close as you could get to evolving into an "NHL role player."
-
It says he was compared to Stamkos when he visited Buffalo. And Luke Adam has been one of the Amerks best and consistent players recently...yet somebody like Justin Kea is rated higher than him? Makes no sense. Phil Varone has been mentioned as possibly making the Sabres, yet his point production last year was no better than Luke Adam's...so if one is written off, the other should be too. Also, Tim Schaller is rated ahead of both Varone and Adam? That's confusing, given they have plenty of 4th liners and need more offensive production. But, why is the "Swedish Stamkos" rated #37? Lol. (That one is a joke! :-p But, I really do like Olofsson and Karabacek.) I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that Numark did a great job compiling the list, as usual...I just don't understand/agree with some of the ratings, especially those. PS. What happened to Brad Navin and Judd Peterson? Also, who is Vasily Bizyayev, Vjateslav Buravchikov, Denis Denisov, Denis Ezhov, Artem Kriukov, Maxim Sheviev and Pavel Voroshnin? (They were mentioned on the "scratches" last night, as was Corey Fienhage, but I know he was let go a while back.) I can typically name every player and prospect in the organization, but those names? Denisov and Kriukov ring a bell, but I have no clue from where?
-
That has to be a joke right? On a side note...I see Luke Adam is already being written off? I really hope he shines with better players around him, a line of Adam-Grigorenko-Armia would be fun in Rochester this year.

Fantasy Hockey SabreSpaceBlue & SabreSpaceGold 2014-2015 Edition
Bob Malooga replied to nobody's topic in The Aud Club
Hey there, "Nobody"...is there any chance I could get in on one of these? I do it every year with friends, none of whom like hockey, and it always falls apart...I'd love to join this? If there is no room, I understand, I'm a little late as it is...but let me know either way, please? (Thanks!) -
This got me thinking about a time I was visiting a friend at college (UB) and we were sitting outside a bar (PJ Bottom's I think? Not sure)...and someone came up behind me and asked if I had a lighter they could use. I turned around to find...JP Losman and Lee Evans. Lol. I couldn't believe my eyes. Same thing happened in Rochester once, but it ended up being Chris Thorburn. As for most disappointing, I think they are a lot of them...but Ville Leino has to top the list.

Puck Daddy's Summer of Disappointment Sabres Edition
Bob Malooga replied to darksabre's topic in The Aud Club
Ugh, it sure is tough to read that stuff, remembering the memories I shared with my Father. It's really starting to sink in that I will never be able to watch another Buffalo Sabres hockey game with him for the rest of my life...our favorite thing to do, all the time, we did not miss a single game. And before he died, he said to me..."It's hard knowing I'll never see the Sabres play again." It's certainly going to be a bittersweet moment the day they finally raise that hardware...but I hope it happens. Sidenote: Nothing will ever sting as much as Brett Hull's skate, and nothing is as ugly as the Slug logo. Lol. -
Former 1st round pick who is only 25 years old? These are the kinds of vets they should take chances on. Anybody have any clue if they kept Colton Gillies? He seemed to fit in nicely down in Rochester too. (And he is also another young, former 1st round pick, yet to establish himself...perfect for Rochester.)
-
1. Larsson seems to think he is ready, he should be ready...and I think he takes a huge step. 2. The goalies, no question...they are not Ryan Miller, and he is who kept us in games. (If I can even say that.) 3. Tough call here...I think Reinhart, Zadorov, Ristolainen, Girgensons, Pysyk, and McCabe will reach where they are supposed to get to...Grigorenko and Armia are the two offensive weapons we could really use. Neither of them have proven much of anything in the NHL/AHL yet either...so I picked Grigorenko, as he was supposed to be a star and offensive dynamo...and I think he deserves to get there, given all he has been through. We need him to, as well! (We desperately need both to develop.) Good poll, by the way...I think we see quite a few kids make major improvements this year knowing they have a spot to fight for.
